Open Post: Hosted By Lil' Kim's Face
While looking as naturally as exquisite as always, Lil' Kim stepped out in West Hollywood on Friday night with the help of two man hands. Lil' Kim is as delicate as a terracotta pot so she needs the help of two strong dudes to make sure she doesn't take the wrong step, tumble to the ground and break into a million pieces. It'll take a lot of man hours and a lot of Super Glue to put her back together.
If you took the face of a ceramic Lucky Cat, pasted it on a Nicki Minaj Real Doll, filled it with the essence of Snooki and then sprayed it all down with the same lead-based paint that La Toya Jackson sprays herself down with, you'd get Lil' Kim. Absolutely stunning. She looks more like a cat than most cats do. Don't you just want to throw a ball of yarn at her?

Kimberly Jones look quite scary in these photos. She looked much better in her Junior Mafia days.

And the only thing worth watching at that mess last night was Prince!

@VOB: Yes it was great! I love being with him, too. He still talks about it. :)
Yo VOB, everyone! How's the crew tonight?

TR... THe Prince Half time Show was incredible. Chills incredible.. Because as you pointed out.. He sets his own standards.. And what a musician. His standards can never met.. We get the bliss while he works his way along to perfection.

You STILL have cassette tapes saved? DAMN!(You saving that shit to sell to collectors?)
Second....Ticketmaster IS EVIL because they allow mass purchases to happen then they and go and buy THOUSANDS of tickets that go to re-sellers. We were PISSED with our original tickets considering that scalping is now legal and that Ticketmaster allows people to purchase thousands of tickets at once and re-sell them for way more.
But yes ticketmaster will let you "upgrade" tickets in the same price point you have purchased but will only let you do so ONCE! (and we checked online EVERYDAY!)
We didn't pay scalper prices....we just got lucky to even snag tickets in the first place and then checked on ticketmaster EVERDAY after.
Ticketmaster is evil though.
@Glambert - JESUS tell me about it! Recently, instead of sitting and enjoying the experience, I found myself turning off applications so I can keep my battery fresh enough to record everything. I rarely go back and listen to it.
@Televised - I agree with you re: entertainer and musician. Both are artists in their own rights, and both are in the music business. But the people who "make" the music have special places in my heart. Not to say that dancing your ass and toes off and facing the stress of constant public ridicule compounded with a cramped schedule isn't hard work and doesn't take a toll on someone, of course.
Good night smart people.
❤ ♥ ❤
you know, if an artist paints their whole life, but only one period of their career is revolutionary
changes the game
becomes a standard by which others are measured
influences all who follow him or her
you don't really say that they weren't that great because ALL of their art wasn't up to the standards of the defining period.
i think musicians should have the same common sense standards applied to them.
after a, music is what Prince does. if it isn't all great by your definition anymore, he is going to still keep doing it.
Madonna was always an entertainer, not a musician. she will be judged by a whole 'nother set of standards than Prince - or at least, in a just scoring system, she would be :)

BTW The advent of digital cameras and cell phones has RUINED the concert going experience!
I found myself messing with my camera many times to get the perfect shots and videos so much that I felt like I missed out on much of the enjoyment!
But at the same time I felt like I NEEDED those personal videos and pictures I took! Just buying the tour DVD isn't the same because I didn't take the videos or pictures myself.
It's weird I know.
@glambert
I DO love Madonna. Her "Immaculate Collection" is one of the only cassettes I won't trash. I loved the art insert. I've never seen her live, though.
I had no idea that Ticketmaster had that arrangement re: the cancellations. (I saw that REDBOX would be selling event tickets, soon!)
Amazing that you got so close. I'd get one of those lanyards with my ticket and hold it out as I ran through the aisles à la Wayne's World.
My best concert seats ever (if you don't count Weird Al or local punk shows, of course) were five rows back when The Who played in L.A. right after Entwhistle died. (I'm not gonna tell you what I did to get those seats.)
(Okay, I will. I agreed to go with my dad.)
holy jesus. this makes me sad. it makes me wonder if she ever looks at a picture of what she looked like at the height of her career, then looks in the mirror, and has a panicky feeling as she realizes she could never go back to that, and that her face is fucked up. or maybe im just givng her too much credit and she thinks this shit is hot. i dont know. her face is just confusing.
and fuck football and fuck the half time show. it sucks every damn year. why wont there ever be one year where i'm like, shit, did you see the half time show last night? was that shit awesome or what? it'll never happen.

