ICYMI: Beyonce And Kelly Clarkson At The Inauguration
Above is President Obama's #1 fangirl waaaaah-awwwww-eeeeee-waaaaah-ing her way through the Star Spangled Banner at the Inauguration today. Beyonce pulled her earpiece out halfway through, because if you really want to look like you're seriously singing, pull your earpiece out halfway through. Beyonce also pulled it out, because she was yodeling so damn much that it was about to pop out of her ear anyway.
Below is Ron Paul's #1 fangirl Kelly Clarkson singing My Country 'Tis Of Thee. Kelly sang the skin on her tonsils off, but just like stars on the American flag and a single tear drop on an eagle's cheek, this song is not complete without Aretha Franklin's national treasure of a hat. Kelly definitely needed to put a bow on it.

I didn't see Beyonce sing, I HEARD it on the radio and the very first thing I thought of was that Beyonce didn't even bother to change the arrangement from Whitney Houston's classic. Beyonce sang the song fine, just didn't make it her own. Whitney is still the standard that no one can reach.
She sound just like Whitney, just not as epic.
Kelly is a fine singer. And I don't think she's gay either. Just a devote singer and musician.

Looking at the video and the way Michelle Obama looks at Beyonce, it's hard for me to believe she is as enchanted with her as the President is.
And I usually HATE Beyonce's singing but I thought she did great and she looked gorgeous. But her walking around like fucking royalty was ridiculous.
Kelly strikes me as a real, honest to goodness, down to earth hor. Not afraid to toss back a few beers at the lake, get sand in her ass and sweat in her hair playing beach volleyball, and tossing DOWN some BBQ. Gotta like that.

I am no Beyonce fan. And I hate caterwauling. But I think she had a really good arrangement (minus the vocal loop-dee-loops) for her range.
She did a good job. Not bad, not great. Good.
Same goes for Kelly, who I think has a wider vocal range than Beyonce, but less star quality.
As for whether we should or shouldn't "do it up" as a nation for the President's Inauguration, FUCKING A! People need food for their spirits as well as for their stomachs.
What were they supposed to do? Stay at home and send out for pizza?

Agree 100%. Celebs at inaugurations cheapen the event, unless you have achieved legendary status and your talent is an indisputable fact.
Having said that, Kelly Clarkson rarely disappoints. Her voice is amazing.
Whitney in her prime vs. Beyonce in hers = no contest.

Kelly Clarkson was great. just great. i wouldn't know what to say about beyonce however because i left the room when she started howling. but history dictates that her signing has always been god awful so i guess its safe to conclude that she was just as unbearable today

Good job..both? Kelly still killed it. Who cares if it wasn't as well as Aretha. Kelly just does her performances how she wants and doesn't really seem to care about comparisons. I think she is happy that she get's to sing. Something tells me if her and Beyonce became irrelevant at the same time, we would be seeing lots of Beyonce's crotch and Kelly would be singing in a bar in Texas happy as a clam.

Well said. I used to LOVE her, but years of hearing/seeing bad things have jaded the opinion, much like a ton of 'stars' out there.
I'm mostly stupefied about her apparent self-proclaimed icon status. No dear, you haven't earned that yet. Diva maybe. Work harder or sit down, and have the grace to let some new talent shine at events like this. I'm ashamed of the president for not giving equal chances to Americans to be a part of everything and being in the payola pocket. Nothing says land of opportunity like using the most over exposed pop-star on the planet to perform at both your inaugurations. Not to mention the fact that she isn't a very good singer and there are millions of people who would have done a better job. I'm still salty about how she blocked Etta James from singing her own signature song for the Obamas at the last inauguration when Etta could've at least accompanied her for a verse (out of respect). She just doesn't seem to have any grace or class and her welcome is getting thinner and thinner by the minute because, unlike Sade and other icons, Beyonce doesn't know when to pull back and sit down so others can have a chance to shine.
