It's Naomi Watts As Princess Diana

I forgot that this was happening, but this is definitely happening. Naomi Watts is in Croatia shooting the movie Caught in Flight, which IMDB says is only going to focus on the time in Princess Diana's life when she had an affair with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn (played by Sayid from Lost). So yeah, unfortunately there won't be a scene in the movie of Princess Diana giving birth to an orb of ginger sunshine and naming him Prince Harry.

These are some of the first pictures of Naomi in full Princess Di drag and I don't know. In some angles, Naomi looks so much like Princess Di that "Candle in the Wind" starts playing in my head and in other angles, she just looks like Naomi Watts in a reworked Leif Garrett wig. Whatever, I'm sure she'll pull it off and if she doesn't, at least she can recycle that wig and wear it to play Tina Brown in a biopic.

Avalon - I totally agree. She was a tremendous diplomat from the royal family. She was constantly visiting with sick kids and putting herself in dangerous situations (i.e. the land mine thing). It's easy to dismiss her as another waste of space, but I do think she was a lot more than that. And, of course, "The Diana Chronicles" is a damn must-read!

As to Watts, seriously, wha' happen? This is the worst Di I've ever seen.

Yes, Tina Brown absolutely! Excellent call. Not Diana, though. I wasn't a huge fan of Diana, either, but I will say this for her. I was living in the SF Bay Area in the 80's, when it was just beginning to be noticed that Something Was Wrong, in relation to lots of otherwise healthy young men turning up with bizarre purple lesions all over them, dying of lung diseases that hadn't been seen for hundreds of years, etc, and nobody knew what the hell it was, but everybody was scared shitless. I remember people being admitted to hospitals, with doctors entering their rooms in space suits, like they were involved in a moon landing. A lot of those guys died with no one touching them, because no one knew whether the disease could be spread through the air, by touch, or what.

In the midst of that, Diana (for whatever reason), took it upon herself to be filmed visiting hospital bound people who were dying of AIDS, sitting close to them, holding hands with them. She was as responsible as any single person or any facts campaign, for making the general public aware that one could not "catch" AIDS, just by being close to someone who had it, and for that, I think she deserves a tremendous amount of credit. It has largely been forgotten now, but her actions really did make a big impact, at the time.

I agree with others who said the hair is way too thin and wispy; Diana's hair was lots thicker. Also, this color doesn't seem right to me, either. Seems like Diana's hair was more golden-blonde...this hair looks almost grey. Too ashy.
