Open Post: Hosted By Tan Mom's Grand Return To XL
The last time Tan Mom made an appearance at XL in NYC, she attacked a drag queen, fell on the red carpet, cursed everyone out and got kicked off the stage. (So basically, she was you on any given Friday night.) XL loves a mess, so they invited Tan Mom back for an encore performance and she did more of the same, but this time she also flashed her pork rinds, delivered some sweet, sweet moves and served up some caveman glamour. (So basically, she was you on any given Saturday night.) Yes, I said "caveman glamour." If you look at these pictures after cooking your brains in a tanning bed for four days straight, she will look like Raquel Welch in One Million Years BC to you. Or in the very least, she'd look like Harpo Marx as Raquel Welch.
And I was going to say that this is Lindsay Lohan's future, but this is Lindsay Lohan now. Living the life!

VOB, I hope you come back around to read this...thank you for the kind words. The first time I I had to deal with this craziness I was in newly engaged. I knew not only would I not be able to have biological children with my new husband, but I was going to rack up bills, lose my hair...and then supposed to feel beautiful on my wedding day? I couldn't cry because if it did, it wouldn't stop. But I did cry and it did stop, and I felt so much better.
I sat in my bed crying the other day, and I asked him why I was going through this again. All he said was, "It's you and me kid, we're going to make it through this again.".
Go the Samantha Jones route on SATC and were wacky wigs. You've got my love and well-wishes.

I’m late as hell and I know everyone is gone, but, hello within, snow owl and vob and anyone else I missed!I am on meds for my gut and I am amazed at how quickly it has started working.
Not complaining about it though. The sooner the better, right? Also, I saw a few folks mentioning hummus the other night and I always wanted to try hummus, but never got around to being brave enough too, but I went to the grocery today and decided to get some hummus garden veggie style, and it was actually pretty delicious!Hope you all are well!

Fantastic. The Danish, poms, Canadians, aussies and Kiwis are so far ahead of the rest of the world on issues like this, it's embarassing for the US to be so far behind.

i buy a shea butter moisturizer from Trader Joe's, if you are looking for something for hands and body. i cannot abide dry skin, drives me nuts, so i have to have something in my purse at all times, same with lipstick or a really good tinted chapstick-type thing.

I think it's smart that you're considering doing Wills and living wills. Also think about Powers of Attorney for both property and health care. Because I had my surgery in a state other than my domicile, I did all of those at the hospital the night before surgery (they had the basic documents there & a notary public). It freaked my husband out but I knew the risks of surgery and wanted to be sure certain wishes were respected. In my line of work, I have seen the bad side of not preparing these documents.
I understand your concerns about the bills. There are times when I feel like I'm having an anxiety attack when I get a new bill or start thinking about all of the bills I haven't gotten from the hospital yet.
I just hope that I will win the lottery some day soon. Lol.

I'm about to go full book Nerd.. I have two uncorrected galleys from Bret Easton Ellis. They are so brilliant and wild.. It kills me to read his work after the editors glam and sparkle it up. Since he's hell, bent on making films .. He's gone a lot off road for my tastes these days..but I would love to read Rules or any if his early work unedited.

It used to be really hard to find certain books before the internet. Especially if, like me, you lived out in the sticks. Guilty pleasures of mine: The Anarchist Cookbook (I had to go hundreds of miles to St. Louis to get that one) and the George Hayduke revenge books (I never had any of those, but my friend did). Bad girl books!

I got rid of the 2 wigs I used to have: one was hot pink & short, the other was black & long. Would have kept them had I known I was going to be rocking a partially shaved head. Lol!
Maybe I should get a blonde one since I've never had blonde hair? I'm sure the hubby would like that!
I'm also thinking about having someone show me how to put on makeup. I'm terrible at it & I figure I need a little assistance since I have a scar on part of my forehead and my eyes look slightly wonky (it's only temporary). I'm hoping that this time in my life is one I can look back on in many, many years and say, "it wasn't pretty but I came out the other side a better person!" I definitely have my 'woe is me' moments and I cry. A lot. However, my neuro oncologist assured me that the crying is normal after major brain surgery & that it will begin to diminish. I constantly remind myself to suck it up because I'm lucky this was caught early, that my recovery is going well, and I have a good prognosis. Other people are dealing with much, much worse.
So what I'm trying to say is: I empathisize with you. I understand how frustrating and scary everything may be right now. And - I hope it all gets better for you! Please keep us updated on how things go.
JTROS, it's great to hear you had a good prognosis after all that. Sounds like you are on your way to healing up and getting active, good stuff. It's a slow process but you're right, one has to be thankful to be alive. Be well and keep exercising!

VOB, I'm ok.
Started back at work this week. Supposed to be 1/2 time but I've been doing 6 hour days. Can't move one side of my forehead & have a dent on that side where my plate is. My hair is a hot mess where they shaved half of it. But, I'm alive :). We got a good prognosis from my doctors when I went for my post-op appointment and my treatment plan is "watchful waiting". I hope to start running again next month, if I can get my headaches under control without drugs.
