The Olympics Are Over....

THANK THE ALMIGHTY CHRIST, FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT! AFUCKINGMEN!!

My only issue with the medal count (and I am from the US) is that it seemed like for the team sports, the US was counting every medal... meaning, for water polo, or basketball, or team gymnastics, or syncronized diving etc... they were counting the number of medals handed out.... Oh, look, we got 6 gold medals for the 4x100 freestyle swimming relay! No.... the gold medal should only count once for a team sport. If youare on the 8 woman rowing team, the count is one medal for one race, one sport.... not 8 medals.

I love the way the US will convolute the way of counting to make us appear to be number one in everything....[eyerolling icon]

You do realise everywhere else has China on top of the medal chart.

America is the only country that counts it's Olympic ranking in terms of total medals won rather than the weight of the medal win - ie total maximum number of gold medals puts you in first place, then silver etc.

I'm Australian so we jump a place using the US system but in our hearts we know we came 6th this time.

For hockey? most definitely, Mr President!

I thought the London part of the ceremony was the best part of the Closing Ceremonies. Love the Leona Lewis/ Jimmy Page performance. Two of my favorites. Could have done without Beckham, though.
Speaking of the Vancouver games, May have to check those out. Hear it's a great city and would love to go even though the only sport I would want to see is the hockey tournament. The tickets I'm sure will be pretty impossible to get.

As a Brit, I was utterly embarrassed by the British effort.

The annoying tweens from the National Youth Theatre (note how we picked black, white, asian, disabled..see how MULTI CULTURAL we are?!) then the stupid cyclists then a bus - a bus that turns into a float! I know we'll stick the X Factor winner in, because people around the world know and care about Leona Lewis, then for cheep cheers we'll just get that Man ho Beckham* to....kick a ball. Mortifying.

As if that's enough that idiot Boris Johnson turns up looking like a penguin crossed with a naughty school boy, couldn't wave a damn flag and has his jacket undone throughout the whole thing. Stuck out like a sore thumb.

*Beckham does not mean sport to anyone in Britan anymore. If he cared about football he would have stayed but he chose money and fame...which is not a bad thing, it means he takes his wife with him. But seeing has he doesn't even necessarily get picked for the first England team anymore, he can hardly represent British sport.

Karen, depending on what the IOC finds, some golds might be pulled from the 10yo gymnasts. An AP reporter found some pretty damnning evidence that those girls were way underage. The chick that tied with Nastia (which was total bullshit)is one of them, and the team medal would be pulled as well. There was def. some messed up judging in gymnastics. How in the hell can someone fall on their fucking knees on their landing still win a medal on vault when others didn't fall like Alicia Sacramone?

Since Olympics began on 8-8-08, I stopped hanging out with my friends (yeah I havent seen them in 17 days. When they called me up, I told them an excuse haha), watched PrimeTime Olympics til it's over for the night. I skipped the boring ones like rowing. Now that it's over (I'm sad it is), I'm not sure what I'll do now...probably finish Breaking Dawn and Harry Potter!

Damn it I dont wanna wait 4 years. By then, I'll probably have no time because of a job. DAMNIT why 4 years?

Im looking forward to Vancouver because this time it won't be 'Previously Recorded' because I live in the same timezone. WOO HOO Finally....oh man I was so excited for Men's Basketball Final because it was actually LIVE!

I'm pretty far away from Canadia Land (St. Louis here), but i'm making the trip because 1) i hear Vancouver is fun; 2) i'm really into figure skating (you are free to make fun of me); 3) Canada really isn't THAT far, we're on the same continent at least; 4) i have a good friend who lives in Victoria; and 5) i want to use my rusty French-speaking skills! I think those reasons can justify the expense :)

Im sure London 2012 will find something to show the world. It may not be as good as Chinas but we will try.
