Hot SOPA-Related Slut Of The Day

Susan, the Wikipedia face that has been asking me for a donation every single day except today! The first thing I do in the morning after I watch my dog shit directly against a lamppost (that's his new fetish for some reason) and snort lines of whole coffee beans, I visit Wiki, wave at Susan's ass and then double check all the celebrity birthdays for Birthday Sluts. I went to Wiki today even though I knew the doors would be locked, the lights would be off. Wiki, Reddit, Craigslist, Boing Boing, ONTD, Post Secrets, Wordpress and hundreds of other sites are turning off the lights for 12 hours or more in protest of two proposed bills: SOPA and PIPA.

SOPA makes me think of the stew my abuelita would make on Sunday afternoon from all the leftovers of the week, but this SOPA tastes even more like shit (I know I'm going to get a chancelta to the fingers for that one). SOPA is short for the Stop Online Piracy Act and it's a mess. SOPA's intention is to shut down foreign websites that post pirated movies and music, but the way it's written puts all of the Internet in a fucked up place. The way it works now is, let's say I post a music video from YouTube. Let's say the copyright holder of that music video doesn't want it on YouTube. They contact YouTube, YouTube takes it down and the video becomes dead on my site. But if SOPA passes, the Justice Department will be able to force my server to shut me down no questions asked and with no kind of warning. YouTube too. Hell, even if I just link to that video or you link to it in the comments, Dlisted could be strangled and thrown into a dumpster behind an abandoned IHOP (Actually, I shouldn't of typed that, because that sentence might help the bill). Some say it's the big corporations' way of controlling the entire Internet and censoring a bitch.

Let me try to put it in a way all of our slut whore asses can understand. So you're humping on a piece in the privacy of your own home and all of his sudden his crazy girlfriend SOPA busts in. She pulls him out of you before you can even finish, slaps a chastity belt on your fuck part, swallows the key and then leaves forever. The ho didn't even let you finish and now you can never finish, because she's locked you out of your own vagina/b-hole/whatever.

In other words, if that fun-hating, censor-slapping cunt SOPA passes, you'll have to do actual work at work. When SOPA passes, a million kitten video gets gassed. THINK OF THE KITTEN VIDEOS!

And I don't even need to tell you about that bitch PIPA. We all know she's bad news.

If you want to help, click here to educate your brain with more information. Then you can sign this petition and contact your local representative to tell them that you want to SAVE THE KITTEN VIDEOS!

"Oh and to clear it up they aren't trying to take down videos of your babies on youtube"

Except that the way this piece of trash is written, you'd have to trust music and movie companies wouldn't do that. Given their history of fining parents $10,000 and more for their kids downloading some songs, I don't trust them. Not to mention, you'd have to hope other people don't hop on board. You know those chinese spambots who post links to fake louis vuitton and Nike? What if those companies decide that the links in the comments of this site are violating their trademark?

Look, I get it - musicians and actors want a chance to make a living. The vast majority aren't the people who pop up on this site every day for having no talent, tons of money and miniscule amounts of sense. BUT, these bills would not help anything.

Fighting technology has never worked. Record companies tried to fight radio, and it didn't work. Radio tried to fight TV and it didn't work. The film industry tried to fight VCRs, and it didn't work. Until the people realized they could still make money from these things of they just tried a little harder to adapt their business model.

iTunes proves that people will pay a reasonable price for music. Netflix proves people will pay a reasonable price for TV and movies. Don't worry so much about the pirates, and focus on the many, many other people who pay for things and there's both a way to make a living and less stress to be found.

Oh and to clear it up they aren't trying to take down videos of your babies on youtube. LOL youtube is one of the most compliant places with respects to take downs. There are numerous torrents and illegal download sites Dj's who distribute music that isn't theirs etc. SOPA is supposed to really be designed to protect people from being stolen from. There is still the fair use act as well as freedom of speech those don't just disappear. You can't defend the right to steal from people because it's not a right. A lot of people that you enjoy listening to are starving to death while everyone shit talks all these never was into stardom. At some point you have to realize the damage that you are doing. Music is in everything that we do. There is already a shortage of good music because the majors don't house real artists anymore. The fact is any semblance of anything that means anything or sounds good will be gone if we don't do something. Yes Im serious.

FabulousDivaBuns's picture

Im ok with people pirating the majors but it's killing us indies. I wouldn't want ill to fall upon the dlisted but I have to say I hope people take that ish as a serious warning. The Majors are greedy they will make sure something is passed.
You better hope SOPA's replacement isn't worse.

kacky's picture

The same people who tried to ban VCRs and MP3 players, now want to sue you if you post a video of your baby dancing to a pop tune. Wouldn't they just lo-o-o-ve to come in here and do some P.R. sanitizing. Every post by MK and all our avies too.

They donate heavily to political campaigns and they were banking on the fact that most people in Congress have no clue how the internet works and don't want to learn.

Now that this uproar has happened, they're sure to try to sneak by with something watered-down but still unacceptable. Out of the question. They can learn to evolve with their customers, just like any other business.

