Last year, a picture made the rounds of Daniel Day-Lewis eating a salad while showing us what it would look like if Abraham Lincoln co-founded Apple and invented the iPhone that picture was taken on. Well, here's an official picture of DDL in full Lincoln drag in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, which comes out in November and also stars Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. DDL looks more like Lincoln than that creepy animatronic Lincoln in Disneyland's Hall of Presidents. You just want to scream at that picture, "DON'T SIT THERE! GO TO THE BATHROOM! GET SOME FRESH AIR! THIS PLAY SUCKS ANYWAY! GET A KARDASHIAN TO FILL YOUR SEAT!"
And I know Lincoln is supposed to be getting into the play, but those slightly rolled eyes to me that he's rolling his second blunt.

I get what you're saying and I've liked him in most of the films I've seen him in. I refuse to watch him interviewed though so I will keep liking his roles. :) Maybe it's the type of films he does? Especially the artsy ones where the dialog is not always realistic.
I can't believe Spielberg was actually able to create a movie that is not about WWII. He must have four or five of those in the works.

Lincoln was as depressed as a sober irishman. Hence Daniel Day Lewis, a sober irishman, is the perfect person to play him.
I'm pretty sure my 8th grade History teacher wanted to fuck Lincoln.
Lincoln is an interesting guy. And DDL, AKA the original hipster, really looks like him. Wonder if they'll get real and go into his depression, his dabbling with the occult and the dreams of his own death. Went on the Whitehouse tours and he is suppose to be one of the ghostly inhabitants.
I'm sure I'll get crucified for saying it, but I think Daniel Day Lewis is by far one of the most overrated actors in the business. I just find his acting style so affected and over the top. None of his characters ever speak like any human beings I've ever met. Maybe it's an accent thing, lots of actors over pronounce when they're doing an accent but that doesn't explain his scenery chewing. His performance in Gangs of New York could easily work just as well if not better in a comedy.
I don't care for Sally Field however it seems an ingenious bit of casting for the part of Mary Todd Lincoln. She has hit it out of the park a few times but DDL is always superb.
