I lived in jersey for like 3 years thanks to the military, but this is a new phenom for me. I've never heard the term guido before, so I looked it up on urbandictionary.com, and this is what I got:

GUIDO:
A sad pathetic excuse for a male; not necessarily of Italian descent, but most likely; usually native to the New York/New Jersey Tri-State area.

I live in North Jersey and we don't go down to the shore as often as we used to.

i dont see thats its a slur. guineas would be more of an italian slur or ginzo. its like saying homo or orientals. its not the best thing to say, but its not slurlike.

I guess I just take offense to the whole premise. It's showing the worst, and most stereotypical behavior of (some) Italian-Americans.

Guido is usually considered derogatory or an ethnic slur. Since when is it okay to openly use ethnic slurs?

If this was called "nigga beach", "chink beach", "spic beach", or something equally offensive, you'd all be in an uproar. But, because they're Italian, it's completely acceptable to show derogatory, stereotypes.

I noticed that they were using offensive language themselves, such as "jewville" and when that chick was talking about being Mexican as if it was a really bad thing. I also got from it that they refer to themselves as guidos and are quite proud of it.

That's funny because when people are like "We want to move to Oceanside because it's cheap" I tell them there is a reason for it being so cheap. And I have respect for the Military, but living with them is too much. The Reader just did an article a few months ago on Oceanside and all of the gangs there. So true. Any beach area is expensive. OB seems to be the last semi-affordable beach town. I guess you could go up to North County. Maybe Oceanside. But the beach there is contending with wannabe gang members or marines back from Iraq. Nothing wrong with that. But being that you are from here you know what I mean.

That letter caused so much drama with people from Staten Island, but I say it was deserved. They trash the rental properties, exceed occupancy in the rentals, start fights (not that there aren't any fight when they're not around, but more juiced up roid heads = more violence). I loved that letter.

Belmar is more of an SI place, whereas Seaside is mostly North Jersey. We call these people BENNYS (Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, New York).
