Open Post: Hosted By Mariska The Jail-Breaking Horse
Trace Cyrus and Sarah Jessica Parker better hope that if they ever get locked up that they get locked up next to Mariska, because if they keep on her good side, she will set them free. Mariska is my kind of horse, because not only is she a masterful escape artist, but she's also a grudge-keeping bitch. I see Mariska struttin' on by her neighbor's stall like, "Bye bitch." Mariska's neighbor probably sniffed her man's ass and now she's paying the price by staying locked up. Mariska always remembers.

I'm a day late and a donut short, but for why wasn't Mariska HSOTD? She really should have been!

Everybody whip your phones out, because PHG will get drunk, he will take all of his panties off and we must get a picture of his royal ginger scepter and globes this time. Don't fuck it up.
My horse used to do that. Steal things, play with the hose, hide stuff, you name it. I miss my old girl.

Yeah, Pushy, I do wish he'd win for making us laugh everyday. He's a really talented writer.
What probably 'expired' though, was if you had kept that page open too long with the anti-bot security code box (those wiggly letters you have to type in) those will time-out after being open for a number of minutes.
Perhaps, if you want to vote for MK, you could vote for 2 of the 'friends' he usually links to in his Crumbs? He links to them, and they link to him, for cross-customer base (helping each other out) type thing. ;-)
ETA: You can probably just refresh that page and type everything in again, if you want to try. ;-)
Esteem, :-* said it was expired. I don't go to 3 blogs so I guess I couldn't vote anyhow but wouldn't it be neat if MK won on Dlisted 8th anniv.
Submitted by can be a pushy broad on Wed, 01/23/2013 - 11:35am.
It's an awards show for web blogs Pushy. Nothing fancy like the Globes, mind you, but...
You can vote for MK in more than one category, but they do require you to nominate at least 3 separate blogs. I'm assuming they do that so there isn't a ballot stuffing bot-type thing happening in the voting, and since they have diverse categories, so that there'll be winners in each one.

awww. horses have personalities just like people... on days and off days. this was pretty funy.
Love you Michael K for always making me laugh everytime I come here.
You rock!!!!!!
Esteem, if you see this, what is this blog voting thing? I don't go to 3 blogs. Can you vote for MK 3 times? Thanks

Ok, this is a bit tmi but I pulled down my black yoga pants and there was skin flakes. Its like I'm turining into powder! Help!

"yes" on Makeup Alley Queen Helene mint clay mask and voting for MK
"no" on vaseline petroleum jelly. you'd do better using pure olive oil. agree w/T.R. and que cochina
@ GG: i go to Marshalls, Maxx, Ross etc and get nice lotions for cheap, often from clearance - i like H2O+ and Philosophy and Caldwell Massey. drugstore i use st. ives or palmer's cocoa butter brands

Hi TR, sorry had a call come in. How are you doing? I'm doing better. Did you get over your cold? I'm trying to keep track of all these cream recommendations. Loopy had some really great ones a while back as well. Do you really make your own products? There would be fewer toxins, that's for sure. I draw the line at eggs in my hair or face. *voms* ;)

Good old Noxema is still the treatment of choice for dry skin and the smell is still amazing.
Hey,WR! What's shakin'?
I never heard of non-petroleum jelly, but castor oil is a great ingredient. THe question would be, you know, what ELSE is in there? Check it out on the Cosmetics Database and see.

Hi Televised, how about the non-petroleum jelly? That's better, isn't it? Yum, a honey mask sounds so delicious. Or avocado. ;p
@Twatty, haven't seen Drive yet. If Chichi Hendricks is in it, it's definitely worth a look! lol
@CIJ, good luck, I can't seem to find where my confirmation went. Junk mail folder's empty. wth? :(

yes - avoid mineral oil and petroleum jelly!
AND i make a fabulous granola enema! just kidding.
HAHAHA! Yea, TR!!!
BamBam - if it worked for your mom, I won't argue, but the source of mineral oil and petroleum jelly is bad news - that's all. There are good alternatives now, but I do concede, they are pricier.

i check out everything i am going to use on my face/skin here: http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/
Cosmetics Database, VERY useful. remember, toxins and chemicals are absorbed by your skin.
i generally make skin care products myself. i make a great scrub with organic brown sugar and plum kernel oil. and I deep cleanse with a mask of honey and apple that's left over after making apple juice.

GG, it doesn't as far as I know. I always rub it in reaaally good just to make sure. If I applied it after a shower and before bed I wouldn't mind a heavier application. They have varieties but the best is just the plain ole vaseline "grease".
Somebody help me, my puppeh is just STARING and she won't stop. JFC, stop already.
ETA: Sorry que cochina, the stuff works. Bottom line.

Oh guys, I gotta override all of you - petroleum jelly is a no-no! It is basically the stuff on oil rigs, the sludge that forms on the agitating equipment. And it's bleached to make it more attractive, but it is black sludge, plain and simple! Mineral oil - same thing. Avoid those things! That's why I don't understand Creme de la Mer - three $ figures for a jar - and it's largely composed of mineral oil and the famous "marine broth" which is probably boiled sea monkeys or sumpin'. Lots of good alternatives these days. Okay...I'm bracing myself for the shade you all are gonna throw me!
I loved Half Nelson because it was the antithesis of all those schmaltzy, feel good, inspirational teacher movies. Blech!

