Don't Ever Flip Off Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat

It only took an "adios" and a middle finger for 18-year-old Penelope Soto to learn that Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat is not the one and he will screw with your life just because he can.

HuffPo says that Penelope Soto stood in front of Judge Jorge in a court room in Miami-Dade County on Monday after she was arrested on Sunday night for admitting that she was high on Xanax when she crashed her bike.  Penelope was charged with possessing several bars of Xanax (cut to me picturing delicious candy bars made with Xanax). It should've been a regular boring court hearing, but shit got serious when Penelope kept giggling and Judge Jorge wanted to let a trick know who holds the gavel.

Judge Jorge asked Penelope if she owns anything and she said she owns a lot of joorees. Judge Jorge wanted to know about how much her entire jewelry collection was worth and after Penelope kept giggling instead of answering his questions, she said, "Like Rick Ross."

Penelope is giving me serious Rhonda from Freeway vibes in that video and she looks like she's fucked up on E or meth or something, but maybe she was just nervous. Judge Jorge asked her if she was on drugs and she said no. Judge Jorge set her bond for $5,000 and waved her away. Penelope said "adios" and sashayed away. Wrong move. That "adios" sat a little too hard on Judge Jorge's last nerve. He summoned Penelope back and upped her bond to $10,000. Penelope's eyeballs nearly escaped out of her sockets as everyone in the court room gasped.

Penelope wanted to be the one throwing the last punch in that fight, so she flipped the judge off while walking away. Judge Jorge summoned her back and when she answered "yes" to the question "Did you say, fuck me?" he traded his gavel for a chancleta and slapped her ass down by sentencing her to 30 days in jail for contempt.

Game over.

My only question is where is the petition for Lindsay Lohan to stand in front of Judge Jorge, because I'm pretty sure that's a show we all want to see.

Not to mention, he never told her to stop giggling and being silly... he even chuckled at it once. Then he decided "adios," out of all the giggling she was doing, was the final straw? Maybe she is used to getting her way, but he seems to be riding the dick of power. Nothing about that sentencing was fair imo.

Andrei's picture

Um. No, she should not have flipped him off... but he increased her bond to 10k over the word "adios"? They're both lame.

I'll just say it, the judge was a dick. This was her first offense. Granted she was annoying but a case could be made that she wasn't being disrespectful as much as she was stupid and probably nervous. I imagine she often escapes blame for things by being cute - which it seems people in the courtroom, including the judge, were allowing her to be. It would be different it he told her to stop giggling and such but he didn't (he even seemed amused). By sending her to a stint of thirty days all he accomplished was spending tax payer money unnecessarily.

I'll add that if she was a repeat offender, I would judge his actions differently.

A couple of things: Bail is not suppose to be used as punishment, but rather to insure that the defendant return to court for their appearances. Knowing that fact, this judge was clearly on an ego trip when he raised her bail for displeasing him with her "Adios" and cavalier behavior. Having said that......
*******************************
I don't think the raised bail was punishment; rather, her cavalier behavior was proof enough that she did *not* take the situation seriously enough and that a higher bail amount was necessary to ensure her return to court.

M.E.'s picture

The $10,000 bond is for the possession charge, which she has to post bail for. IDK if it's the same in all states but in CA bail is 10% of the bond.

CokeyBloke's picture

I've seen some pretty disrespectful and ignorant things in courtrooms, and I fall squarely on the side of this tough guy.
Saw a guy trying to kill a restraining order and get partial custody of his son ("my kid" was as connected as he could muster) and he was tweaking so badly he rocked back and forth and spewed off incessantly, interrupting the judge, who was patient beyond words.
Finally he said, "Yes, I'm high right now, but she does crack!"
Judge did not even blink; sent them to family court.

The hell?

Does she still have to pay 10k? Maybe that judge did her a favor by sentencing

I was wondering that, too. There is no way she could make 10K in a month, so maybe he DID do her a favor. Plus, she won't have any access to xanax or any other drugs for a month.

That was a bit harsh. As someone else said, the judge was acting humorously with her and even said "bye-bye". This was the first time she had ever been in this position and she didn't know what to say, so she responded with "Adios". I'm really stumped as to why that pissed him off and made him call her back. Flipping the bird was wrong on her part, but I can see why she did it!

Fuck that little bitch. All playing with her hair and giggling like she was in the high school cafeteria. Like if she flirted with the judge he'd let her off.

Standing in front of a judge is a serious fucking thing. As she learned, they can do pretty much whatever they want. He could have sentenced her to worse. And he probably should have.

I bow to this hot papi.

Good for him.

This was a little harsh, but within his discretion. Harsh or not harsh, however, this stupid bitch deserves it. Someone has to teach these dumbasses that the judge is the ultimate authority in the court, and not to mess with him/her. Too bad this didn't happen with blowhan & her "fuck you" nailpolish...

Glmr - couldn't one argue that her cavalier attitude increases her risk of flight? If she can't respect a judge, why would she respect a court date?

She was arrested because she was high, so no wonder if she was still high in court.

The judge behaved "humorously" and —after her giggling and wathever— sent her away setting the bond at $5,000. End of story. -- End of story? No. She answers his bye bye with "Adiós" and he calls her back. And then he keeps escalating things.

Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat was obviously offended that little Penélope Soto reminded him of his Hispanic origin. --Adiós-- the new N-word?

Actually Xanax IS addictive. It's a schedule IV substance used for anxiety and panic. It can cause physical and psychological dependence. It's a useful drug but there are risks of withdrawal upon abrupt discontinuation, like seizures. And chances are homegirls is using more than just the Xanax.

It's not addictive. It can make some people psychologically addicted, but so can potato chips. You can build up a tolerance pretty quickly, and that's why you don't take it often.

