Brit Brit Is Always To Blame
This is a sad, sad story. Pour yourself a cup of Cream of Rice and grab a hankie. 85-year-old Ed McMahon's Beverly Hills home is about to go into foreclosure. Pepaw in distress!
Ed is $644,000 behind on payments on $4.8 million in mortgage loans. A default notice was filed on February 28th reports the Associated Press.
Ed's spokesbitch said he hasn't been able to get work since breaking his neck 18 months ago. He said that they are currently in negotiations with the mortgage company, but it's not clear whether or not Ed and his wifey get to stay in their home.
The home has been on the market for two years at $6.25 million. The 6-bedroom home is located in the gated community of The Summit. This is where Brit Brit's greasy ass lives and Ed's realtor said this has created problems. He said, "When we were trying to sell the house one time, there were about 100 paparazzi there." Tell the Cheeto One to move her ass out of there! Matthew McConaughey lives in a fine trailer park in Malibu. Brit Brit would fit right in there.
Has Ed entered the American Family Publishers sweepstakes? He may have already won $10 million!
Seriously, how can we help Ed? Pepaw Bake-A-Thon? Pepaw sex tape? We must save Ed's house!
Thanks Nancy

Pathetic. The guy had more money than everyone here combined will ever have--200 million. Five years a person needed 500K to retire, now it's 1 million. the economy is gonna rock hard in the next 20 years or so. Science needs to stop extending lives to 100--if Ed can't afford to live, how's the average Joe supposed to?
I blame Bush, not Britney.

I don't get this. As many have already commented this is someone who has had a long profitable well paying career. An 85 year old should not be screwed because he hasn't been able to work in 18 months. What did he do with his money? This isn't MC Hammer or Vanilla Ice, guys who got rich quick and had ghetto mentalities. This is an elderly educated mature man who has worked all his life. There must be more to this story than what has been printed.

I will admit that MC Hammer did spend his money on a lot of nonsense, but he did hire over one hundred people from his own neighborhood to do various jobs. He gave back to his community and that says a lot. As for Ice Ice baby, who in the hell knows what he did with his fortune. Hopefully someone will help Ed out of this situation.

I did not know he broke his neck. Did it leave him paralyzed?

Ademdum: btw, he received 7 Million Dollars in his Mold lawsuit, more than he is now asking buyers to pay for it...where'd that money go?
Maybe to fix the mold problem?

Hahaha! Manimal5 with the hiyooo! Broght back some lovely old SNL flashbacks! Um, seems to me if he'd stop being greedy, and drop the price about 1.5 mil he could get out of it. Simple subtraction. But I agree that there is more to the story. I'm suprised the mortgage company isn't going after the settlement he won. Seems to me if he had invested the winnings, the interest alone could have paid off the back payments. But, I'm talking out my ass. I'm a nurse, not an accountant.

I don't have anthing cool or witty to say here, so I'll just shut up.
Where did 7 million go? Medical bills for breaking his neck maybe? Upkeep on his house, paying his bills, alimony? The man is like 80 years old, its not like he blew it all on blow and being a 'baller' - give him a break.

nice fake chompers there Ed. did you borrow those from Mr. Ed? hee-haw, hee-haw.
I read that immediately after he purchased this h ome, it was found to have a serious MOLD problem for which he successfully sued. He tried to sell the house after that, and hasn't been able to, no wonder. MOLD can kill you , Britney can't
Let's see, he married his third wife when she was in her thirties and he was in his sixties. It's not like she pissed through his cash, right?
I am his big fan. I saw his personals ID on wealthy men for beautiful women site """"W e a l t h yR o m a n c e.c o m"""""" last week. What is he looking for on that site? just curious!

Oh god. Priceless. I forgot about that mess.
It's sad when any senior citizen is in distress like this but I'm with Eyeroll and Dr. Funk- he had luxury most people will never have. And fine. not taking that away from him he did earn it(even though his years long gig of simply sitting next to Carson and guffawing on cue must have been tough haha) but.
There comes a time when the money stops coming in (due to age/not getting work or whatever) and he needs to dial it back a little. LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS goddamnit. Thing is it's not like this sort of thin (foreclosure) sneaks up on your ass, you get warnings. He saw it coming. A lot of people who are accustomed to a certain lifestyle have a hard time letting it go. Also- it's the whole keeping up appearances bullshit. The man made enough money to be set for life; how he chose to spend it was his decision. That said, he'll not be homeless after all is over here. He'll just have to move out of Beverly Hills. I know, the horror.
He'll be fine.
I see seniors working as greeters at shitty superstores and with piles of coupons. Now THAT makes me sad. Ed's situation is a far cry from that.

wow. i guess you bitches only have a heart when you choose. it's funny, yesterday it was, poor bo diddley had to work till he died. poor bo.
today, fuck ed. he should not have had so many wives. he should have saved his money.
you cold hearted hypocrites.

