Amanda Bynes Might Be Crazy In A For Real Way
Amanda Bynes' neighbors are collectively throwing an army of side-eyes at the media for painting her as nothing but a spoiled dumb stoner, because they think she has serious mental problems. Like "5150 this ho and get Daddy Spears to make her some Velveeta grits" kind of mental problems.
One of Amanda's neighbors tells TMZ that he once watched her have a serious conversation with an inanimate object and other neighbors have seen her talking to no one. They haven't told the authorities or her family or anything, because they don't want to get involved. Besides, when you go to the authorities and tell them Amanda is acting crazy, they won't give you a money order made out to cash, so it's better just to go to TMZ.
Some people who work out next to Amanda at the Equinox in West Hollywood also say that she regularly brings the crazy. Amanda always looks dazed, has conversations with herself, laughs for no reason and they say she's getting worse and worse.
Yes, Amanda could be in need of a 5150, but it could also be nothing. If you asked my neighbors about me, they'd probably say that I'm crazy with invisible friends and I regularly talk to myself in the hallways and the only visits I get are from the Fresh Direct delivery people and some dude with a bulging backpack that smells like Irish Spring and cheap cologne (that's my weed man). I mean, I talk to myself all the time. I know all of my posts read like I just barfed out the words in 10 seconds, but sometimes I put some serious thought into this shit. Finding different ways to describe the journey of a fart is hard work. So sometimes when I'm walking my dog, I'll write the post in my head and then say it out loud to myself. I'm sure many people who have witnessed me talking to myself have called Bellevue to tell them that one of their patients escaped to Brooklyn. "You better come quick and you better bring a tranquilizer gun, because it looks like he's taken a little black dog hostage" is what they say to the operator at Bellevue.
What I'm saying is that Amanda and I should share a room at Bellevue, because we're both fucking nuts.
Or this could really, really be nothing. Maybe Amanda's just talking into her Bluetooth headset? Because talking into a Bluetooth headset makes everyone look like a schizophrenic.

Someone down thread said this might be the answer to a Blind Item, where a former teen starlet was going to stage a mental breakdown in order to revive her flagging career. I really hope that's not the case....it's already difficult enough for truly mentally ill people to seek out help and get treatment; they don't need fake ass fakers pulling stupid stunts for attention.

My daughter is schizophrenic and bi-polar and it is truly not a laughing matter
A dear friend of mine adult son is severely schizophrenic. Her trials have been endless and heartbreaking. Her son was diagnosed in college and he's been in/out of hospitals for years.
He is good when he's on his meds but really out of control when he's off. I asked her about this and she said the meds have really bad side affects, including loss of sex drive so he goes off and another bad episode happens. She is hugely active with NAMI on a state and national level.
I hope this young women is not schizophenic but if she is, someone needs to get her help because the way she's driving and "bumping" into cars, she is a danger to society. and even if she's just looking for attention and is using drugs/alcohol--she still needs help.

My neighbour suffers from mental illness. When off his meds he breaks every light in the block he can reach, plays tennis alone, goes for random walks or just stands in the dark outside his door alone. He gets visits from police vans ever so often kicking his door off and taking him away. He is however a nice,intelligent,charming gentleman who found my ps3 on my doorstep and kept it safe for me, he is more on time with his rent than I have ever been and has a job which I don't. I speak to myself its not only a habit, I don't remember not doing it. Mental illness is one of lifes mysteries, I agree it might be from the brain working on a different wavelength.

Dog, Dan Schneider is the creator of most if not all the shows on Nickelodeon. He was also on Head of the Class, he was the fat one. There have been rumors about him for years. It's probably like any time a person with authority takes advantage of a young person. There is INTENSE pressure on these kids, usually by their fucked-up desperate parents, to get/keep the part.
There are HUNDREDS of kids competing for one lousy walk-on, non-speaking bit part. Parents relocate their whole families to live in some shitty apartment in LA and bankrupt themselves on acting lessons and headshots. The stakes are incredibly high. And if one kid doesn't want to play, there's another who's more than eager to.
If the parents know, they probably look the other way. I'm sure we never hear about the kids who say no, because they don't get the parts.

I can believe she's crazy, but not for the talking to herself bit. Plenty of sane people (plus me!) do that.
I can believe Hekki about what the adults in charge did to her as a teen star. And I'm amazed that no one has tried to have her hospitalised yet - that we know of. Her behaviour's not normal, and she might well kill someone if left to her own devices. Whether that's because crazy or a dickhead, I don't know, but still.
It is ridiculously hard for an adult to find help for mental illness. An old friend of ours was dxed bipolar and schizophrenic a few years back, after extended periods of self-medicating with cocaine and alcohol. He did well enough on his meds for several years to get married, have kids and hold down a decent job. IDK if he stopped his meds or what happened, but within the last year he got divorced, was back on cocaine and alcohol, hospitalized twice for mental stuff, lost his house, got fired from his job cause he attacked coworkers while high and is now in jail awaiting trial for arson. I feel bad for him, but he can be so unpredictable, that I can`t have him around our family. I hope this girl has someone in her life who can get her some help before she kills someone or herself.

