Oprah Channels Tony Robbins For Her Final Show
You know how Courtney Love said that if you drink Ayahuasca tea a wise old black man will take you on fantastical journey of spiritual fuckery, or some shit? I think Courtney Love got it wrong. If you drink Ayahuasca, you'll hallucinate the final episode of Oprah, because that shit took me into the roots of a mighty oak tree and didn't let me go. Oprah PREACHED (in ALL-CAPS like that) hard.
Oprah didn't come out, rip off her skin suit and reveal she's the real Jesus before telling the audience to look under their seats for VIP tickets to the Rapture. Gayle also didn't come out, grab Oprah by the hand and lead her to a church where all her past guests greeted her with smiles. None of that happened. Instead, Oprah spent the entire hour preaching out a motivational speech and reflecting on what she's learned during the past 25 years. Even Maya Angelou was like, "Too much, girl. Too much." Here's a few pieces of what The Mighty O said today:

OPRAH didn't start out a pompous snob. She came from incredible hardship and that was part of the love-affair that many women of ALL ethnicities had with Oprah because she was very humble and self-effacing. Most of her audience was 'white' btw and helped shoot her sweet chunky ass to the top. Yes, white RACIST AmeriKKKA helped make a black woman powerful and famous (despite her fug and fatness).

The thing about Oprah is she got so used to that pedestal, she began to believe her own publicity. She got so high up in the stratosphere that mere mortals were enigmas to her.
When your opinion is so powerful, they impact an entire commodities market, that's some crazy shit. When just by a recommendation, you can turn an unknown author into a best-seller overnight, that's some crazy shit. But hauling 100 pounds of beef fat onstage in a little red wagon to show how much weight you starved off your body, is priceless.

I like Oprah, but haven't watched for a while. Glad to hear it wasn't all celebs today: that's why i didn't want to watch. oprah's strength was in connecting to real people and real issues. there isn't anyone else out there doing that like her. she has brought many worthy issues to light.

Fuck you haters. I'm not an Oprah lover or even a regular viewer but I'm not going to put down someone who regularly spreads positivity in a world that really needs it. Yes she's become a bit smug and overbearing over years but she of all people, can afford to be. Look at where she started from. I'm neither black or American but I can only imagine the positive influence she's had on young afican-american girls. Yes, that was a bit of a valedictorian speech but she did come out on top after all those years and all those haters.
Also, she and Tony Robbins use a lot of Neuro Linguistic Programming language. That's why many people feel that they are "speaking directly to them".

I haven't watched in eons and was never a regular, but love her anyway. For the real force of nature she is, and all the good she's done. (As opposed to the the "favorite things" consumerist hucksterism, the Travolta fangirlhood (GAH!), or a hundred other insufferable annoyances.)
Her basic problem is money, and how no one can be unchanged by it, and usually for the worse, and the sheer zillions of it she's got. Overall she's handled it pretty damn well, compared to some of the other multibillionaire fucks in this world (e.g. Koch brothers) or even Sam Walton (Walmart) who was also self-made - but a mean-ass, greedy SOB whose biz model destroyed and/or offshored countless industries and small town retailers and made shafting employees the new normal.

I don't get the hate for Oprah. I mean, I don't watch her show and I find her pretty annoying - especially the way she slips in and out of her "blaccent" and her gross, cloying relationships with other celebrities (I'm looking at you, Tommygirl)- but I don't have hate. She has made bajillions but she has also given bajillions away. She's made some good things happen in the world. And, like MKfan, I like how she has used her show to get people to talk about things they normally wouldn't - like how she and Dr. Oz got people talkin' 'bout POOP! Haha. Seriously, you gotta pay attention to that shit (pun intended). There would be a lot less cancer if people would just get over those types of hangups.
The one thing I can't forgive her for is unleashing Dr. Phil upon us, because that man is a ASS.CLOWN. period.

The thing about Oprah is she got so used to that pedestal, she began to believe her own publicity. She got so high up in the stratosphere that mere mortals were enigmas to her.
When your opinion is so powerful, they impact an entire commodities market, that's some crazy shit. When just by a recommendation, you can turn an unknown author into a best-seller overnight, that's some crazy shit. But hauling 100 pounds of beef fat onstage in a little red wagon to show how much weight you starved off your body, is priceless.

I've never been a fan of Oprah and frankly, I don't see her appeal.
Holding a microphone and asking mundane questions to her prententious celeb friends while they stroke her massive ego is not my idea of quality television.
I'm so glad she's gone!
LOVED it and LOVE her. Oprah changed my life with Shirley MacLaine and Marianne Williamson and I will be forever grateful.
