The Dark Knight Made A Shit Load Of Cash

The Dark Knight knocked Spider-Man 3 off the top spot for the biggest opening weekend ever. TDK made around $155.3 million this weekend, beating SM3's $151.1 million opening last year. TDK also broke a bunch of other records too. Basically, people are losing it for this movie. Women that aren't even pregnant are going into labor over this shit. It's nuts.

Here's the top 5 movies at the box office this weekend:

1. The Dark Knight - $155.3 million
2. Mamma Mia! - $27.6 million
3. Hancock - $14 million
4. Journey to the Center of the Earth - $11.9 million
5. Hellboy II - $10 million

I skipped seeing TDK after I saw the 3-hour line from hell for it. It was worse than the fucking iPhone line! I opted for the homo fiesta known as Mamma Mia! At least I thought it was going to be a homo fiesta.

Seriously, I thought I was going to get butt fucked by a plethora of glittery gayness. NOT! It didn't even satisfy my homo tooth. It was AWFUL! First of all, it felt like I was watching it in the rec room of a retirement home. Memaws on my left, pepaws on my right. Second of all, Pierce Brosnan should never be allowed to sing ever again. They should have gotten Kermit the Frog to dub his singing voice. It would've sounded better. Even the memaws in the audience were laughing at him! When a memaw laughs at you, it's time to excuse yourself and sit in the nearest corner. Basically, don't pay money for this shit. Buy yourself a cocktail instead. It tastes better and won't leave you thinking bad thoughts about Pierce Brosnan.

And just because, here's some pics of Christian Bale leaving LAX with his family yesterday.

I heard it's so good that bald men grow their hair back when they see it.

My girlfriend said she lost 20 lbs. and could fit back into jeans from highschool as soon as she walked out of the theater. It's THAT good.

Family counselors will be using this movie to heal family rifts and prevent divorces FOREVER more. Yes, it's that good.

lmfao! Madam s., hands down, sarcarsm at its finest! lol

-Can't argue with you on that. I haven't seen the movie yet though so until I do my opinion is pretty much nil and void. The movie looks like a winner regardless and I'm sure I'll enjoy it as I've enjoyed other Batman movies.

Those of you that complain about the Adverts for TDK, with the Joker, you haven't a clue what the hell you are talking about....this movie could just as easily have been called Batman and Joker...Joker IS what turns Batman into the Dark Knight....before that he considers dropping the whole Batman thing altogether.

It is about 50/50 for the two...a back and forth between them...and the Joker literally steals the show....he is THAT GOOD.

The movie does NOT begin with batman...it begins with the JOKER, showing off his brilliance, brutality, and Humor....it is such a masterful portrayal that you NEVER see heath ledger...only the Joker.

This movie is a classic portrayal of good versus evil...or perhaps sanity versus insanity....the selfless against the selfish...pick your allegory.

It doesn't just live up to the hype...it puts the hype to shame....that is how good it is.

I thought the Joker would be a makeup-shallow character with a typical background of crazy that define the person for us and diminishes his reach in affecting our view of the character...but by the end you begin to think that the Joker may be onto something in his twisted profundity...inspite of his despicable acts.

Ledger made the Joker his own....he owns that role FOREVER. As much as I enjoed Jack's portayal in the 80's, he is the upstart, Ledgers is the Master.

That is what makes his death tragic....what Bale did for Batman and the Superhero Genre....Ledger has done for the Supervillain....he was the greatest adversary that Batman could face....someone not quite crazy...at least in the way most people understand...and equal in brilliance and in articulating his fiendish mentality..to that of batman.

I loved this movie. 10/10.

I saw this abut his wife:

"Christian, 33, is happily married to Sandra “Sibi” Blazic, who is four years his senior. She is a one-time model, make-up artist, and personal assistant to Winona Ryder, who happened to be Christian’s co-star on “Little Women.”

So she falls into the "model" category.

