Elmo Loses His Voice As Another Accuser Drops From The Sky (UPDATE)
I don't like that it took two accusations of illegal boy boning, but I am glad that Elmo can't let out another nerve-killing, soul-butchering annoying cackle for now. Elmo is temporarily mute today, because his voice box has quit this bitch and is done fisting Muppets. After 28 years of being the voice of Elmo, Kevin Clash is no longer the voice of Elmo. Sesame Street released this statement to everyone today:
Sesame Workshop's mission is to harness the educational power of media to help all children the world over reach their highest potential. Kevin Clash has helped us achieve that mission for 28 years, and none of us, especially Kevin, want anything to divert our attention from our focus on serving as a leading educational organization. Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding Kevin's personal life has become a distraction that none of us want, and he has concluded that he can no longer be effective in his job and has resigned from Sesame Street. This is a sad day for Sesame Street.
Usually, when a dude resigns from his job while in the middle of a sexo escandalo, it means that more accusers are about to come forward and another one has. 30-something Cecil Singleton, the one on the right serving up some subway-style El Debarge-ness, has gone to TMZ and showed them on the Elmo doll where Elmo tickled him when he was 15. Cecil now joins Sheldon Stephens in The Elmo's Underage Pieces Club.
Sheldon allegedly got around $125,000 to go away, but Cecil wants around $5 million. Cecil is suing Kevin Clash for $5 million, because he says he "did not become aware that he had suffered adverse psychological and emotional effects from Kevin Clash's sexual acts and conduct until 2012."
In Cecil's lawsuit, he says that he met Kevin Clash on a gay phone chat line in 1993. Cecil was 15 at the time and Kevin was 32. The two met in person and Cecil says Kevin tried to gain his trust by taking him to fancy dinners and giving him money. Cecil says that he wasn't the only one and Kevin regularly had sex with teenage boys he met on the chat line.
This mess was already a come-to-life nightmare and now it's an even bigger come-to-life nightmare, and a lot has to do with 900 numbers from the 90s being brought up. I completely blocked out the tragic memory of lying to my mom when she asked my why there was $30 worth of 1-900 charges on her phone bill. To think, I could've told her that I was just having a G-rated conversation with Elmo. UGH!
I'm sure the next accuser is going to show all of us a face-less, shirtless picture that Elmo e-mailed him after meeting in an AOL chat room. I hate Elmo even more now. Put that sucio bitch in prison and make Grover the star of Sesame Street for once and for all.
UPDATE: Cecil Singleton's lawyer apparently made a typo on the documents. Cecil says he's currently 24 years old and not in his 30s. The alleged abuse happened in 2003, not 1993. Wait, so gay phone chat lines existed in 2003?!

Fuckin A. When I was 17 I was nailing a chick in her late 30's. Do I wanna find her and slap a lawsuit on her ass? Hell no. First of all I don't wanna know what she looks like now and B. if I did run in to her I would give her a tit shake and a twist for teaching me a couple of things... bottom line for me is, I was just as sexually active in my teens as I am now... maybe more so.

Wasn't drawing a parallel between the victims, or imply that they were grifters, just saying that the predators were the same, not the victims, and I wasn't playing stupid or even coming close to saying that those much younger children in much more precarious positions are similar to these guys. Those children came to their situation with clean hands, I never said these guys were innocent, I only said that their lack of innocence didn't mean they weren't victimized, I just said it made them easy pickings.

This is all very sad and fucked up. And I am IN NO WAY defending predatory sex. However, how is it that Cecil didn't realize he was damaged from his relationship with Clash until 2012? Could it be that he learned that he could turn this into a huge payday in 2012?

Sesame Street USEd to be a show that recognized Who Children Are, at their beat and worst: all Kids CAN be a cookie monster, a grouch, a dreamer, have imaginary friends..... Not only did Elmo dumb it all down, followed by Zoe and Rosita, but it became a show that sought to manipulate kids in order to mold them how adults saw fit: cookie monster now eats a balanced diet, and a dirty grouch is not what we want to influence kids, now is it? And everything is a fucking lesson.
Kids know when they are being manipulated. I'm guessing that not a single person who programs that show now is a parent.

Girlfromipanema, I read your post, and like dementa said, that sounds horrifying and I'm so sorry that happened to you and those other innocent children. A relative of mine was abused as a teenager, and to this day she refuses to tell anyone the name of who abused her. And when she finally did break down about the abuse alone, it wasn't pretty and the last thing she wanted was to take it to court and prosecute because she was ashamed and just wanted it to go away, even though she did nothing wrong. I have seen actual victim mentality of actual victim, and these two assholes do not exhibit it. I have seen just how hard it is for victims to speak about their experiences and try really hard to get past what happened to them, I've had a few friends break down mid-way talking about it.
Does Clash come off smelling like roses? No, but like others have said, NO ONE in this case does.