We we VERY CLOSE. (The people inside the triangle in front of us had tickets that can't even be purchased! They all won them from various promos.
We purchased the most expensive floor seats from ticketmaster and originally were like 50 feet farther back and way over to the side BUT.....
Ticketmaster always lets people upgrade ONCE if people cancel and better seats in the same price range become available! We checked EVERYDAY and finally had amazing luck about a month before the concert even though we booked 6 months before the concert.
We were amazingly close! Here is a picture that shows it better than the 2 videos I posted...
Here is a picture of Madonna performing 'Love Spent' (The Guy Ritchie golddigger song):

There was only 2 rows of people in front of us and security then the stage.
Yes - what desperation one must feel to want to wipe themselves from the world! The level of self-hatred necessary to mangle one's own self especially when it's that person's "self" that initially received such acclaim and attention.
It's tragic and becoming more common, right? Is it just me?
@ Bully....indeed, what does that say about a person's mental state to completely lose their outward appearance and identity?
@Glambert
I like many genres as well but I myself base it on the entire musical body of what an artist has created.

I get you about legends, and I'm a lover of music of all genres.
But I reserve special respect for anyone who can play more than one instrument, so I appreciate your assistance with expanding my definition of the word "musician."
And you're right; I haven't heard anything Prince has made lately.

---------------------------------------
I like many genres as well but I myself base it on the entire musical body of what an artist has created. Just because Prince plays more than 1 instrument and writes/produces all his songs on his on is worthy of tremendous respect but out of his 2000 or so songs that he has released the problem is only 1% of them are any good and all of them came from the first half of his career. (He doesn't even release any "so-so" songs anymore....they are ALL eardrum abortions!)
I have lived my entire life in the Twin Cities and Prince is highly respected here and I do respect him but I JUST CAN'T with the music from his last 20 years!
That being said Madonna made her first stop here since the mid 80's in November and my boyfriend and I saw her center floor and it was the best show we had ever seen! There is NOBODY who can put on a show like Madonna!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8eN7wToIDc
You can hear me screaming "OH MY GOD! OH MY FUCKING GOD!" between 0:25 - 0:40
That is when she first came down stage near me but this video I took is much more indicative of her concerts:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2hJn40C9OE
She puts on a show that Prince could never!
@Whamo -
Exactly. Completely unrecognizable. Personally, I remember her throwing attitude and her strong tough-girl lyrics in the videos.
The mangled and defeated face of this self-hating woman is such a contrast to the Lil Kim we knew.

So true blaze, if you didn't know who Lil Kim was and you took that 96 picture against this main picture here I don't think there is a single person that would tell you they are the same person, not a single person could see any resemblance at all.

She learned to play cello, bass, banjo, violin, mandolin, harp, accordion, clarinet, trumpet, and saxophone at professional levels by the time she was 15. She also sang and danced. After focusing on the trumpet, she quickly became so famous at the instrument that she was named "Little Louis" after Louis Armstrong, who used to call her the world's second best jazz trumpet player besides himself.

Mac Brown, head coach of the University of Texas (the richest college football program in the country)makes $5 millions a year, plus bonuses based on winning and bowl games. Some starting professors make about $16,000 a year to start.
________________________________________________
Wow, that's huge disparity in pay! Lol! No wonder these professors are so pissed off. Here you are shaping minds and you have a person working with some college kids that are reading at a grade 8 level.
This whole issure with concussions and brain damage I think is really going to change the focus in some of these smaller schools. The risk of class actions suits might just prove to be too much of a risk

But I reserve special respect for anyone who can play more than one instrument, so I appreciate your assistance with expanding my definition of the word "musician." I can churn out a pretty good tune, and so can many "Legends." They create a beat, and sometimes even a movement, that catches on a huge way. But when someone can manipulate different instruments, it's my opinion that the person has a deeper understanding of music. I don't play multiple instruments, but I've tried, and SUCK.
And you're right; I haven't heard anything Prince has made lately.

