They Did It!
Yesterday, I posted about these two hot gayelle memaws from San Francisco that were planning to finally make it legal again after 55 years together. Well, they did it! Phyllis Lyon, 84, and Del Martin, 87, reportedly became the first gayelle couple married in the state of California at 5:01pm in San Francisco's City Hall.
Phyllis told the crowd at City Hall, "We're very happy and we're very grateful for all of you coming." Click here to see video of these hot married memaws cutting the cake.

Reading their story and seeing their pictures almost made me want to cry. I hate it when I get sentimental on here.. It sucks. And I am totally anti-marriage in my own life - it's a personal choice.. but everyone should be able to make that personal choice for themselves -regardless of sexual preference.
The government is supposed to be a separation of church and state but the laws prohibiting gay marriage are based on religion.. that is a complete contradiction.
This story warms my jaded, hardened, bitter black heart. A few months ago, I told my nephew that in 10-15 years the prohibition of gay marriage will be done away with in most, if not all, states. And when he gets older -- he will look bad at this time we are living in and realize how ridiculous society was... much like, we look back at when black people were slaves.. when they were not allowed to vote.. when women were not able to vote.. Perhaps, this change will come sooner than my 10-15 year estimate.
The civil rights movement is far from over! Not until all US states lift the ban on gay marriage.
(PS- I can't stand the mayor of San Fran, Gavin Newsom...no offense.. he did do a good thing here but I think he's a scumbag).
Seriously watching this made me get all teary! Congrats to the lovely ladies, again!

I firmly believe this is a civil rights issue akin to the black civil rights movement on the 60s. I'm glad to be witnessing such a historical moment.
Really hope this stays legal here. I am so sick of people (who are sometimes married 2 or 3 times) using the bible to create hate. The United States should be open to ALL PEOPLE FINDING THEIR HAPPINESS.(As long as they are both over 18 and both willingly paticipate!) The whole marriage institution is outdated anyways. I would guess that 60% of people who actually stay together do so for financial reasons. I suspect had these women been allowed to marry years ago, they would be divorced! HA the world has a long way to go.

Firefox = has its issues, but is the easiest to deal with in Windows.
IE = The great portal to most spyware and buggy to boot. I refuse to use IE7 because it sucks *so* much and IE6 is only tolerable in small doses.
Avant = meh.
Maxthon = Essentially acts like a plugin extension for IE to look and act like Firefox. Except...it's still using the IE engine. Fail.
Flock = meh.
Netscape = The Original Alternative browser and still deserves some respect, but it irritates me to no end.
Opera = doesn't render certain things very well but is still the only acceptable alternative to Firefox.
Safari = pain in the ass.
Camino = even BIGGER pain in the ass.
Firefox just works for me (and clearly many others) and it's very easily customizable. Doesn't take a genius to work with it but is still highly acceptable for higher end users. So, to the "right mind" comment, I say: :P :P :P. It's an equally mature response.

I do. IE is to slow and not as secure as firefox. I had mucho problems with IE and then I say enough and I get firefox. No problem!!!! Ever. So I say it is good.
