STFU Elisabeth!
Elisabeth Hasselbarf got all emotional on "The View" today while talking about the use of the "N" word. It all started when the group of hens started yapping about Jessie Jackson using the word in a news tape on Fox News. Elisabeth tried to argue that we all live in the same world and so nobody should use that word ever, because of the children. Think of the children!
That's when Whoopi turned on and told Elisabeth that we don't live in the same world, and that the word is only as powerful as we allow it to be. The fake bitch didn't understand this shit so she started breaking down.
You know when you hear bad news and you don't really care about it, but you think you should care about it, so you try and force the tears to come out? That's what Elisabeth was doing. Bitch needs to learn the "pull your pubic hairs" technique to bring on the real tears.
Ugh. She's so annoying! I just wanted Whoopi to calmly walk over and slap her in the teeth. That would've made the bitch cry for real.
Thank God for crazy ass Barbara Walters who saved the day with her zany tongue.

"...and that the word is only as powerful as we allow it to be."
This is so true. This word is only as powerful as we allow it to be. But so many of us were raised to never say it, and so for many of us, we recoil when we hear it. For me, I won't ever not be jarred a bit when I hear that word pass through anyone's lips, black or white. It would be great to be able to remove the stinger from the word, so to speak, but I'll never be able to do so.
And so while I think Hassleback is an unsufferable whiner, I would say I do see her point, that is, if I didn't think the whole episode was forced and contrived coming from her.

Wrong! That word has no place in usage for blacks or whites. Its an ugly word and cannot be separated from its ugly past
Race is funny. My mom married my stepfather (Who happends to be black) when I was 8. Back in the 80's if I went by myself with him anywhere, at least one person would stare at us. He never ever used the word 'nigger' or 'nigga'. Growing up with a black dad was good for me. Many of the people I know who have used 'nigga' in speech were wannabe gang bangers copying rap music. If people want to use a specific word go ahead! Just remember that words are really just energy and in life positive energy is important.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I remember this elderly white lady teling me and a friend (black) of mine how she found out what wop and nigger meant when she was little, most likely 70 some years ago. It was offensive to both of us, even if she wasn't using it in a deliberately offensive way. I think any derogatory racil slur should be resevred for use by ignorant people.
thanks lct :) ♥

I think Whoopi is right, BUT I kinda feel bad for Elizabeth in this situation. White people generally feel awkward when speaking on the subject of race and black folks, and I'm thinking whatever she had said would have ended up being wrong in some way. That's usually how it works.
Stoney, I totally agree. That happened to me on Dlisted this morning. I made a comment that somehow "wasn't right" and then it turned into a race comment, which is not how I meant it. Nothing I said was going to be "right" after that, so I let it go.

I dont use the word but I understand it and accept that black people use it, and love Whoopi's view on the subject and explanation to why that dumb cunt cant use it. And nothing about Elisabitch Hasslecrack personifies acceptance ,it has to be her way or she starts crying.
Wait... did the other black chick just say Jesse was the "main reponent"? What's a reponent?

Seriously, being white and talking to a black person about race is the scariest thing ever. It doesn't matter what you say, it's always wrong.* And you experience a near death experience with the cardiac arythmias that develop while trying not to offend or say the wrong thing.
*I acknowledge that I have some understanding black friends and have, on occassion, not been ripped to shreads during conversation.

Again, dead on. (And no, I'm not looking for a loan or anything:-).
The best interpretation that I have ever heard about the difficulty that the races (in particular blacks and whites) have in discussing those differences is this: As a white person who is trying to explain that you are not prejudiced, that blacks and whites are equal, etc., etc., the natural nervousness that you have in the situation will lead you to overexplain, which combined with the nervousness will lead you to misstep or say something that can inevitably be misinterpreted.
As everyone who has ever posted on Dlisted knows, misinterpretations and misstatements are rampant in this life.
They should've called Jesse Jackson live on air....

yes ma'am
We still live in the same world, as long as the world we are currently sharing is what I would call racist.
Is it better? Yes.
Is it gone? No.
And for those that don't want to hear about race and prejudice and being slighted for things beyond your control, you are part of the problem.
If you don't discuss it, it will never be better.
There. Some advice you can fuckin' live by.

As horrible as the word is, the N-word isn't going away any time soon. I sure as hell don't condone it, but i also can't condemn it when a black person chooses to use it. Words only gain power when people give them power.

Nearly most of my life I have been surrounded mostly by people that did not look like me. And it is important to never sugarcoat your existence or your reality to make it an easier pill for someone else to swallow.
Hasselcrack certainly cannot speak for most people, because her views alone show that she comes from an entirely different experience than 85% of the people I have ever met.
**
I think the important thing you highlight here is personal experience. I dont think its right for anyone to determine whats appropriate for everyone else.
Im fine with the word. Im white. Ive been fucked over by blacks more than Ive been fucked over by any other race. This may be because Im white. I can accept that. Blacks were fucked over by whites for no other reason than being black for centuries in this country. But if I get raped, robbed or beat by a black, you can be sure as hell Ill call them a nigger.
If I had never had these experiences, I wouldnt feel comfortable using the word. Its a loaded word.
No one is going to always agree with how you express yourself. As long as you know you have the knowledge and experience to back up what you say, then you can only be you, and just say what you say.

Hi:
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. As a Latina I've had the pleasure to experience racism and discrimination because of my looks. It has happened in NY, Boston, Georgia and South Jersey.
I would love for this world to be one happy family but its not like that.
Thank you for hearing me out :)
PS: I think when Whoopi said the word 'world' she meant it as 'our everyday lives/realities' are different
----------------------
I would like to point out to you that white people are not exempt from racism either. People of every other race are always accusing us of being racists. Always. We get it too. And I still think we all still live in the same world.

Elizabeth should've known better. Anytime a white person gets into this discussion, they don't have a chance. Whoopi asked for opinions, but I think she really only wanted it from the other black co-host and was ready to pounce on the white women for opening their mouths on the subject.

Since I brought up Nancy G., let me clarify and say that I don't dislike her--- in fact, she makes several really good points on the laughability of our Justice System and how our laws are not now (and probably never will be) equally enforced.
I'm just not naive enough to think that her Producers would ever book someone with an opposing viewpoint who has anywhere near the IQ points or knowledge of the law that she does. She may be a Lawyer, but that's Show Biz, folks.

The N word should be banned across the board or else it should be a word that we all can use. There should be no double standard. If it's OK for Whoopi and Sherri to call their friends and family by the N word, in an affectionate way, it should be OK for anyone else to call them that too, in an affectionate way.

Double standard?? Who watches this piece of shit show?? But that wacko religous cunt might be right if they find that word coming from non-blacks offensive, then stop using it in public around non-blacks!!
The N-word?
the real N-word?
I've never really used it, not even if I include the times I've quoted someone else saying it. It was an automatic knockout if you uttered it in my house growing up.
I don't like to hear it spoken by anyone - black or white.
But I certainly don't allow white people to call me 'n*gga' or any of the other ways it is spelled or pronounced. Still the same goddamn word.
