Hugo Chavez Is Dead
Hugo Chavez died of cancer at the age of 58 in Venezuela and that's your cue to stick a pair of plugs in your ears, because Sean Penn is going to throw a black lace mourning veil over his face and wail as he throws himself on top of the coffin. Mayo, I yes. I definitely didn't believe that he could have been elected in a fair manner! And if there were other candidates that obviously means that he hadn't made himself the permanent leader sorry about that mistake, but I may have gotten mixed up with the Argentine prez who wants to do that, or he may have just talked about it and I figured he got his way.

Admittedly, I don't know the degree in which he has screwed Venezuela up but I do know that he had appointed himself to be prez for the rest of his life and that the citizens there would treat him like he was a god. It's so horrible to see what has happened there. When he was elected this fall, I couldn't believe what I was watching. Instead of protests and anger, people were excited and chanting his name etc. I could think of nothing else but to SMH.

Oh honey, October 7th was one of the worst days for Venezuela, his victory wasn't clean, it was a fraud, he cheated! Everyone was crying and his victory was welcomed here with silence, yes in different parts of Caracas there were people celebrating but in the rest of the country no one was. My family, my friends, everyone I knew was pretty sad that day, I even cried myself to sleep. I wanted Henrique Capriles to win so badly, he's a great man.

Once you have a regime set up like that people are basically forced to constantly show their undying love for their "leader" or face certain kinds of governmental wrath and penalties. While I do believe that many people have been helped by Chaves and did actually like him, I can guarantee there are just as many who probably can't stand him but have been afraid to say anything about it.
I have been to a communist country and it's crazy how the people who live there will go into complete historonics over their leaders. When they have rallies and events, if you don't show up you will get a visit from someone at your house asking you what happened.
Most of the press we get on Chavez is pretty biased so we have to take most of it, for better or worse, with a grain of salt. Perhaps sometime in the future we will get more of the real story.
I also heard the vice president is saying he was killed and it was a big conspiracy, I'm not sure who he's blaming yet but I'm pretty sure the US will be involved somehow.

pfk, yes I live in Venezuela, right know there aren't a lot of internet restrictions here, it's not as bad as China here, well, at least not right now. A lot of tv channels are run by the goverment, so they're portraying Chavez as a god, which is HORRIBLE.