Thanks to my co-worker's son's story I now know that the FBI actually does have people who are available to speak to those who think this one or that one is after them. These agents are specially trained in dealing with people with mental illness to "take a report" and to promise to hunt the stalker down while speaking to the caller in a way that will hopefully calm them down enough to say where they are so an ambulance can be called.

I know it is not the same, but my uncle was schisophrenic, and he was the nicest guy, but so scary. My Dad took him in for awhile, so I grew up, as a 6 year old, with a full on delusional man. I know how it is.

If talking to oneself definitively means schizophrenia than I have been schizophrenic since I was two. I find that talking to myself can help me organize what I need to do and it can also help me vent anger privately rather than possibly hurt someone's feelings by lashing out.

mike: Mike, we have a similar story. One of Mr. Hekki's friends from school is (was?) a brilliant guy. Very charming and interesting to talk to. The kids loved him, too. He was SO smart, and talented. Wealthy family, all the advantages.
Mr. Hekki gave him a job, and slowly started to realize he was "off". This guy had intense pain in his scrotum because the government was shooting remote lasers into his groin. He went downtown to FBI headquarters to log a complaint in person (*facepalm*). He wound up couch-surfing and then sleeping at Mr. Hekki's office and showering at his gym. One night he caused a fair amount of property damage in a fit of violence. That's where Mr. Hekki drew the line.
Mr. Hekki and a bunch of school chums pooled together some cash and put him on a bus to rural PA where one of the friends offered to put him up and give him a job. He never arrived. He was suspicious of everyone, so he probably got off somewhere he wasn't supposed to, to give everyone the slip.
Mr. Hekki and I both have had possible sightings of this guy back here in Manhattan.
He has a family, but I don't know the whole story there. I'm pretty sure they have tried to help, but as we all know, it's very hard to commit someone against their will. Although I'm sure the FBI has a file...

for work i did for about 17 years, periodically i had to do investigative interviews with schizophrenics -- both late-onset and early onset. from what they and those around them consistently told me, they had no shame about their auditory or visual hallucinations -- their hallucinations were as much a part of their life as their blood relatives. one person told me she was proud to have been "blessed" with that
special power. as an aside, the people around the early onset schizophrenics (i.e. those whose symptoms manifested in childhood) tended to think they were just liars that needed to have the lies beaten out of them, rather than seeing the mental illness

If I didn't know better, I'd swear you are my co-worker (call her "A"). Her son (call him "B") is bi-polar and is a paranoid schizophrenic. He is 24 (I think) and when on his meds he's perfectly fine, if a little obsessive-compulsive about stuff. The problem is, his meds have some fairly unpleasant side effects so he is off them more than on. Several weeks ago someone who knew his situation decided to amuse himself by convincing B that there was someone who had targeted him and A for death. He kept pushing B until B had a psychotic break which resulted in him running out into the street and nearly getting hit by a car. He disappeared for several days and of course A was frantic. When they finally found B they had to call the police to get him calmed down enough to get him into the ambulance and they transported him to the hospital. He was heavily medicated for days and when they finally started to bring him out of it, his mental state was so stressed, no one could convince him that he and his mother were fine: no one was after them. He had to be committed by A (nothing new for her) and then when he did the three months, he was allowed to leave and he's back home with her. On his meds and doing well but she has to wonder how long he'll say on them. Throughout all of this A remains cheerful and positive. She still is always there for other people and never complains - none of us had any inkling of what she was going through when her son was missing. I cry when I think of how alone she felt because she was taught that you don't reach out to people you work with. One day she told me and I felt my knees get weak.
MissLainey, my heart truly goes out to you. Even knowing what A goes through worrying about her son on a daily basis, I still have no real idea of what that must be like for her and for you.

My experience leads me to believe that its almost impossible for a person to sober up as long as they have an enabler removing their consequences. And a wealthy, appearance conscious parent, can do lots of enabling.

I spoke to a schizophrenic once, though I did not know it at the time, and he was truly speaking and reacting to his own inner world and it was indeed disturbing. I also knew a paranoid schizophrenic who was a more or less functional adult. He was very sensitive to interpersonal conflict, even finding good natured kidding among others disturbing. He struck me as heroically struggling with a difficult lot in life.
My compassion to the loved ones of those afflicted. One of my adult kids gets in trouble, so I understand how painful children issues can be.
Look I am nuts too but thank God I am not famous....I keep my crazy on the down low, but I talk to my critters which is a step above inanimate objects, me thinks she is on heavy drugs, that is what usually makes you let the crazy flag fly,cause you have run out of shits to give

As rick james said, 'cocaine is a helluva drug'. Until she has a few months of sobriety and gets psych eval, it is impossible to know where the crazy behavior comes from.

One of the things that has diminished our culture happened when phones got so small you don't talk into them anymore. So, folks tend to talk louder on the phone than in normal conversation, and irritate all those around them.
And, yes, somebody walking in the grocery store while yapping loudly into thin air with a blue thing in their ear does make an ass of themselves.

Maybe it's my own bias, but I think those Bluetooth headpieces have peaked and people use them much less today because talking into one while shopping or on a metro did make you look schizo.
If talking to oneself definitively means schizophrenia than I have been schizophrenic since I was two. I find that talking to myself can help me organize what I need to do and it can also help me vent anger privately rather than possibly hurt someone's feelings by lashing out.
