Tracy Morgan Is Sorry About That Homophobic Rant
After Tracy Morgan's anti-born this way anthem made its way around the Internet, part of me thought that he would tell everyone to get fucked and the other part of me figured that his publicist would put a filter over his mouth and force him to the front of the stage to apologize. Seems like the latter won out, because here's the statement Tracy issued to the New York Times this morning.
"I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”
Does this mean that the Westboro Baptist Church is going to take back their invitation for Tracy Morgan to become their official mascot? (Wait, do they hate black straight people too?)
Tina Fey said that her daughter writes a lot of Tracy Jordan's lines in 30 Rock. It's become clear that the only solution to this mess is that from now Tina Fey's daughter should write ALL of Tracy Morgan's words.

I love Netflix! I'm currently finishing up the last season (season 2) of "Dead like me." I can't get into regular TV anymore. I've lost patience with regular TV. I've never heard of Flashforward or Caprica, but they sound like Sci-Fi which is right up my alley. The last two shows that I liked but got cancelled were Farscape and Arrested Development. I was actually thinking about re-watching X-files myself. It was such a good show.
...My darling can't you see
My heart sounds just for you my dear...
CSG,
I am cleaning out Baby Bjork's old and broken or outgrown toys. Next on to the clothes. Oh, and groceries. And vacuum. And... Shit, I'm tired already. It's gray here in NYC and finally cool, and I don't feel like doing fuck. Take you time, and while you're out, please pick out a tinfoil hat for me, preferably in red (my colour).
I'll try and check in with you guys but Baby Bjork is demanding Thomas the Fucking Tank Engine, so signing off. No internet down at the Shore, where I'll be visiting Grandma Bjork, who is a bit senile. (When "Passion of the Violent Christ" came out, I told my mom I went to see it; she asked, "Oh, what happens at the end?" What? I said, "Oh, he got away Mom; and he gets the girl." WTF??? I swear that woman is stealing my weed stash.)
Have a great day and most importantly, be funny.

I saw your response re your birthday (I'm always tardy to the party around here) and it sounded like a nice time. Hope little Bjorklet is feeling better, too. And THANKS ALOT for including the reference to little Digby - I shrieked because that little character freaks me out! LOL
I just can't with the late-night threads at times here. Seems like every couple of months they get hijacked by people who tear each other apart (or maybe it's the same person arguing back and forth under different alts, who knows?). It usually takes a few days to settle down for awhile, before flaring up again down the road (kinda like the herp). There's a full moon this coming Wednesday, maybe that has something to do with it.
Ugh, I have a list of errands as long as my arm and don't feel like doing any of them. I better get started or I'll end up sitting on my ever-widening ass all day. Have a great Saturday Bjorkie, maybe I'll catch up with you tonight. I'll bring the tinfoil hats!

CSG, didn't you like Brian Fellowes before, like they always do on SNL, overdid it? And that Rocket skit was funny, too. That other stuff, hateful and worst of all, the biggest sin of all, NOT FUNNY. (That other thread was cray, cray, no?; also, I responded to your query about what I did on my birthday on the Open Post a few days ago.)
It's just crazy and silly.

I've never seen Lost and I've never seen 30 rock.