Haven't seen Drive but ITA about RG--he's not conventionally handsome, his eyes are too close together, he looks like someone you might actually know, but damn, he's got SOMETHING that sets him apart from the crowd. Exhibit A: Half Nelson
Damn.
Thanks WR and others. I think I've figured out now what they want.
Speaking of Ryan Gosling, I watched him in "Drive" this weekend. What an amazing movie! I typically don't go for blonde guys much younger than me, but he is the exception. Plus my girl Christina Hendricks plays a bad-ass sexy bitch. But the movie is incredible, one if the best I've seen in years.

Do it CIJ! You just select the categories you think he'd fit in. Like entertainment, humorous, writing, secret, Lifetime, Weblog of the Year. In each one you select, put the name of the site and copy-paste the URL for Dlisted. They ask that you nominate three unique sites so I put two others in different categories.

Your grandma sounds like my kind of woman!
My doggie daycare people always remark that my puppy smells so good--it's from me petting/rubbing her belly with this QH lotion on my hands. lol
Dr Haushka (sp?) makes a great lip balm, and for drugstore moisturizers I really like the Cetaphil moisturizing cream in the tub-really works!
What happened to Whamo? Did he go on vacation?
Queen Helene is still around? My grandma used to use the hell out of that shit back in the day. She was a beauty, too. She used to dress up like Dita Von Teese every day. All hail the Queen!
Thank you Puppy Love! I'll check it out tomorrow.
Nite all. Hope you all sleep warm and safe. See you guys in the a.m.

GG, Queen Helene products can be found at Walgreens, CVS, and Sally's Beauty. If those places aren't convenient for you, try drugstore.com or any online beauty store.
QH has all kinds of lotions (mint, etc.) but their basic cocoa butter is the very best--it's so good I keep thinking the price is gonna go up, but it's only risen from $2.39 (!!) for a huge bottle to like $3.50 in ten years. Hubby will love it. :) Good luck!
LOL, WR. I am not that kind of girl! I dont care what you read on the bathroom wall!

Hi Twatty!!! That and soap too and it leaves the skin soft like you wouldn't believe! haha That Kiehl stuff sounds niiiice but it'd probably be a tad expensive with how much lip balm/jelly I go through in a week.
@Louise, Maybe it was because it was in the tiny little jar, I thought it had a more solid consistency. The bigger one must be softer then. I've been looking through the site. Holy products!

Got damn it's cold out tonight. Yayyyy! Now this is winter!
GG, try some Vaseline petroleum jelly. My mother is very light complected(?) and she swears by the stuff. She also uses other lotions but this is her go to moisturizer. A medical technician (female) complimented her once on her soft skin, a little weird but y'know, a testimonial is a testimonial.
You can get it now blended with cocoa butter. It's good stuff.

Puppy Love- I don't mind spending money on beauty products, but if I can get the same results from a $3 tub of Vaseline or a $2 tin of Nivea, I just can't justify spending the money on something more expensive. So many beauty products are just hype and a name.
**************************************************
Louise, I read once in Consumer Report (s?) that the *biggest* waste of money is expensive creams, lipsticks, and beauty products in general--and I've found that to be true. Give me Queen Helene Coco Butter Lotion, another one of my favorites ("For hands, body, AND face"--that always cracked me up but it's true!) at $3.50 for a HUGE bottle (not pretty-looking, but huge) any day over the overpriced department store stuff. It smells pretty, too--I get a lot compliments on it.
I just discovered "Makeup Alley" & recommend their product reviews and the site in general.
GG--I just saw your post. I have very dry skin and I swear by this Queen Helene stuff--it's an awesome moisturizer. Give it a try!
CIJ... You don't have to fill out every category. It does have to be from 2012.
I copied the address or URL from the top of the pages I wanted to nominate.
Just copied and pasted... In short: if I can vote... ;D
GG, he did such a great job of acting, as he usually does. But dude cant sing! lol. It looked so real when he was crying and kissing her goodbye. And I love that they would not show any of her private parts, even when Emily Blunt was peeking, as if she were a real woman. Haha!
edit: I meant Mortimer, not Blunt.

GG I use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula. I have extremely dry skin. I use the balm for 'ashy skin' on the elbows and heels and the regular lotion everywhere else, except neck and face which I turn over to Olay.

I voted VOB, nominated MK in Humour, Writing, Lifetime Achievement and Weblog of the Year. Hope he gets a nod too. ;-)

Hi everybody! Just got home from watching Lars and the Real Girl on Netflix. It's got Ryan Gosling in possibly the most unsexy part he's ever played, but it was really funny. The bf and I were laughing hysterically in parts. It's about this guy who's completely socially inept, and so he orders a sex doll off the internet whom he believes to be his girlfriend. Patricia Clarkson plays his doctor, who tells his family to play along because through the doll, he is becoming social. Our favorite parts were when they got into "fights" because she said she wouldn't marry him, and, well, I shouldn't give too much away. It was very clever, we thought. A CJ and BF thumbs up!
Puppy Love- I don't mind spending money on beauty products, but if I can get the same results from a $3 tub of Vaseline or a $2 tin of Nivea, I just can't justify spending the money on something more expensive. So many beauty products are just hype and a name.
WR- It's not liquidy at all. It's really creamy and a little goes a long way. I can't see using it on my face, though. Make Up Alley is a great site. That's where I found out about Too Faced BB cream (OMG amazing!) and Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peel Pads (so awesome, but expensive).
