I don't see what the big deal is. Obamas speech didn't bother me. Why can't Obama get credit and respect for anything? The man passed a health care bill in the first two years of his presidency (something Clinton couldn't do in 8) and then got Osama (something Bush stopped trying to do) and people still try to find major fault in the things he's gotten done.

I heard on the news this morning from an Arab journalist that while burying bin Ladin's body so soon after his death was in accordance with Muslim traditions, it's basically a slap in the face to have disposed of his body in the ocean. I would assume it was done deliberately not only because it was to show disrespect but also to prevent anyone from digging him up.

Mitochondrial DNA tests only take a matter of hours (I believe it's around 5 if I'm remembering correctly). I believe RFLP take at least overnight. This is all from my leaky lab memories from five years ago - it might be quicker now.

Forgive me for being 5% skeptical. I'm not saying they DIDN'T kill him (I'm 95% confident that they did), but I have some questions.

Throughout human history, the victor usually parades the corpse of the vanquished for all to see. Heads on stakes, a body thrown in the village square for all to rip apart. Native Americans kept scalps. Even cats set their little birdies or mice on our doorsteps to show us what they've done. We got to see Saddam Hussein, remember? And those photos of the captives at Abu Ghraib. When humans dominate other humans, they want to DISPLAY that shit. Will we get to see the photos of Navy Seals taking their turns posing with dead bin Laden?

Why Bin Laden should have been killed or capture and other bullshit that bothered me:

1. Bin Laden financed/funded Al-Qaeda, so killing his ass should at least decrease their activities.

2. This bitch killed a few thousand people in a few minutes and fucked up a nations pysche.

3. This should help keep Obama's timeline on extracting our troops from Afghanistan or Pakistan. There's no need for us to be there.

4. He's burial was quick because he's a Muslim. It was also a diplomatic move, because you don't want the rest of the Muslim world pissed off because we disrespected their burial custom.

5. Yeah it seems odd that his dna test came back so fast, that means they would have had to contact one of his relatives. I'm betting he was killed earlier and they probably didn't know it was him until the dna test came back. ABC is showing pictures of the compound, they are probably exaggarating the cost, but I'm sure it was luxurious for Pakistan because he's a billionaire with a disposable income.