LunaChick,

Google again... I'm not Christian Bale crazy like some of the girls on here, but I do respect the fact that he is super private, does his work and then goes home, and never skanked it around Hollywood. His wife wasn't a model, actress, or particularly dynamic, and although she is quite pretty she's no vixen. She was Winona Ryder's assistant (and she was once used in a Kevin Aucoin book to demonstrate makeup techniques on). I think he married pretty humbly and sincerely since he could be doing the George Clooney thing.

I love Christian Bale and I hope that is his wife, it would be awesome if he married a normal woman and not an actress/model/singer/stripper like most of Hollywood.

ETA - I googled to see if that was his wife. Nope, he married a "model" like the rest of Hollywood. Dang.

I saw the Broadway play - it was very good. The movie looks like it will suck, though - I don't think I'd even rent that crap.

I just saw the movie last night and I absolutely loved it! The whole time I watched this movie all I could think of is how much of a tragedy it is that heath ledger is gone. He is an incredible actor and he captivated the audience with his performance. I liked this verson of batman a lot because it seemed more realistic than the others, and the story came together well throughout the movie. I just don't know how anyone can top heath in the next one. RIP.

TDK is fucking awesome. Heath (RIP) is amazing and definitely deserves an Oscar for his performance. Too bad the stupid bastards will never give it to him. Jesus, the whole MOVIE deserves a best picture nod at least, but that REALLY won't happen.

I went with a bunch of people, and got there three hours early for the show on Friday. We took turns standing in line and going to dinner, so it worked out pretty nicely. It was geeky as hell, but whatever; it was worth it.

Also, Christian Bale is so damn fine in this movie, I almost couldn't believe it.

I saw it yesterday at a noon matinee. Very entertaining and thought-provoking movie. BUT it goes on waaay too long. I had to pee dammit. I'm shocked it made so much money. Tickets are only $11.75. That's what $1.50 or more then when Spider Man 3 came out. Good or bad movies are costing more then a month of cable. Movie for two, popcorn, drinks and maybe M & M's only $112.57

What I like about this new Batman compared to Tim Burton's is that they make it more believable- they don't focus too much on the crazy technology, and with enough money they make it seem like anything can be made, esp. with a genius like Lucius Fox and the Wayne Corporation.

And, Christian Bale actually creates a real Batman character.

Plus, Batman is more believable to me than other superheroes with superhuman powers- Batman just has a ton of money, is trained in several forms of combat, is smart, and has awesome technology.

And the batsuit is pretty cool. He can turn his head, too.

Let's all do the Batusi a la Adam West!

Saw TDK, and I have to say it fucking rocks. I got tickets online and saw it at matinee on Saturday, and it wasn't sold out (it was the night before..)

Heath Ledger really made the Joker all he could be and more. He really could have been such an actor, had he not died. At least he got to show off his acting chops in this movie.

The only thing that bugged me (SPOILER SPOILER SORT OF) was that two-face still had an eye. If his face was burned to shit like that, that eye would be long gone. I would have made that more realistic, but oh well. (END SPOILER)

I think Katie Holmes is a big assed idiot for not fixing her schedule to star in this. She'd have made a boatload of money. Oh well, Maggie G. did a good job- I like her better than Katie "I sold my soul" Holmes.

I totally want to own Batman Begins and this now. And I am excited for the next installment.

I am a collector- I fall right in to the marketer's traps. Grrrrr. For example, I have to own the fourth Indiana Jones movie because I own the first three. And I need to own the most recent three Star Wars movies because I own the first three. UGH!!!! OCD, maybe?

I can't think of a bad word to say about Christian Bale. Actually, I don't think I know anything about him or his life.

He was brilliant in The Machinist.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I'm already pining the loss of Kate Cruse. She was forgettable in the first film, and pretty much anybody would have been a +1 in replace of her, but Maggie Gyllenhall? The insufferably smug ham that is Maggie Gyllenhall? Aiaiai.

I long for the day that she just fucks off. Same goes for her brother.
