Today's news is filled with nothing but real-life nightmares after real-life nightmares and you kind of just want to get under the covers, crawl to the bottom of your bed and stay there until the world finally collapses. There is no "root" of the issue, unless you're talking about gun control, but that's a whole other story. You can't predict these types of things, there is no set brain type or personality type that defines a serial killer. Yes, some have been anti-social, but not all. I am so sick of this prejudice against introverts and shy people, ugh. I remember, in 7th grade, this kid made a hit list and was planning on killing some of his very own friends, he was a football player, but he was so crazy he thought everyone was plotting against him. Luckily, someone ratted him out and he was sent away. So now, it's not just anti-social people.

Anti-social and Asocial are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS. Anti-social does NOT refer to someone who is shy or is a 'loner'. Anti-social means someone who refuses to comply with the laws,rules of society. Most of these people are psychopaths. These are people who lack empathy towards other living beings and will put their own desires over other's rights.
An asocial person is a person who does not,for whatever reason, be it shyness or mental illness or fear does not socialize very much or at all with other people. These people do not necessarily lack empathy towards other beings nor do they necessarily have issues with complying with society's laws and rules.
Most psychopaths are very sociable people. You have to be in order to pretend to be normal so that you can manipulate people to suit your own desires. There are exceptions, like the Unabomber but again, an EXCEPTION and he likely had other disorders/mental illness other than being BOTH asocial and antisocial.

You really can't unless you can find an older post where their name is unclickable, like lousie brokks said. It doesn't really "ban" someone, it merely shuts down and deactivates the name they were posting under... it certainly does not prevent that person from creating a new user name. People argue that banning ip's is the way to go but we all know there is a variety of free software out there that will mask your ip address... I think when people get "deactivated" it's more like a "Hey! we will have none of that shit" kinda thing... lets people know that MK and/or the moderator/moderators don't approve of what was being written... *shrugs*

My friend (no where near where this happen) had to pick up her son today from school to take him to the doctor because he was puking his face off, and they told her she couldn't pick up her kid unless she showed them her license/photo I.D. first. She was pissed because she had to walk back to her car to get it, and I told her to be thankful that this school was taking extra measures to ensure her kids safety. About a month or so back, some motherfucker called in threats to a school in the surrounding area just so he could get out of court for child-support, because he knew every major public building would be locked down. It turns out the school he did threaten was a school my friend's daughter and HIS daughter attended and WAS in the same class together...
When shit like this REALLLY happens, tragedy happens, and when people make false calls, it uses so many man hours and resources and terrifies so many. Ugh, I want to move to some unknown field and be away from all this. HERMITS DON'T KILL! Psychos do! All hail the Hermits!

An NPR report said that there were parents of all the kids from other classes, tearfully reuniting with their children. And there's a group of parents from one class who are standing around, not getting their kids.

That reminds me of the scene in "Jaws" when the kids come running out of the water and reunite with their mothers, until there is just one mother left alone on the beach. That scene gets me every time.

There is no one cause for something like this, just as there is no single solution. There is a myriad of things that make something like this and other similar tragedies possible and many of them are not from a lack of vigilance, but a plain and simple need to not have ever applied precautions against it.

You mean to tell me that if some person who is mentally deranged wants to kill a bunch of people, that they won't find some means of doing it? If this guy hadn't had access to guns, he would have built a bomb or come up with some other way of accomplishing what he wanted to accomplish. The guy was mentally off the charts.
What's more sad than the fact that 10,000 animals got euthanized today? The fact that because of the ignorance of humans, it will happen again tomorrow. End the cycle. Spay and neuter your pets & please adopt your next pet from a shelter.

You know what is a crime? Murder. You know what every single mass murder over the last decade has had in common be they loner or not? Automatic weapons. Other countries have just as much if not more exposure to sex, violence and the internet, but we, by far, have the most murders and its not all due to loners...
