Hot Slut Of The Day!

Aneka (born name: Mary Sandeman), the Scottish singer who got her stage name from the Yellow Pages and did herself up in geisha on acid drag for her first worldwide hit single "Japanese Boy." For her second single "Chasing Dreams," Aneka retired the "Lucy Goes to Tokyo" look and dressed herself up like a refined lady from the 19th century. And for her final contribution to the pop world, one of her last songs called "Ooh Shooby Doo Doo Lang" (which sounds like a song used for potty training), Aneka transformed herself into some kind of lesbian gangster from the 1920s.

Aneka's short-lived reign as the chameleon queen of pop came to an end in 1984. Aneka closed her tab at the costume shop, dropped her stage name back into the Yellow Pages and today she makes traditional Scottish music in her home country. What I'm getting at here is that a fuckery flower like Aneka could've only bloomed in the garden of the 1980s.

I thought I knew the 80s songs, I've never heard of this though. I really thought she was saying "Japanese Porn".

I only knew about the Mini Pops version of this, never heard the real one until GTA Vice City.

I was rather lucid and coherent in the 80s and I remember this not.

Ah, the memories. Love that song. As a little kid I was such a fan of Baccara (Yes Sir, I can Boogie), Modern Talking (Cheri Cheri Lady) and LUV (Troyan Horse). This and my (now vintage) Masters of the Universe / She-Ra toy line obsession leaves no doubt that I always was destined to be a gay "boi".

I fucking love Modern Talking, Brother Louie is my boyfriend and I's song.

She has another classic song titled "LITTLE LADY" which is even better than "JAPANESE BOY".

I can't say I loved it, but I do remember this clearly, which is almost as bad.

Oh I loved this song!! (I was 14, shut up). I had forgotten all about it, as well as the great Aneka

This was a huge hit in England and Ireland and several other Euro countries and this is Aneka on Top of the Pops!

I thought her name was so exotic. It's only now I read it was really Mary! Thanks for dashing my dreams, MK!

Great stuff!! (not really, but it WAS great in the 80s if you a really ordinary 14 year old who thought anyone on TV was automatically better than me)

OK, so everything wasn't better in the 80's.
Only in the 80's could this paint remover become a hit.
I've never heard of this "tune" so was it just a hit overseas?

She sings like my Grade 2 music teacher, who unfortunately, had the same kind of nostrils - you know, the kind that flare when they hit a high note. She used to stand in front of the class, tapping out the beat on my desk, giving me a full front row view of those hideous nostrils. Yeah, I'm scarred for life.
