It's James Franco As The Young Wizard Of Oz

This is what Disney got when they threw together $200 million, Sam Raimi James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff (???) and slightly more special effects than your average Mimi photo shoot. This is the trailer for the prequel of Wizard of Oz, Oz: The Great And Powerful and it comes out next year after the world has ended.

James Franco plays some kind of scheming magician who gets sucked into a tornado and travels to a land made of leftover CGI effects from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. James then meets the three witches: Mila Kunis, who looks like a cross between a bootleg Carmen Sandiego and a lost character from Clue, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams. Even in a damn children's movie Michelle Williams looks sad, cold and on the verge of tears. Somebody get her a space blanket and a basket of kittens. Michelle plays Glinda, so shouldn't she be like singing and blowing out bubbles and shit? Anyway, once James meets them, they somehow decide that he's the first coming of God and is going to save Oz. It's kind of like how James Franco thinks he, James Franco, is the first coming of God and is going to save us with his ART.

Also, am I the only one who wishes that Oz: The Great And Powerful was a movie about Christopher Meloni having non-stop butt sex in a prison shower?

Oh my God, my little sister and I did the same thing!!! Once a year, when Wizard was shown, we would have our "Wizard of Oz" party - decorate the tv room, special food, etc. Good times, something to be said for only showing a special movie once and awhile.

Looks like a mixup of Willy Wonka, Alice in Wonderland, and Snow White + the usual blend of CGI weird little animal fairies that are in all the Disney movies now.

About as interesting as a broken toothpick.

Who cares about Oz's backstory? The mystery of some characters is what makes the damn movie interesting.

The Kansas tornado/twister scene in the 1939 film still packs a punch. For the time, they did an amazing job with the effects for that scene - very realistic...and NO freakin' computer generated effects.

I remember waaaaay back when CBS would air "The Wizard of Oz" on television once per year. It was a very special event in my house for me and my siblings...popcorn, and lying on the living room floor watching the film. The 1939 MGM production was and is a wonderful, captivating, imaginative (thank you to Mr. Baum and the MGM producers) and technicolourful journey down the yellow brick road.

An incredible experience for me was, years ago, seeing "The Wizard of Oz" on the big screen at a local rep cinema. The print was pristine, and my GOD what a whole different experience when watching this film in a cinema. Timeless and magic.

But...THIS!? The ONLY thing I ever liked Franco in was the aborted "Freaks & Geeks". Since then, he's morphed into both.

Blah...sometimes CGI ruinss things. They did a sequel called Return to Oz that was pretty decent, but too dark for children. That is the type of movie that I would like to see.

The recent Alice in Wonderland had me rooting for the evil queen, because the white queen was so freaking annoying.

When they make the movie version of the play "Wicked", all I ask is that they cast Reese Witherspoon as Ga-Linda. Her Legally Blonde persona would make a perfect Ga-Linda. I've seen "Wicked", and the green witch definitely has the better pipes, so it won't really matter that Reese can't sing. Sorry to the Reese haters, but I'd rather see her play Ga-linda (the best character in the play) than Taylor Swift or some dark sided shit like that.
