The feminist in me wants to applaud her for her confidence and almost defiant flaunting of her frumpiness. Why should she have to kowtow to the Hollywood standards of beauty? The misogynist in me is disgusted that a young woman with her money and opportunity would willingly uglify herself, and I'd bet money she doesn't shave her armpits.

EXACTLY. How many are truly 1%ers? Not many. Most people are the Horatio Alger heroes of the 21st centuries...make it or die trying. Come on..isn't that what the American Dream used to be about? Granted, no one can really take that rosy of an outlook anymore, but I do not see the harm in giving it the old college try.
It's just proof positive that most productions are controlled by just a FEW small entities. This is why you see much of the same junk out there - those production companies are the ONLY ones that can get funding or theatrical release rights. The big studios are basically contracted and work with production companies - just a few. It's a mean business. It's basically like high school for the rich and mean.

I have to agree, Princess. I hate being critical...too busy being critical of my own failings (of which their are MANY).
I suppose I just hated what she said about writers and how it was ever so "WEIRD" how they wanted to make a living writing. If you ever met some of the writers I met at the studios, you would know that so many of them are so passionate. I love passion for work...I see so little of it in my own position. I respect it. When you can truly have the courage to follow what you love, what your heart calls for, then it is amazing to do so. Many of those people survive on nothing and do crap jobs to do so. They work for a dream. Not many are brave enough to do it!

Ugggh...that show "Girls" is just insufferable. I thought the acting on her part was just WOODEN. I really did not care for it.
Plus, and I hate to say this, but she has such a strange shape - very blocky. You would think with money and access to stylists that she could dress it better. She looks like a block dressed in a curtain. Uggh.
Whatever, Weight Watchers should've known what they were in for when they had to film her commercial literally from the chin(s) up. Most stars at least show some sort of signs of improvement but she was STILL fat.
That Freaks and Geeks reunion was so delightful to see and read. Severely underrated show . I have the DVD set and rewatch all 13 episodes every now and then. James Franco was a lot hotter and a lot less wierdly pretentious back then. Glad he showed up.

YES I read an interview with her and she was asked about the 'controversy' that there are no people of color in the show. She said that about writing what she knows and her mom is Jewish and her dad is white (or vice versa) so two character on the show are Jewish and two are generic waspy characters, so she intentionally based ALL four characters are based on herself.