Lil Lim circa 1996 was pretty and sexy. I'm not saying she should look the exact same as she did 17 years ago but I mean, she should have strived to look vaguely humanoid. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SHVeyTBwTXE/T3eqzVSpvsI/AAAAAAAAFSk/YJThlwjL0n...

Yes. I love it when they put a REAL musician onstage. (One who can actually play more than one instrument as well as vocals.)
----------------------------------------------
Just so you know you are claiming many HUGE fucking legends are not real musicians.
I could name like 40 LEGENDS both past and present who can't do that! Are you really claiming people like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Bob Dylan, Whitney, Elton, Bruce, Celine, Gloria, and Mariah are not "REAL musicians"??? (I would also add Elvis to this immediate list off the top of my head but I don't know if he played more than one instrument or not)
BTW Prince was AMAZING from the late 70's to early 90's but have you ACTUALLY listened to the eardrum murder he has committed since then that he now claims is music? It is unlistenable!!
Lil Kim turned into a Filipino woman.
SFRB - yeah, Prince is in a league all his own, of course. I just think the bar is so low now because of "singers" like Beyonce. You don't have to do it all, but, shit - if SHE is the best we have to offer, what is the music industry *really* all about?
I vocal coach some high school kids, and one of them was crushed that BeyBey lip-synched the anthem - "oh, say it isn't so, she's my favorite singer!!" And I really had to bite my tongue, because this girl really IS talented, but she does so much imitation of people like Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson...JHud can sing, granted, but the worship and imitation...ugh, it's tricky to get around. At that age, it is what you do, and it is how you learn.
BUT they are learning art from pale xerox reproductions of the Masters.
i teach them what i can. :/

"That's an awfully high horse sir, may I pet him?"
Late to the party but just watched Beyonce's performance on youtube. I don't watch the Superbowl. There is only 2 times I have ever watched any of "the game" live and that was waiting a few minutes for half time to see Janet and Madonna perform.
I don't care about Beyonce nearly as much so I couldn't be bothered to give a shit to watch part of the actual game to see her live and I'm glad I didn't because I was very underwhelmed. She just brought the same type performance she always has! Beyonce is incapable of switching things up.(on a side note I'm still convinced this bitch was never preggers and her pillow baby's real mother is some Jay-Z groupee who was paid off)
Madonna was FAR BETTER. (and at least Janet brought the OMFG factor!)
BTW...I so knew the Ravens would win because Joan Rivers, George Kotsiopoulos, Kelly Osbourne, and Giuliana Rancic all predicted it would happen Friday on Fashion Police because they are better dressed team! LOL

Marvin Gaye is one of my all-time favorite stars and singers. Man, he could SING. And he had such an interesting and tragic life.
yeah, two people got shot, one fatally, at a big monthly art walk that happens in Oakland every First Friday.
no suspects, no witnesses - the police are just un-fucking-able to do their job here. of course, they are so corrupt that i don't think it's lack of money that is holding them back.
but there is always more money for the Raiders - or else they'll take their pretty asses to San Jose!

Our university no longer has a physics department, but we are about to get a brand-new $22 thousand dollar stadium. Many classes are taught by adjunct professors and Master's candidates, who do not get benefits. The coaches make six figures (for a team that not only loses money, but also loses games), but a full professor with a PhD, publications, and decades of experience makes five figures.
As that dude in TR's youtube link exclaimed, "Where are our priorities?!"
Meanwhile, all the dumb redneck flag-wavers are painting stupid red wolves (which in real life are extinct now in our area) on every blank area of town. Go Red Wolves! AAAAROOOOOOOOO! Howl yes!
