If this were a targeted subject where I could pinpoint the exact information then I would supply links, but Obama is a Communist and hates this country, and not because this country treated him badly. What I know about Obama has been learned over a period of time. I didn't see the movie 2016 but people I know who did said they already knew everything in it, so I knew I did to. Some of what I know came from Glen Beck's show on Fox. He would always have a mountain of proof to back up whatever he was exposing. There's Andrew Breitbart's site, Beck's The Blaze, Carl Tuckerson's Daily Caller. Hell, just go to the Fox News website every once in awhile to get some news you won't find anywhere else, and I'm not even talking about anything earth-shattering. Just simple basic everyday journalism on subjects like the sequester mess, and these issues are reported on daily so you can actually see the evolution and unfolding of events. The rest of the media won't do that, and that is why Obama gets away with so much.

Yet Gray doesn't say where the total came from, but he did say that the $1.4billion was “total cost of the presidency”, not PERSONAL expenses as you maintain. Interestingly (isn't it always?) this paper shows that the cost of running the White House was actually $1,592,875,254. And oh yeah, that was for 2008, under Bush. Hmmmmm.

You obviously don't know much about what federal law states about White House parties and how they are paid for. Even if you did, you'd know that when entertaining at that level, ALL presidents' wives do it lavishly because that's how they are feted in other countries. So I'll educate you. Yes, the taxpayers do fund state dinners and such but any personal dinner parties, outtings, grocery bills, movies, are ALL charged back to the President's salary. The government pays his salary but his family's and their guests' expenses, which include dinner parties not deemed official, are expensed back to him in a bill he gets at the end of every month. Want a laugh? Google Nancy Reagan's reaction when she got the first bill after her first month in the WH. Her shock and outrage are classics. And please. Don't give me the "taxpayers pay his salary" crap. That's funded through Treasury.

Michelle Obama's work has been on tackling the obesity epidemic (yes, *epidemic*). It hasn't been simply about "healthy eating" or "telling people what to eat". The obesity epidemic is literally killing this country. Yeah, it's more traditional for a First Lady to focus on education or literacy or something like that...but nobody's going to read or get educated if there's no money for libraries and schools because huge amounts of cash are going to pay for the healthcare of tens of millions of people with severe health problems due to obesity.

This skit is actually a way in which MO *is* performing her duties...she's putting movement and exercise in a positive light...people will remember it, and maybe--just maybe--they'll get up and move more. Exercise isn't all about going to the gym or fitness videos...dancing, for example, is exercise.

It is Michelle's thesis that is being discussed here, and it wasn't written in legalese. It was apparently written in the language of Rev. "God Damn America!!!" Wright/Black Liberation Theology. You know, the language of their pastor of 20 years?

Tyroen - please give an example of a "culturally" biased exam. Would a culturally NON biased exam go something like "Pimp Poop had a stable of 10 hos. After he beats 1 to death, loses 2 to drug overdoses, and adds 1 12-year-old runaway, how many does he have?" Or should that have been written in the Eubonic language? I must say, it was one of Obama's greatest and most heroic moments when one of his first acts as our President was to slash the D.C. school voucher program so that all of those dumb-as-rocks unionized, Democrat-voting/Democrat-donating inner-city teachers could continue to teach NON biased culture! He did this in spite of the severe disappointment and bewilderment voiced by the private school faculties who saw how well the voucher kids responded to getting a good education, the severe despair of the parents who worked hard to pay for what the vouchers would not cover, and the severe downward spiral that the futures of these kids would take after they were sucked back into the abysmal cesspool of liberal principals and ideology. Our bravest President by far!

Uh, sorry, her thesis was not legal writing. It was written her senior year at Princeton. Michelle went to law school at Harvard.

You don't need a "trained legal mind" to read her paper.

That is silly. A law degree is an extremely useful thing to have whatever your aspirations, and it is very transferable to careers in other fields. Certainly it is better than some piece of shit "social sciences" degree.

Having a JD does not make you a lawyer. In most jurisdictions you have to pass the bar and being in good standing to have a license. There are CLE requirements to maintain your active status with the Bar. You can temporarily suspend, or retire from practice. Not a big deal. Anyone who complaining about someone not wanting to practice law has clearly never done so. I did for over a decade. It's boring as hell. And to all you young'uns who might be considering a law degree, don't. The market sucks.

This past election is the first one where I noticed that I had no idea what either candidate was going to do if elected because they were too busy snarking on each other. I know a guy who said trying to decide who to vote for is like trying to decide which STD he'd want to pick up after a night of heavy drinking. The lesser of two evils.

You're in a muddle with this part:

You're right that voluntarily requesting that your law licence be inactivated is something you do if you don't anticipate practicing law for a while. It makes no sense to keep paying steep annual fees for liability insurance, bar fees etc; (just those fees alone run into thousands of dollars annually). There's nothing sinister about inactivating your licence and reactivating it is not generally a complicated thing. It makes sense to inactivate it if you're not practicing for some reason.

However, voluntarily inactivating your licence to practice is not the same as 'losing' your licence. Losing your licence means the Bar Association takes it from you as a disciplinary measure. Sometimes a lawyer is suspended from practice for a period of time and then will be allowed to resume practising. In more serious cases, they are disbarred and they lose their licence to practice law.

Michelle Obama did not 'lose' her licence to practice law and neither did she 'surrender' it.

The Bar Record states that she is 'voluntarily inactive.' She is still a lawyer -- albeit a non-practising one. If the Bar Association of Illinois disbars her and takes away her licence, which they haven't done, then she would no longer be permitted to practice law and would not be able describe herself as a lawyer.
