I wouldn't say 100% Before this she was a kid whose view of the world could be molded. As she grew and joined the ranks of celebrity superstar or whateverthefuck she had a bunch of suits huddled around her making decisions. I think there are lots of other people who can be sentenced to death for their misapplication of their duties. People who's pictures we never ever see. People who will live happily ever after with their bundles of money, their 2.5 children and their white picket fences; who never took a moment to consider how their decisions might be shaping the fate of someone's life.

I'm not saying they encouraged her to do anything she's done beyond creating certain kinds of stressors that would prevent her from accessing her right thinking. I think it's proven over and over again - or else: why would we just assume stardom to be a struggle? Why isn't it that when one reaches this status they are freed from such struggles? It's not like she's the only one, after all.

Jee-suuuhssss. She used to actually dress up and clean up nice before performing. Now she's doing gigs wearing whatever it is she had on when she woke up.

So I asked my friend who worked at her record company before his own band took off what the deal was with Amy Winehouse the other night and it pretty much was as expected. She started off fairly normally, a graduate of the Brit school (produces lots of singers and bands in the UK charts these days, all pretty clean cut e.g. Katie Melua, Adele, The Kooks etc). Her first album was well-received but not stellar and she started to get more into the druggie Camden scene. The bad behaviour started to get her more publicity and she realised that the worse she behaved the more attention she got. So thats why she's always out on the streets, in a mess, getting photographed - its her PR strategy. Like me, my friend thinks she is overrated and her latest album is very derivative - a typical 60's pastiche. Her first album was far more original. Basically I think she perseveres with the crackhead behaviour as deep down she doesn't think she's that talented and wouldn't have the ridiculous success she's having without it. I'm sure I'm not the first or fiftieth to ask, but HOW is it that all the people around her cannot throw her ass into a shower and get her cleaned up and to a gig on time? Shit, if I was her management I'd hire Kim Woodburn and Aggie fucking MacKenzie to go clean her up and bring her to gigs.

Amen, nearly every concert, Zalon and his brother, (can't think of the name) have to work twice as hard, because Winehouse can't focus off her high, remember the lyrics or remember her cues.
