Earlier, I posted about how Clint Eastwood said Spike Lee needs too "shut his face" after Spike said he was pissed off that Clint didn't feature any African American soldiers in a couple of his war movies.
Spike has responded to ABC News! Spike said, "First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation either."
Escandalo! You better duck. Clint is going to throw his caramel squares at Spike.
He went on to say, "He's a great director. He makes his films, I make my films. The thing about it though, I didn't personally attack him. And a comment like 'a guy like that should shut his face' -- come on Clint, come on. He sounds like an angry old man right there."
Angry old man? Yup, that sounds like Clint. What's Spike's point?
"If he wishes, I could assemble African-American men who fought at Iwo Jima and I'd like him to tell these guys that what they did was insignificant and they did not exist. I'm not making this up. I know history. I'm a student of history. And I know the history of Hollywood and its omission of the one million African-American men and women who contributed to WWII. Not everything was John Wayne, baby." YES! That's the way I like, Spike. Nice and dirty.
Spike finished with, "In his vision of Iwo Jima, Negro soldiers did not exist. Simple as that. I have a different version."
Seriously, these two parrots need to stop squawking and start brawling! If they don't want to take part in an oiled up cage fight, they can do a good old-fashioned dance off! I bet you Clint can make that ass clap like we were at the opera.
Yes, African-Americans fought on Iwo Jima, but in supply units (the 8th Ammunition Company and 36th Supply Company). Some of these men did see some intense combat, but the location was far from Mount Surabachi, where the events depicted in "Flags of Our Fathers" took place. An LA Times piece states there were 900 African-American Marines on Iwo Jima, although official records place the number closer to 700 (out of 80,000 Marines involved). Also, there is a shot including African-Americans early in the film, and a photograph of them can be seen among the historic images shown during the credits.
Instead of attacking Eastwood, Lee should focus on insuring that "Miracle at St Anna" is more accurate than the book it is based on, as that novel's military details are factually flawed.
Spike Lee needs to go fucking die already. Making everything about race.

Many times the word Racist is used to describe a person who disagree with another person's thinking if they are of a different race...but what I find is that everyone is not necessary a racist but they may be prejudice...Now hold on, do not be too quick to reject this description...Many Blacks are prejudice within their own communities...understand the meaning of the word...first it could be very well possible that a person may not hate or dislike a person of another race but may have slighted views and opinions because of the lack of understanding, knowledge, and experience with other people...the media can contribute to these prejudge opinions and that is what prejudice can be...so I say this understand people like Spike and Sharpton, this is not to say that if you don't that you are a racist, you may only have a hard time of understanding because you can not feel their anger because it does not affect you or your friends and family or your community, but it doesn't not mean that you are a racist, you just don't understand and may and only may suggest that you may be prejudice...I prejudge people who use drugs but I do not hate or dislike them and their are some in my immediate family and friends. I prejudge poor people at times but I do not dislike or hate them, these too are wihin my family and circle of friends...I am not even suggesting that you are prejudice (for those who responded negatively) but (for those who throwout the title racist so fast and quickly) consider this, let's not label everyone as a racist, you only prevent for a real dialog about issues, about any and all issues; people who do not think themselves as a racist are and will be offended and rightly so; therefore, they do not want that label; they may only be prejudice (perhaps) and we all have and can be prejudice about people and many other things...these we can work through racism is harder...lets talk!!!
@Peaboard- Eastwood's movie is about the men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima, not the entire war. He didn't include any blacks because they did not take part in the flag-raising. There was a Native American man who did take part in the flag-raising, and Eastwood cast a Native American actor to play that part.

And did he not use a % of Whites in that same flm...? So I ask where is the % of Blacks in those two films of Clint...? His stories or films continue the lie and deliberate exclusion of Blacks to the point that in the future when people view his films they will conintue to see only Whites fighting in and at Iwo Jima and other battles in and during WWII as well as WWI and Korea. This is why so many people are not aware that so many Blacks lives were lost in all the wars America fought. In addition, Blacks have aways shown their patriotic duty to this country and continue to have to prove their love for this country even as this country have mistreated Blacks before, during and after the wars; including today. If you are going to tell a story, one of historical content and were people will and can view it as an recount of history you must tell the truth and not tilt it by exclusion...

For one, Black Power was an uplifting movement during the late 60's and 70's to better the lives of the Black family. While it is separatist, it's intentions were good. It wasn't all we hate whitey speech. It came about after the civil rights era because we were sick of the sham of so-called "civil rights" for all. We still werent being treated equally.
On the other hand On Wikipedia, white power redirects to White Supremacy. Hmmmm... go figure!

Careful what you say. It's pretty much known that MLK only wanted to be the face of the civil rights movement. He had beef with SNCC(another civil rights group) and would only work with them if he was the front runner. He was a political panderer, much like Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Hell Jesse was his right hand man. Im sure he shared many of the same beliefs of MLK, so why does everyone think JJ is a joke?
Im one of those people that believe that civil rights wouldve been accomplished even without MLK. This is no conspiracy theory. There was a documentary on it on PBS.
