It is a Keffiya and yes it's a scarf BUT it doesn't stand for murder and terror. They usually come in red and white or black and white. If they come in any other colors I've never seen them. Yes they them at Urban Outfitters but most of the people who buy them have no idea what part of the world they're from. People have been wearing them in the states for a while but usually activist,artist, anarchist types not corn-bag Rachel Ray types.

Those scarves have been around forever. My bf in hs had one. She was from Europe and we called it the "Euro scarf." In every big city in Europe these scarves run rampant. Also, there's loads of them in NY-esp. in the Village and esp. among the gay, male hipster crowd.

What a joke. I love MK to bits, don't know if he's being sarcastic here or not. The kuffieh (black and white for Palestinians, red and white for Jordanians and the Arab Gulf), are just scarfs for traditional dress, and different prints pertain to certain areas. Saying it has anything to do with politics is absurd. Just another reason most Americans get a hold of anything slightly Arab and immediately begin racially profiling. What a fucking sad place this world has become. Do you see people hating on Scottish kilts? Or on the Japanese kimono?
Seriously. Grow the eff up, and be a little more worldly and aware of whats going on around you.

Very true. My mother is Arab and I've lived in the Middle East myself, so I know what you are saying is true. That said, I think MK is being sarcastic.

You are sadly misinformed. I am an American living in the Middle East and men wear Kaffiyehs as functional, everyday wear traditionally meant to protect against sun, sand, and wind exposure.

Now, I would still qualify Rachel Ray as an idiot, as I do any FEMALE who wears one as a fashion SCARF. But that's a whole other topic of discussion.

I happened to work at a coldstone a while back (it's an ice cream place for those not in the know)... and a large peanutbutter and chocolate milkshake will set you back 1800 calories. Let me say that again, in case you think it was a typo. 1800 CALORIES. And some people would get that with a large ice cream to boot! And if you think I'm exaggerating, go to the website and check out the nutritional facts.
