I agree that kids have to be taught boundaries, and I agree that this girl should have some common sense. That said, there is no question that girls get mixed messages. There are a lot of different ways that young women get told that they are not as valuable unless they are hot/thin/big-tittied sex goddesses. Then they try to become hot/thin/big tittied sex goddesses, and some other segment of society calls them superficial whores.

I am NOT saying she should not know better. I am saying that there is a pretty big reward for girls who put a ton of effort into being hot, but we punish them for taking it too far by calling them sluts. Where's the line (clearly somewhere before we get to pillowcase dresses)? Bottom line: If we want girls to stop being whores, we should take it up with the segment of society that idolizes and rewards skanky, superficial women.

Dress code or no dress code, what kind of moron would consider this to fall under the category of "Formal wear"? Other kids have spent a lot of time and money to make this a formal affair and Skankzilla thinks she can show up wearing this and drag the whole gala into the ranks of a WWF Smackdown.

Even as an adult, if I'm at the symphony/opera/theater and I've taken the time to dress appropriately, it royally chafes me to look around and see people wearing jeans and t-shirts.

I agree with the school too. That being said, what kind of G.D. MOTHER lets her 17 year-old daughter go to her prom in something like that anyway, much less without panties on?

Let her look and talk like a ghetto superstar and she'll deal with the damage to her reputation and the other kids laughing behind her back. in the news report, there is a photo of this gal with her friend in the hotel lobby before entering the dance, her friend was dressed appropriately!
