So Long, Harvey Korman
I was busy getting drunk in a bar when I read that Harvey Korman died. At first, I thought it was Harvey Keitel and I wanted to slap a bitch for no reason. Actually, that's a good idea. Tomorrow, I'm just going to walk up to some stranger, slap them and say, "This is for Harvey Korman!"
Anyway, Harvey died today at the age of 81. Harv passed away at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago.
One of his daughters told CNN, "It was a miracle in itself that he survived the incident at all. Everyone in the hospital referred to him as 'miracle man' because of his strong will and ability to bounce right back after several major operations. Tragically, after such a hard-fought battle, he passed away."
In case you don't know, Harv is best known for "The Carol Burnett Show, " " and "Blazing Saddles"The Flinstones in Viva Rock Vegas." Ok, he's not best known for the last one, but I love that piece of trash movie.
Seriously, all the good have been going lately! If Charlotte Rae is next, I swear I'll jump out the window.
Harvey Korman forever! May he rest in peace.
There's too many awesome Korman clips to post, but here's one of him with Tim Conway:

RIP funny man.
RIP Hedley, you were one funny dude! The skits you pulled off with Tim Conway and Carol was without a doubt some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen on TV. You did your job well Hedley, keep them laughing!
I watched the The Carol Burnett as a child. That was some real comedy, without vulgarity. Back when a whole family could watch television together. My grandma would be in stitches watching that show. Thanks for all the laughs, Mr. Korman. May you rest in peace.

Harvey ~ have Fair Winds and Following Seas.
He was great in "Blazing Saddles".
RIP, Harvey!
Your attempts to not laugh made you the funniest!
Timeless classic comedy!
Okay, here's one from "High Anxiety", Korman comes into the scene in a few seconds, he's Doctor Montague. Cloris Leachman as Nurse Diesel spanks him...LOL then watch him in that next scene, tormenting the mental patient!!! LOL!!
After this I have to go, peeps....work to do, wish I could hang out here all day.
Go about 1:20 into the video to cut to Nurse Diesel and Korman. Then keep watching after the Nurse Diesel segment.

OMG! I was laughing so hard that I'm crying.
I like how Tim Conway's character in that skit is based on Warren Beatty in Shampoo.
Do you remember how we used to roll our eyes at our parents when they took those frequent walks down memory lane and we thought they were just so old and crazy?
Well, we are them now! They said it would happen to us too, but we didn't believe it.

I can't find it either, but I do know from looking around his obituaries that the character's name was Mother Marcus.
A quote:
"Mother Marcus, which he played in drag, “was a Yiddish grandmother based on his own real-life grandmother,” she said."

I can't believe there aren't any clips or pics around.

Let's not forget his performance in "High Anxiety", too, which is another favorite film of mine.
Harvey and Cloris Leachman as Nurse Diesel were great together! "Fruit cup is served at 8 o'clock sharp!"
"This ain't rock n roll. This is genocide!"
Loved him--RIP funny man.
Harvey Korman was one of the finest comedic actors ever. I grew up laughing at him on the Carol Burnett Show. He was perfect as Hedly Lamarr in "Blazing Saddles". He was also great in "High Anxiety". RIP, Harvey. Thanks for all the laughs.

OMG! That's right. I'm on a mission to find a clip of that! Isn't that from the skits that ended up being spun off as Mama's Family?"
Might have been....I never watched that show as much, so can't remember, but could be...?
I can't find a clip of him as that character on You Tube! Dammmit! I just spent half an hour looking, too. That was hilarious.

Let's not forget his performance in "High Anxiety", too, which is another favorite film of mine. He was awesome. And when he started to say "werewolf" and then it ended up in a howl in mid-sentence.... "A were-WOOOOOOOOOLF". LOL LOL LOL

I'm so glad we had this time together Mr. Korman. RIP

I guess this is the time we have to say so long, Harvey!
He was an incomparable comic actor: Hedley Lamarr in Blazing Saddles, anything at all on Carol Burnett. He was a terrific Ronald Coleman in Rancid Harvest: picking up a banana, putting it to his ear, saying hello into it, then shaking his head realizing his mistake, then turning the banana around, putting it up to his ear and saying hello again.
Classic. The world will miss you Harvey and thanks for all the laughs!

I was trying to find a You Tube clip of Harvey Korman from the CB Show, where he would dress up as the Jewish mother or whatever it was...HILARIOUS! The dentist sketch is better known but big tall Korman in drag with those floppy boobs and the accent was great too!
I'll have to watch my copy of The Best Of The Carol Burnett Show again this weekend....I know I have it on there.

Oh, man, that is sad! May he rest in peace.
Where is brent? He used to use Harvey as his avatar. Any old-timers still around?
I actually cried over this death. Oh man, I grew up laughing at this man and in most cases with him, loved the Carol Burnett show, the Mel Brooks movies.
Thanks Harvey for making me laugh, and helping me escape from the bullshit.
I'll be 50 in August so am of the age to have been around to see the show when it was originally aired, I used to watch it EVERY time it was on, when I was a kid. I'd hear the theme song start up and would run to the TV.
And back then there was no cable etc, we got I think 4 channels on the TV. You had to get up to change the channels too (gets out cane, LOL), back in The Old Days. LOL no remotes.
Here's another classic...the second part of the 'Went With The Wind' sketch, with Harvey Korman doing his amazing parody-impression of Clark Gable, and Carol Burnett wearing the drapes, complete with rods sticking out.

There's a lot of pretty, pretty ones
That want to get you high
But all the pretty, pretty ones
Will leave you low and blow your mind
We're all stars now in the dope show
I must echo everyone else in saying that the best part of the Carol show was watching Harvey crack up.
I'm sure this will crush Tim Conway, as far as people who aren't family of Korman being devastated....those two were SUCH close friends and no I don't mean in a gay way! Please, no jokes. And Conway was one of the only people who could make Harvey Korman crack up during a sketch on the Carol Burnett Show. I watched that show as a kid, and in the skits with those two, I was just WAITING to see how long it would take Tim Conway to make Harvey Korman laugh. The clip above is one of the best.
SADNESS!!! Dammit. I have The Best Of The Carol Burnett Show on tape, I guess it's time to watch it again, in memorium.
Last time I saw Harvey Korman on TV he did look like he was going down, health-wise...awwww. Rest In Peace, you icon of comedy. You will be sorely missed!!!!

Rest in Peace, Hedley.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I'm sort of shy, and I'm not much of a talker, but if you poke me I'll probably rustle up a sentence or two.
RIP Harvey. I loved him. I loved that he could never keep a straight face during a skit. He was hilarious.
That Bali Bale sight was cool. I don't usually look at posted link sights here but I love Bali. Can I buy just the whole island and ocean setting there for my room here? lol
True sadness :( May he rest in peace. MK is right, too many good ones are passing these days. Thanks for posting the clip, MK. It made me laugh through the tears. The Carol Burnett show were some of the best nights in our house growing up and I still quote Blazing Saddles quite often, won't be the same I'm afraid.
Echoing the sentiments of other posters here of similar age. Blazing Saddles, History of the World and Carol Burnett show were faves of mine.
RIP, Harvey. Thanks.

You know that, I can't so much as drink a damn glass of water around a midget or a piece of antique furniture.
This one is tough for me. Being the age I am (almost 45), the Carol Burnett show and Blazing Saddles were the highlights of entertainment when I was young. I am just a huge, huge fan of Harvey and I didn't find out about this until this morning and I couldn't help but cry. This man made me laugh more than any other person during my difficult childhood. Thanks Harvey and R.I.P.

It's a real shame to hear he's gone :(