Lindsay Lohan's get out of jail free status was not harmed during the making of this video.

Benzodiazepines (including Xanax) are most definitely addictive. Tolerance builds pretty quickly.

Ha-ha-heffa got what she had coming to her. That Miami judge has likely seen 10 hotter pieces than her strut into the court just that morning and took their consequence with nary a grin or giggle, and her thinking being "Jajaja, I so bonitaaaa, adios" got her off with just a 5 grand slap is what got her ass shut down financially with 10 grand. Flipping the bird was the icing on the cake.

I guess she thought if Lohan can do it then so can she.

Everything about this video is awesome except that what is almost certainly the absolute best part is missing.......her reaction to the 30-day jail sentence. I'd give all my fake-ass joorees to see that look on her snarky face.

I think there is some confusion about what Xanax is. You don't get "high" on Xanax, It isn't addictive, and it isn't a pain pill. There is no high to be had, sadly. it's an anti-anxiety drug that is given for periodic anxiety. At it's very most potent if you take a lot, it puts you to sleep. At normal doses, it just takes away your anxiety. It would not make you giggle. She was obviously stoned or something and decided to lie about taking the Xanax because she thought she wouldn't be in as much trouble.

Secondly, of course she deserved the time in jail. If you flip off the judge, you get punished. Refusing to deal with that and letting her just live without any consequences for her actions would have been irresponsible and negligent. When you're in court, you're on your best behavior. If she doesn't know that at her age, this is a wake-up call she desperately needed to do some growing up.

ps: just had some questions, is all. not making excuses for her. seeing her naive ass brag about her "Rick Ross" jewelry just made me sad for her. our kids get sold this stupid fucking lifestyle and destructive ways to numb their pain, and it's all such a trap.

the odds aren't good but i hope she gets it together.

Xanax = middle class bitches be popping that shit all the time, huh? prescription pills are really the new Black.

To those who don't think this deserves 30 days in jail...

Her attitude and lack of any perspective on the situation suggest her criminal resume will continue to add up with time. I wouldn't be surprised if shes popped out a few kids in the next 5 years. Maybe jail will be the wake up call she needs. The more you get away with stupid shit the more empowered you become by your own self serving ego to continue to make horrible decisions. The next time she's high on Xanax it could be behind the wheel of her car she supposedly has.

Does she still have to pay 10k? Maybe that judge did her a favor by sentencing

GOOD FOR HIM! He has earned his ego trip. I am so tired of these self entitled little c*nts that think that the world owes them something because they are so cute. Clearly her parents never taught her that her actions have consequences and that sometimes those consequences come in the form of strict discipline. Maybe after spending 30 days peeing in front of the other females and eating honey buns off of the commissary floor because you looked at the next chick sideways, she will learn some respect. Probably not, though.

Iamchristine, the sentence was for contempt of court, not for the Xanax.

Televised Revolution: I bow to your swift research skill, Goddess LaNegresse. So, the plot thickens. Why would a person riding a bike be ... arrested? Did she cause an accident? Did she "resist" when ... perhaps politely, perhaps not, was questioned by LEO? In my 'hood, which is suburban, but CONSERVATIVE, a bicycle accident, or even the "threat" of an accident by an irresponsible bicycle rider, would warrant arrest. Does that suck? Depends on your perspective. The ability to be honest, humble, decent, polite, during an "arrest" goes A Long Way toward Positive Resolution. But what is that? We live in a Police State. I do. But the "activists" keep trying for civil rights for all.

Twenty six Xanax without prescription is a problem. For me. And the Law. (But I'm fighting for not just medical marijuana, but marijuana for all, as I see it as less harmful than alcohol or Pharma. It's still seen by manhy LEO as evil, still, though times are a changin'.)

My vision of world peace: a chicken in every pot, and pot for all us chickens...and weasels.

iamchristinepow's picture

Whatever! A little Xanax does not equal 30 days in jail. That's insane- she's not the type of person we need to be paying to lock up.

RandéSleepover's picture

2mg also is a heady dose. The norm is 0.5mg, I think.

LaChaylo's picture

VOB, gurrrlll, I don't need to be going to jail now! I'd bury flush those things down to toilet so fast! Besides, no synthetic stuff here ;-)

On another note, this dumb ass supposedly owns a car along with her Rick Ross jewelry collection. Thank goodness it was only a bike and not a car she was operating. She's probably a druggie and mule with a hint of sociopathic tendencies. No sympathy, and I have my very good reasons.

mike's picture

I don't feel sorry for her, or think her sentence was outrageous, but the judge could have acted with a bit more decorum.

Maybe he wants his own daytime tv show.

amykins's picture

I just wish the video had played long enough to show her reaction to the 30 day sentence. If she thinks being in court is cute and has so little control of herself that she flips off a judge then please, send her to jail. We shape our behavior by the consequences we are given. I can only assume she has been able to do the 'I'm so cute and young and silly act' to get away with shit for far to long. Well, that ended that day. And hopefully she will learn from it. It ain't cute anymore sister. Rock on.

What a dumb little girl.

Orangina's picture

She probably thinks she can do whatever she wants because she thinks she'll be young and cute forever and her life will just turn on all honky dory no matter what she does. She's probably banking on getting cast in Bad Girls Club, and then going on to become the next Snooki (a brainless, brunette piece of gutter trash with her own reality show.) Or maybe she hopes to be a video hoe in a Rick Ross video.

When in reality, she now has a criminal record and won't be able to get a job or an apartment or really do anything in life. Great job, kid!

She crashed a bike and appeared high (hell - she seems like she is still high in that video). I have no idea about Florida laws but in some states operating a bicycle is a vehicle under the DUI statues possibly giving the cops a reason to search her.

People need to stop trying to make excuses for her - that's her whole problem to begin with.