Watched one episode of Lost, and I've never seen 30 Rock. I don't watch a lot of TV. Just South Park, sports, and shows on Netflix. Currently working my way through Cheers and the X-Files. I've tried with regular TV, I have. But I hate reality shows, and every time I get interested in a show, they pull it off the air for 4 months, start showing it again after I've forgotten what was going on, then cancel it (RIP Flashforward and Caprica).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I loved Caprica and Flashforward! I also liked that detective show, The Unusuals, but like you said, when you begin to like it, they yank it, and there pops up some new reality or talk show in it's place. I admit to watching a lot of reality tv, but even I am tiring of them. My love for the wretched Houswives shows is waning, and I doubt I will watch them after their current seasons are over.
I am furious they have taken off V ! Yet another example of how one should never get attached to a show and expect to see a esolution of it. I think they have taken off The Event as well. Another show I invested time in and will never know what the hell The Event even was!
Cappy - you were so cute! Your picture and the post with the little guy "voguing" (sp?) remind me so much of my growing up too. Didn't we all have one instance when mom had our hair chopped off because she couldn't handle it anymore? And didn't we all dance/sing/pose like mini-models or rock stars in the mirror? This world would be a better place if more adults said "Fuck it" and started voguing when they felt like it.
OT: Tracy Morgan is nowhere near the top 100 on my personal list of comedians. I don't even associate his name with comedy. Who goes to his shows anyway? If you saw that he was appearing near your house would you immediately think "I HAVE to get tickets to that"? If it wasn't for 30 Rock, he wouldn't even have a career, it's not like he was a comedic standout on SNL.
Funny that people always make those excuses if the people who where the target of those 'jokes' are either women or gay men. As if people would react with the same sentiment if a white comedian would crack some jokes about people of color or of a different religious faith. If this happened people would have already called for the head of said comedian and he/she would've been fired on the spot, no matter if they had apologized or not.
It's even funnier if the people who spout off discriminating hate speech are people who should know themselves what it's like to be discriminated against. How can you expect people to respect you and not discriminate against you if you don't show the same respect for other people as well?
I think people need to not overreact. I doubt that Tracy Morgan or Michael Richards are actually homophobic
=============================
Michael Richards went off on some black dudes in the audience that were heckling him and said some pretty nasty things - it had nothing to do w/homophobia. Mind you, he never mentioned "stabbing them in the head". He got lambasted for it and was publicly shamed. My point is, now that it's this douche, people are saying "oh, it's okay, it's comedy - he should be allowed to push the boundaries" - where were these people when the MR shit went down? It's hypocritical. Personally, I've never found TM remotely funny - he seems mentally deficient.
YOU AIN'T GOT NO MONEY!!!! MOVE THE FUCK ON!
~But.Seriously.Folks
I think people need to not overreact. I doubt that Tracy Morgan or Michael Richards are actually homophobic. They're just two really angry guys with big mouths that ran away with them. Tracy knows he pulled a total douche move and this will likely be the last homo rant we'll ever hear from him. He's basically a sweet guy, but let's face it - most comics are asshole dicks on some level, but without that inner fire, they wouldn't be funny at all.
I laugh way too hard at the most inappropriate things....'member Bernie Mac? I laugh my ass off to this date when he talks about "punchin' a 2 yr in the throat". Of course actually punching a child is not funny and I would personally tear anyone a new asshole for harming a child, but that is why it was funny to me. It was stupid, but I bet there were more than few people who heard the same joke and were offended. Maybe some were punched as children, it happens, but it such a foreign concept to me that I found it funny (the joke, not actually punching kids). I guess what I am rambling about is that maybe I am not the best person to sit in judgement of Tracy. I have laughed at shit that might make others cry and I am not going to be all hypocritical about it.
Anywho, Tracy isn't dumb, y'all. Obviously, there are more ways to get AIDS than being multi-sexual. Period. He knows this shit. Also, people need to remember that AIDS is a commom VIRUS - like the cold, flu, herp, viral mening., virual conjunct., etc, you all get the point. He's an angry fuck over his dad, "the god"'s, death. He may have went to far with his comic rage thing. I've had people do anti-Viet ppl/war rants at me just out of anger but didn't realize my history. We then heard out the experiences of both sides and completely understood.