Well said. This is my biggest problem with SOPA and PIPA. The film and music industries like to pretend that they're "losing" so much money, yet John Travolta parks a few fucking jumbo jets in his driveway, and LeAnn Rimes has spent 75% of the last year in a bikini in Mexico, Hawaii, etc.

Copyright laws already exist in the U.S. Let these big studios fund their own damn investigations instead of using DOJ as their corporate legal teams.

These companies pursue global revenue, so let them do it with all the inherent risks.

mbar, the music industry loves this to the extent the can use SOPA and PIPA to crush independent artist and shove their product and their product ONLY down your throat.

Politicians are behind this because corporations are behind this. And corporations are eager to keep the internet for being used by protest movements, anti-capitalist muckrakers, and hippie tree-huggers from communicating with each other to disrupt their flow of dollar bills.

I would like to see a list of which congressmen/women are in favor of these bills.

One year ago, here in Egypt, I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of Internet censorship. You must never allow such a thing to happen in the United States.

Look, I know that there is a lot of piracy here in Egypt. But, honestly, it is for personal use, not for resale. And 99% of the people that download movies and songs here do not have the disposable income to otherwise purchase them. They will simply stop being exposed to American culture. Arabic music and movies are available for free download all over the net. None of them are complaining. Actually, most of the Arabic entertainment industry is government supported, so there are no profit-hungry media companies involved here.

Ok, but it seems to me the focus is on music and movies....the Powers that Be are trying to cover loopholes by keeping the language wide - which IS dangerous. The other thing is that it's not about sites like DListed, per se, IF YOU'RE AMERICAN, becuz they're only targeting foreign websites. They don't take you down - they just block you. It's the foreign websites that keep piracy possible....it's the issue that the US (Or Canada) can't drag a Korean siteholder into court, for instance. So, since they can't sue, they want to block them out. This is getting very chicken little and I can actually hardly see how black-outs are educating the public or dealing with the issue.

It is a good drama to get people to pay attention tho - cuz that's how we lose rights, how stupid bills get passed, how the corps take advantage of us - we simply don't know what's going on.

Even the information I've presented here is second-hand and no, I didn't work hard to make it clear. Go find out what's happening. It'll help in the fight for sure.

No, you're totally wrong. Please don't spread misinformation because this is a nasty piece of shit that needs to get flushed for good.

SOPA gives tools to the US attorney general to combat "foreign infringing sites". The definition of this term is unusual; a site with a domain name registered outside the US (eg through a non-US domain name registrar) seems to count as "foreign", even if it's run by an US company and hosted on US soil. As an initial matter, the site must be "US directed", although virtually all sites not actively blocking US IPs would fall under this category.

Infringement does not need to be direct, and instead, may be imputed on sites that merely "facilitate the commission" of copyright infringement (D-Listed!!!!). The order can ask the operator of the targeted site to "cease and desist from undertaking any further activity as a foreign infringing site," and then the attorney general can send additional copies of the order to "similarly situated entities" (Drunken Stepfather!!!) with permission of the court - that is, others can fall under the court's power without previously having been given notice of a proceeding against them.

But these provisions are likely not the real force of the law, as fully overseas infringing sites may try to ignore a US court order. The law's real force is focused domestically. Once a foreign infringing site has been made the subject of a court order, the attorney general may apply the court order, not only at the site, but at US companies that occupy the space between the infringing site and the end user's browser - specifically, service providers, search engines, payment network providers, and advertising networks.

There are a number of specifics mentioned in the bill as "technically feasible and reasonable measures." They could employ DNS blocking like China. Payment providers (such as MasterCard or PayPal) would have to stop completing payment to the payment account used by the site. Finally, advertisers would have to complete three separate actions: cut off any ads that they were serving to the site, cut off any advertisements for the site served on other websites, and finally, cut off payments stemming from advertisements.

The overwhelming controversy regarding SOPA's public remedies (that is, those initiated by the attorney general rather than a private party) regards the provision allowing a court to order a service provider - essentially an unwitting middleman - to take all "technically feasible and reasonable measures" to block an infringing site.

SOPA further provides what it calls a "Market-Based System to … Protect US Property." This "market-based system" is a private mechanism by which an IP holder can pressure payment network providers and internet advertising services to cease all transactions with "sites dedicated to theft of US property."

from Spinningplatters.com:

"Alarmingly, as of this writing, amongst the Stereogums and Pitchforks of the world, the only major music blog I’ve seen mention SOPA is the always appropriately ardent BrooklynVegan. A quick Twitter search of #BlackOutSOPA (which I’ll discuss soon), along with lists of top indie and mainstream musicians, revealed that MC Hammer was the only artist supporting the “Stop SOPA” campaign.

The reason I point this out is because musical artists and blogs, in general, would suffer the most with the new sets of restrictions placed on their online distribution channels. Anyone slightly familiar with the musical tech space could tell you that the Internet has had a much-needed liberating impact for most artists and has enabled many more to have a fruitful career without having to rely on major corporations. A bill like SOPA would put the power right back into the hands of greedy executives and stifle the promotional efforts of way too many independent artists."
