Bardot Convicted
73-year-old Brigitte Bardot was convicted by a Paris jury this morning of provoking discrimination and racial hatred for writing that Muslims are destroying France in a letter to Nicolas Sarkozy. She was fined around $23,000 and has to pay $1,555 in damages to a French anti-racism group.
The judge rejected the prosecution's request to have Brigitte's elderly ass thrown in jail for 2-months. This is her fifth race-related conviction in the past 11 years.
Brigitte, an animal activist, wrote the letter in December 2006, because she was pissed off over the Muslim feast of Aid el-Kebir, which is celebrated by slaughtering sheep. She wrote, "I've had enough of being led by the nose by this population that is destroying us, destroying our country by imposing its acts."
Her lawyer said that she will most likely not appeal because she's tired of this court shit.He said, "She has the impression that people want to silence her. She will not be silenced in her defense of animal rights."
She fucking looks spent. She needs take a load off, rest in a Calgon bath and treat herself to a bottle of Boone's Farm.

I'm a longtime lurker, but I had to post, finally. I judge people by how they treat living beings that they have power over. I hate anyone who is unthinkingly cruel, whether it's toward other humans, animals, or, yes, plants.
We have to kill things in order to eat. I'm not anti-meat eating. I AM against torturing animals for the purpose of stuffing one's face. The way the muslims are slaughtering the sheep seems fine. They're treating the animals with respect and making sure they don't suffer too much. If that's the case, that's better than most slaughterhouses in the US.

Every religion has its fundamentalists. There are plenty of Muslims who dont commit acts of genocide or kill millions of BLACK people. That's plenty much like saying all white christians are bad people because they had slaves. Im just pointing out the flaws in your argument.
If you wanted to make a valid point, you should say something along the lines of SOME Muslims are extremist and totally misrepresent what the Koran is about. You can't just make blanket statements and expect no one to be offended. You can't lump a bunch of people in one extremist group. That's completely ignorant. You also have to remember that just like christianity, they are quite a few branches of Islamic faith.
Also, calling something "ass-backward" does connotate a lack of respect for something.

*Free speech* is a myth. There are things you simply cannot say publicly, or promote publicly - according to the law anyway. Different countries have different laws but in countries like Canada or the US for the most part there are lots of *opinions* you cannot express publicly, if they promote hatred and /or violence against a group based on their race. I don't care if they kill animals if they are going to eat them. I find extremists creepy because most don't even have the same respect for their fellow humans, but act all high and mighty to protect a damn dog. Kindness starts at home and with your own species. Let's see...if I remember correctly, in my hometown, there was anarchy, fire, and looting right after the Rodney King verdict (hell, and any time the Lakers lose). There was mayhem after Katrina. In the 60's, I'm sure there were riots during the civil rights movement, anti-Vietnam, etc.
