Memaw Omkari Panwar - The world's oldest mommy. 70-year-old Omkari gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, in India after taking IVF treatment. Omkari and her husband have two daughters and five grandchildren, but they were really desperate to have a boy, so they spent their savings and took out a loan for IVF treatment. She delievered two months early via c-section. Yeah, her vagina is retired.
Omkari said, "We already have two girls but we wanted a boy so that he could have taken care of our property. This boy and girl are God's greatest gift to us."

also I am sure she used donor eggs. No way is a 70 yr old woman fertile with IVF.
IVF does not mean you can choose the sex of the baby, unless gender selection was done and only a few labs do it and it is VERY expensive.

Because their attitude is selfish. They won't live to raise their children to adulthood. They'll foist that task on their adult daughters. It's not the daughter's responsibilities to raise those babies.
And the fact that the woman is 70 borders on obscene. Her body stopped being fertile a long time ago. Screwing with nature because of their selfish need for a male heir is the worst kind of parent I can think of.
And quite frankly, India isn't exactly in danger of going extinct. The money they used for IVF could have been used to adopt a boy.
But that's just my lame-ass opinion. Carry on.

Well, I offer my congratulations. True, this is extreme, but they probably had compelling reasons to make their decision. If they can afford IVF they probably have some money to protect. I don't agree with how their socieity works, but it's not my (or anybody's) place to judge them based on something they can't control. Anyway, there are thousands of women who begin high risk & life threatening pregnancies every day. Why is this any different?
The ONLY upside to the lesser ratio of girls to boys in India now is that the custom of DOWRY, otherwise known as extortion, will hopefully be eliminated.

I know you didn't ask me but I think about this kinda thing all the time, and I'm a loud-mouth:)
I think our technological and scientific advances are AWESOME. We have learned how to do so many fabulous things - like help a childless couple conceive.
I think we (they - but it's my race, the human race, that is) play with this knowledge like a bunch of little kids. There's so little common sense, so little rationale, so little self-restraint...I mean - was there not one person protesting this? And if there was - how is it that no one listened?
AS GIG mentioned - Shouldn't a DOCTOR no - every doctor - , at least, have enough common sense to say that this is a ridiculous idea?

As usual, the eldest daughters will most likely take care of those baby twins if the old timers die. It's a blessing for the backwards old timers to have babies at such an old age, but it will be a burden for the other children once they kick the bucket. It's lame and it's not fair.

Very common in India for parents to neglect, abort or commit infanticide against baby girls. There is a big gap between the number of boys and girls in some areas.
