They Grow Up So Fast
It seems like it was just yesterday when lil' Dakota Fanning was reading a story to a slow Sean Penn in "I Am Sam." Look at her now! All grown up with a mouthful of butter! I shouldn't hate. She doesn't even have to butter her corn before eating it.
Seriously, my teefs have been looking a little Country Crock-ish lately. I tried that whitening shit you go to sleep with, but I cannot fuck with that stuff. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking someone dropped a load of bleach in my mouth. That shit burns your teefs off. I'll stick to painting my teefs with Wite Out.

Ummm even if she had braces FOREVER her teeth shouldn't be that damn yellow! Maybe she never brushed...gross
A few years back I tried a teeth whitener my dentist was selling - the kind that they make a mold of your teeth so the trays will fit properly. I used as little of the whitening gel as possible and I kid you not, a piece of my gum came off. And, my teeth hurt when I BREATHED. Bad stuff.

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!!! A mouth full of butter. I have to admit, her grill WAS the first thing I noticed when I scrolled down to view her picture. Goodness gracious! Even if she DID just get her braces off, her dentist should have whitened her teeth before she left the office.
I really hope she doesn't end up like most other child stars.
She SEEMS like she's growing up the right way, but who knows.
How old is she now? Something like 13 or 14 I think?
Lets just hope she doesn't turn out like the whores Disney produces.

Hey, stop picking on her teefs. Most normal kids have teeth like that until they grow into them. I had big chiclet teef when I was her age and they got straight and normal looking without braces. Granted, they are a bit yellow, but it's hard to remember what real teeth look like. We're all so used to chalk teeth now.

Anyone who's seen the average kid who just got their braces off knows unless they were toothbrush Nazis that her teeth look normal. It's kinda hard to clean them well with metal covering most of the surface.

@ JoeSchmoe! ITA, and it's better for teeth to be this color at her age. It shows she has a lot of dentin and her teeth will last a lot longer and be a lot stronger than others with whiter teeth at this age. It does lighten up after puberty. Doesn't really matter, I'm sure she smiles all the way to the bank! Headin' out for a bit!

I think she looks healthy and cute. The thing with her teeth thing must be genetic. I think she'd show other signs (circles under her eyes, acne rashes) if she was a pack a day smoker or a coffee drinker - maybe tea, tho...?
Anyhow, it's too true that we do put a lot of pressure on kids that they just don't need. For the love of Pete, let's let them worry about what's INSIDE themselves for a while and the beauty will likely just shine through. Eventually. It just takes time for kids to grow up - a whole lot more than we allow them, generally.
On a completely different note, Dakota is part of an industry that has standards, - she needs to be compartmentalized and how she presents herself is how "they/we" will decide to do that.
If she wanted to grow up to be a forest ranger or a vetrinarian, then everyone could easily say: "Aw, she so adorable!" So the public outrage at yellow teeth and a face without makeup *could* be understood, to some extent.

I like her. She actually looks her age, and isn't trying to look like she's in her mid-20s like most young actresses. I think she's a good role model...unlike Jamie Lynn, Miley Cyrus, Ali Lohan, etc.

Her teeth aren't bad. She shouldn't even have to worry about her looks when she's that age! It's sad that so many kids feel the pressure to look pretty before they even turn 10....
FOr God's sake, not everybody is born with a blinding smile and perfect teeth. Bad nutrition or lack of brushing looks WAY worse than that. Ever been up close to someone who never brushes? I have, *shudder* and the teeth don't just look vaguely off white, like hers. They have a thick coating of *gag* disgusting greenish/grayish plaque etc . She just doesn't have very white enamel. Brushing with a wire brush until the cows come home isn't going to make them any whiter. Maybe her parents are waiting until she's a little older to start making her *perfect*

This is what a 14 yr old girl looks like: natural, no make up, no hair extensions and wearing appropriate clothing.
Dakota reminds me of a young Jodie Foster, when she made Bad News Bears. I just watched that movie. She was so adorable!