Point is, step back and let the guy recognize his misdirected rage, and check himself. We all pull dumb verbal shit (and laugh at dumb shit) like this from time to time. A fucked up childhood makes it worse (enter exhibit A-Z: all us Dlisted members, loll. ugh).
Have never watched 30 Rock, never liked Tracy Morgan who I thought/think was/is gay in both ways, hate Alec Baldwin, (though Stephen Baldwin in The Usual Suspects is really overlooked)sometimes laughed at Tina Fey but it's like watching a popular cheerleader who after a while who, as someone said, is not that funny. She's funny. I liked her on Weekend Update. I just don't like her that much. She's not Lucille Ball and it gets old being told how funny and cute she is and details about her life. I. do. not. care.
I care what Chrissie Hynde did yesterday, if she did something. I don't care about these sell-out mainstream providers of the same old not-funny crap that has clogged the bowl known as television since say, Perfect Strangers went off.
Oh please! These celebrities who get busted for making racist/homophobic remarks only apologize to save their own skin.
Never seen LOST, never seen 30 Rock... what the hell do you people watch, CSI Miami? o.0
I think the only thing he is really sorry about is that the truth about what a messed up asshole he is has now come into light... I have no words because the only ones I could use in regards to describing him would get bleeped...
It's sad he has such views. I find him funny sometimes (his Star Jones and Brian Fellow characters are some of my favs) He is OK on 30 Rock, HE isn't really funny but the situations around him and characters around him are funny. (Sheri Shepard is A LOT funnier in her limited role as his wife)
What always bugs me about this idiotic "being gay is a choice" bullshit is that aside from the fact that it isn't a choice...even if it were why would it matter? Stupid fucking republicans who claim they want freedom, and limited government are the only ones who seem to have a problem with what others do with their lives. They want to control what a woman can do with her body and what a gay man can do with his.
My mother and I always get into heated arguments over whether these celebrities should apologize when they get caught doing something innapropriate. She hates when they apologize because she knows its fake and they're true colors have already been shown. What's done in the dark just come to light. I believe in making them apologize and making them pay fines (Kobe). Its sort of a public flogging for being an idiot. Just because its your true colors doesn't mean that you need to spew your hate and ignorance out loud and offend others.
I wanted to add, over at that suck-ass show that everyone pretends to watch, 30 Rock, you have hater child-yeller Alec Baldwin with his own gay remark which was at least funny but still went after someone's sexuality, and then Tina Fey talking about her kids ALL THE TIME.
Listen, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, they appeal to stupid dicks and yuppies. Alec Baldwin is shit based on the tape to his daughter alone, and this fat fuck needs to be shut down. Fuck these people.
What I have trouble understanding is how anybody - I'm not even saying Tracy here, since we all know he's a moron - can have had interpreted his 'speech' as a joke. There weren't even the slightest attempt to make a joke in the whole thing... it was just a cord of tired anti-gay slurs and a whole lot of 'I hate gays because God tells me so'. I mean, put the exact same words in the mouth of an anti-gay pastor and the effect would have been the same. Just because Tracy Morgan is a comedian doesn't mean that everything he says is comedy and can be disregarded as such.
So he's saying that he spewed hate all over the stage after getting that donor kidney drunk.
I have always had mixed feelings about Tracy's comedy. Sometimes he's funny as hell.
I think he's hilarious in interviews and is the suck with his stand-up and tv/movie roles.
Never found him funny, not even by accident.
for everyone that thinks he's gay...
he LOVES stretchmarks and c-section scars. he's the straightest guy in the world.
I commented about this on facebook and a friend said:
See reading around and trying not to read all the emotion in the charged stories... it was a comedy skit... maybe in RALLY bad taste, but it was during a skit... I don't know that I believe he really thinks that way. People just don't like that he is touching such a sensitive subject...
I agree with the last Dlister who said they hate when comedians say shit like this and try to pass it off as a joke when it's not funny, it's just ignorant. I have a pretty tacky sense of humor. I love South Park, I love gross and morbid shit, but some stuff just isn't funny to me.
Like when you say you'd kill your child cause he came home and said he was gay, and if a gay can take a dick in the ass then he can take a joke, yeah I'm going to be a little offended. Cause like I said, that shit's not funny it's just offensive. and I'd say the same for a lot of other things, such as making fun of Sarah Palin's kid for having Down Syndrome which some people think is funny and I don't think it's funny at all. I guess we just have different definitions of "humor."
But what does he think about circumcision?
Fire him, 30 Rock.
