My dad was an immigrant and took his obligation and privilege to vote VERY seriously. He served in Vietnam to get his American citizenship, and valued it.

He was very proud every time he voted, and if you asked him who he voted for, he'd say "I don't have to tell you. It's a secret ballot." It cracked me up that he was so serious and adamant about that. He never tried to get out of jury duty, either, because that is another civic duty and privilege.
