Who cares if she's not 55! Have you guys SEEN her skin in recent photos? I would thank the gods if my skin looked like that at 60, or however old she is, regardless of whatever shit I had to go through to make it happen.

A Pink Floyd discussion and I had to WORK? Fuck!!!
Now I get home and prolly everyone's in bed, FML.
In the spirit of camraderie and sharing:

One of the last times I tripped (it's gotta be 4 years ago), me and my best straight buddy were sitting on the floor, listening to the radio and waiting for the shrooms to kick in. Nothing was happening and for some reason the radio went silent (someone in the studio must have fallen asleep).
Probably 1 or 2 minutes of silence but it felt like forever, and I started to get mildly anxious.

Then the clanging cacophony that begins Time sounded loudly
and we just LOOKED at other, and our eyes got wider and wider and wider.
We ended up sitting back to back, like two puppies protecting each other.

Maybe you had to be there but it was beautiful. (I suspect Deb knows where I'm coming from...)

Here is the legendary synch-up Dark Side of OZ. If you're high (or not), it's truly amazing.

Ya Foxxy, big parts were totally pre recorded and not just that but straight off the album prerecorded. At one point I looked at my buddy and said " Is he even playing?". He goes "I was going to ask you but I didn't want to sound out of it" no shit. Lol
We were bummed because we'd really been psyched for weeks. We ended up seeing that wicked Who concert a few months later so it made up for it.

GlitterKitty's picture

Whamo I really wasn't trying to catch you out! I went to a what I thought was a Smiths concert and said to my friends that Marr was amazing. That was five yrs after they had split and I was high that festival. It was Moz solo. So.. no worries.

You're right Glitter( I know you knew you were right:) I saw both the 87 and 94 PF shows at the CNE and the 87 show was the first tour without Waters, my mistake.

I saw a previous version of Water's The Wall tour and the first one a saw was way better.

That original big extravaganza treatment Waters did on it in Germany was amazing. Some people sang better than others but as a concert it would have been one hell of a good one.

@ Foxxy.....I saw Waters latest version of The Wall tour about a year ago and I hate to say it but it was one of the worst concerts I'd been too. The Wall was already built and you saw very very little of a live band playing, huge chunks were pre recorded and it was like watching a video. He relied too much on the visual clips and he took the WW2 aspect out and replaced it with more modern warfair clips which took something away from it IMO

interesting difference of opinions. i'm trying to recall some of the specific descriptions i heard last year, but i do recall someone telling me they thought Waters' band sounded almost like the original. and there was something about audience participation making it really cool to whomever was telling me but i do not recall what the audience had to do. was their audience participation at your show?

i suppose Morrissey's dad [hahahahahaa to whomever wrote that below] wanted it to be very clear that in 2012 he intended to change and distinguish from the original. i speculate 70% artistic vision 30% for some type of grudge related reason(s) lol

He tried that when PF were still together and it didn't work. Sigh he never learns does he. People do not want to pay to stare at a wall.

Whamo I agree (although the Wall for me is all about Comfortably Numb) but he wrote most of the earlier albums as well hence I mean he was the lyricist they could not do without ( as proven on the albums after Waters three his base guitar out of the pram). As for his voice.. aahh I saw him live and his voice sounded too weak. Maybe that is what influenced my opinion. You DID see PF in the late eighties with the other three but not Waters as he was busy sueing them and making their lives hell. Read a good book on that once. Insane story. But yeah as for the music... great. Although I can really recommend the Barrett stuff too. I love the whole quirky English sound.. Arnold Layne is a good place to start.

Haha Whamo. I am saying the opposite of what you did but if you saw Gilmour and Waters together it has to be a looong time ago
-----------------------------------------------
Ya I guess you're right, I thought they were together when I saw them though because I remember tunes off The Wall. I know the one time I saw them Waters was gone but this was at the CNE in Toronto back in late 80s? I'll have to look that up. Lol. I was a baked out 20 something so I definitely could be wrong on that one lol!

Foxxy Brown's picture

@ Whamo - Waters did "The Wall" at the SF Giants' stadium last year. still pissed at myself for not going - every true for real PF i know who went said it was the best across the board - music, vocal, special fx -- rock show they have ever attended. not just PF music performance. best show

but subsequent albums proved you need Waters to write the songs and Gilmour to play them. They are not as good without one another. Gilmour lacks the writing skills and Waters the voice and musical ability
_______________________________________________
I do think they were better as a group but I don't think Water's voice and music ability was lacking at all. JMO anyway, I say that because The Wall was basically a Waters solo album to a certain extent as the concept was his and he wrote nearly the whole thing himself as well as had the largest hand in producing it.

When push come to shove though they were by far the best as a group.

GlitterKitty's picture

Haha Whamo. I am saying the opposite of what you did but if you saw Gilmour and Waters together it has to be a looong time ago as they only reunited for Live8 in 2005. After a long hiatus. I just don't see it happening now. But I will totally sound like an old now but a lot of musicians will do well to study them as they were indeed perfectionists. The only band I saw live a lot that comes close these days is Radiohead who draw influence from them. Great studio albums absolutely tight as hell live. Meddle is great btw. Fearless is my favourite and not even a Liverpool FC fan ( I am a girl so not that fussed about football anyway).

Whamo's picture

@ Foxxy....I was fortunate enough to see them in them a couple of time with both Gilmore and Waters. PF is the type if band that can get away with not being embarrassed as an "let's bring out the old guys and try to create their former glory" type band because their music was cerebral as opposed to youth oriented angst driven music. I never did see the real giant pig though, sure wish I had.

As I mentioned I listened to Meddle Friday afternoon front to back and was reminded just how brilliant it really was. Those guys were creative geniuses with what was then new technology. If you watch the Documentary on the recording of DSOTM you realize just how into perfection these guys were.

Btw as for getting back together.. No chance. Not now Wright is dead. It was a one off for Gilmour at Live Aid and I think that is how it should stay. For me anyway. I would be gutted if they did and it felt like one of those desperate reunion tours

After they split up in the eighties, Waters was indeed an even bigger cock than before (court case over an inflatable pig anyone?) but subsequent albums proved you need Waters to write the songs and Gilmour to play them. They are not as good without one another. Gilmour lacks the writing skills and Waters the voice and musical ability (Gilmour played a lot of base on the old albums). I got to see Wright play with Gilmour a year before he died. He deserves a mention too as Waters nearly drove him insane.. He will always be a grumpy old sod. I suspect he is Morrissey's secret father.

Last night I was watching 20/20 about the best TV shows or some shit and Jon Hamm said that even at 25 he was getting cast as the older brother or the father of people close to his age.

Rumor has it that he's a big ol' drunk. While that makes it easy for me to ply my charms against him (in my mind and by charms I mean boobs), it ages you horribly.

Nice legs, Ms. Stone.

Dog's picture

True life:

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town, waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
But you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then the one day you find ten years have got behind you; no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking; and racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older.
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again.
I like to be here when I can.
When I come home cold and tired, it's good to warm my bones beside the fire.
Far away, across the field, tolling on the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees.
And hear the softly spoken magic spell.
