Jade Goody Has Cancer
British reality star, Jade Goody, was in India filming the county's version of "Big Brother" called "Bigg Boss" when she was told she has cervical cancer. With the cameras rolling, Jade was told over the phone by her doctor. She immediately ran out crying and announced to the other houseguests, "I have cancer." Again, the cameras are still rolling. The station has no plans to air the scenes on television. Yeah, they say that now! The Sun reports that there's rumors the footage will air in the UK. Why not just release it as a special DVD box set?
Jade has since left the reality show and is on her way back to England for treatment. Earlier this month, Jade had undergone a series of tests after she collapsed four times. She decided to go on "Bigg Boss" anyway, because she wanted to patch things up with Shilpa Shetty, the show's host.
Jade and Shilpa did "Celebrity Big Brother UK" together a while back. It wasn't peaches and cream. Jade was accused of calling Shilpa every racist name in the book. She later apologized. Shilpa went on to win the reality show. Shilpa issued this statement about Jade's condition: “I was really sad when I heard the news. It’s a tough time for her and I hope she is able to cope with this pain.”
Jade's rep also issued this statement: "It looks like her cancer is at an early stage but we will have to wait until she gets back to Britain and sees a specialist and has more tests."
Maybe she should follow the way of Christina Applegate (see below) and start living macrobiotically. I still don't know what that means, but I like the word. I'm just going to start telling people, "Oh, I live macrobiotically." It sounds fancy.

Hm having experienced the horrendous, drawn-out and excruciatingly painful deaths of people I love at a very young age (both me and them) I would never wish cancer on another single human being on this planet - whatever they have done in their lives. I think people need to think long and hard about what they're saying before they rejoice in someone else's diagnosis, however much they dislike them. Racist views are disgusting, as are homophobic ones, but unfortunately I hear them very often in life - even from members of my own family - so I think Jade is far from the only racist in Britain. Having said that, the first thing I thought when I heard this was this is what she needed to finally rehabilitate her in the eyes of the British public and relaunch her career. It also coincides with the launch of her new perfume and the broadcast of her latest reality show - fortunate timing hey? My guess is they've known for a while and it is possibly (and hopefully for the mother of 2 young boys) highly treatable. But you wait - witness the reinstatement of Jade Goody to a position of adoration amongst the British public - we're that fickle.

Yeah, uh, I'm not a doctor (or a female) but it's my understanding that Gardasil only covers a few of the hundreds of strains of HPV. It does cover the strains that most often cause cervical cancer but it's overall efficacy in actually lowering cancer rates is hotly debated. Getting it mandated in schools is much more of a ploy to reap profits for Merck than any grand effort to "save" young girls who might contract HPV that just might turn out to be one of the worse strains and that might just possibly eventually turn into a case of cervical cancer. Maybe they should a vaccine for teen pregnancy, since that seems to actually affect more than 1 in 100,000 women. (Cervical cancer is a much bigger problem in developing nations than it is in the US.) All the shit about "Omgz it will be telling teen girls it's ok to have sex!!!" is a complete red herring.

I've had my first two Gardacil (sp?) injections and let me tell you those things hurt like a BITCH. Plus, several of my friends got violently ill after getting the shots. I'm scared to go get my third one because I'm afraid it'll make me sick too. (Not arguing with you about the fact that people should try to get them, though - I think it's definitely better to get a little sick from a shot than to die of cervical cancer and whatnot).