This douche had a career as a second banana and a shill.
Bo Diddley is a fuckin' legend. He was a key figure in the transition from blues to rock and roll.
The Bo Diddley beat has been used by many other artists, including Elvis Presley; Bruce Springsteen; U2; The Smiths; Elton John; David Bowie; The Pretenders; The Police; Jefferson Airplane; The White Stripes; The Byrds and The Stooges. The Who's "Magic Bus" also is based upon the distinctive "Bo Diddley Beat."
Somebody send Robert Wagner over with that Video Tape about Reverse Mortgages. Hahhahahahahahhahha

So WHO in God's name gave an 80 year old a 30 year mortage? He should be in his Gerry Chair tooling up and down the beach.
"If Drinks Aren't Involved, Then Neither Am I."
Well if he was in danger of foreclosure, then why didn't he drastically reduce the price from 6.25 mil. to get rid of it. He opted to foreclose instead, hmm...
I have the perfect idea to save Ed's house: Whore cookies. Think Girl Scout cookies, only instead of cute little bitches walking around in their uniforms and selling their own brand of shit, it's hoes walking around in lucite heels selling stolen boxes of Keeblers'.

Geez, Banana shut your friggin' gob, okay?
The guy's 85 and he can't afford his house if he stops working? I guess its too late to set up an appointment with the financial planner.
If I had a broken neck, I wouldn't need a big house, just a big room with a really nice ceiling. ;)

From Wikipedia:
In the 1990s, McMahon was reputed to be worth in excess of US$200 million in real estate holdings (particularly in Malibu) and real estate partnerships, although his net worth declined somewhat, due to several divorce settlements and a nationwide drop in real estate.

I thought it was a gated community? How do the Papps get in??
Hi GIG! It is gated but there's a big turnaround spot at the gate. I think the paps pile up there, waiting for Brits to go in or out. To me, it's a down-market community; if I had the bread, I'd live elsewhere.
I remember the mold lawsuit Sheeps...that was my first thought when I saw this thread.

No sypmpathy here.
This man made plenty of money over the years. Certainly enough to pay off a $4.8 million mortgage. I wouldn't help if I could.

Lesson Learned: Live within your means.
Why doesn't his wife get a job? Isn't she some young chickee?
After over a half century in the business you'd think he would have some savings. Too many trophy wives, I guess.

He won a 7 million dollar judjement a few years ago because of a "mold problem" with this property.
What the hell Ed????
That sucks.
and MK you are pure eBil!
lol
"Has Ed entered the American Family Publishers sweepstakes? He may have already won $10 million!"
Ed was a Marine pilot in WWII and Korea, so you've got to give him that. He used to own a lot of houses in Malibu, Bel-Aire, etc. I know he owned one in Toluca Lake, cuz I used to see him at the local Gelson's. He was in a nasty, protracted lawsuit in the '90s over mold contamination to one house. He recovered millions. It sounds like his asking price for the current house was too high, esply for the Summit, a nouveau-riche community.

He can't get work b/c he broke his neck a year and a half ago? Well... too bad. I'm pretty sure most 85 year olds can't get work if they want it, entertainer or not. Call it ageism... or not spending your money wisely.

"Ed's spokesbitch said he hasn't been able to get work since breaking his neck 18 months ago."
Well, cripes, Ed, hello, no retirement plan? Who works at 85? And how much equity is in that freaking house? Drop the price, pull out a million and rent a nice condo in Florida, they're going for cheap now that they've overbuilt and nobody is buying.
In the PePaw's defense, though, I think he has tons of alimony he's paying or has paid over the years. So it's conceivable he doesn't have a lot saved. For that reason, I agree, start living within your means. Tons of older folks need to sell their bigger homes and move into more modest places to save $.