What's more horrifying is that he only got 3 months in jail. Then got out and started doing it again. I was contacted by the DA's office when I was 19 to testify against him in a case where he raped a 12 year old girl. He ended up taking a plea deal, which gave him 25 years, with option of parole after 15, and time off for good behavior. After 15 years, he'll be 61.. still plenty of time for him to do plenty more damage. You better believe I will get my ass on a plane and testify before the parole board to keep this shit locked up as long as possible.

I meant the VICTIMS in the Sandusky case VS. these supposed victims of Clash.
I have known people OF ACTUAL abuse. I have had relatives and close friends of actual abuse as both adults and children. THEY DID NOT want to do what these perverts were forcing them to fucking do. They were not OKAY with what was being done to them, they felt wrong about it, and WERE VICTIMS. They were silent due to the ramifications they felt would happen to them, if they told(the ones who were abused as children). Luckily one of the sick bastards was ACTUALLY caught and DID go to jail. And the last thought on their mind was "how do I get a pay day out of it." It was years of feeling like shit and therapy.
In regards to these kids. DO NOT, AND I REPEAT DO NOT...tell me the victims of Sandusky are in the same miserable fucked up boat as these grifters in connection with CLASH AND DO FUCKING NOT play stupid and act as if my main point was about Sandusky and not his victims.

I'm going to venture that a 15 year old calling up a gay chat line was probably done on their own accord, while a 15 year old prostitute has likely been trafficked. However, that doesn't change the fact that Elmo is a fucking perv.
IF these boys lied about their age and consented, I have a hard time with them calling themselves victims. I feel for them because, if they did so, they were very disturbed kids. But if this is the case (which I have no idea either way, and it doesn't diminish the fact that Clash is sick), it is not the same thing as a fifteen year old girl being kidnapped, raped, drugged, and told that if she doesn't sell her body, they will hurt her more and/or hurt her family or friend/s. Nor is it the same thing as a 15 year old boy being overpowered by Sandusky in a shower or a teacher going after her male pupil, as it's assumed she knows her pupil's real age. (Please notice the IFs.. I have no idea what actually happened) If Clash knew their real ages though, he deserves everything he gets as a result of these guys coming forward (still not the same as Sandusky or all those teachers you hear about though).
The sad fact is that more girls are abused than boys. It doesn't make any of it right. Also, we tend to hear more about the girls, as female victims/survivors come out publicly more often than male victims/survivors. Either way, victims' stories and motives are always questioned. We need to change this, and those falsely crying "I'm a victim" need to be kicked in their crotches. They make every true account given by a victim be questioned, and often dismissed, as a fabrication.
I was abused by a neighbor at 7. Thankfully, my parents taught me well and he barely got his hands on me before I ran out of there, dragging my little sister with me (he didn't lay a hand on her, thankfully). I went to the cops, and it turns out I was his oldest victim and that he had abused most of the kids younger than me in the neighborhood. The part that broke my heart more than my own abuse - the fact that he abused his 2 year old son.

I agree the two "victims" were shady and at the time were all for it and thought they knew what they were doing (which makes it VERY different than Sandusky). BUT sometimes you do shit when you're that young not knowing there will be repercussions for it later in your life, and it can come back to haunt you. Which maybe it did, or maybe it didn't here. That's why, the OLDER person should know better, and say no.

I referenced Sandusky as a PREDATOR, which does no disservice to his victims. He's a recent example of a predator who got caught, and sent to jail, where all predatory people belong. Since Sandusky fell into the "typical predatory behavior" category, he's fair game to use as an example of someone who used his position of power to commit crimes and take advantage of children who were already disadvantaged BECAUSE they were disadvantaged, and less credible. Underage is under age.

I'm torn on the notion. On the one hand, victims really do repress abuse. On the other hand, as you suggest, it lets alleged victims file claims many years after majority, when all of the witnesses and evidence are dead, diluted, etc.
Another concern is, if there were a set limitations period after majority, the abuser might keep grooming and spoiling the victim till the period ran out. You could see a bit of that going on between Sandusky and his now-adult victims.

I don't sympathize with those two at all. They are trying to get a payday, and it's obvious that Clash wasn't the only one on those asses back then.
But the lack of damage doesn't make Clash blameless, and it doesn't excuse him from what he did. That would be like saying that a burglar who accidentally steals costume jewelry instead of the real thing isn't really guilty because he didn't actually cost his victims any money.
And it raises the question, did he target any young boys who WEREN'T grifter types? Maybe he did, and maybe they were actually hurt.
