I agree that is NOT how genetics work, search on YOUTUBE....it's called PEDIGREES EXPOSED, its from the BBC and its 6 parts long, why dont you educate yourself before you start talking like you actually know something? Are you a vet? I didnt think so!

Just for the record..the mutts are healthier than purebreds thing is a myth. Think about it. If you have a poodle that has a propensity for problems A and B and mix her with a labrador with a propensity for C and D, what do you get? A "labradoodle" with a propensity for A,B,C, and D. The problem isn't with purebreds. The problem is with badly bred dogs. This is why you shouldn't buy dogs at pet stores. The people breeding those dogs don't give a damn what's wrong with the parents as long as they can get some "purebred" puppies out of them to sell at insanely high prices. A well bred purebred is just as healthy as any other dog. Back OT..it breaks my heart that this little dog died at such a young age, and my heart breaks for her owner. I just lost my little 14 year old cocker spaniel in November and I still get upset over it. That said I will agree with the others who say that breeding dogs that are this unnaturally tiny causes many health problems and the dog doesn't usually live very long. Maybe that's what happened to all of Paris Hilton's old dogs?

Very well said! The idiot backyard breeders who take years of good bloodlines & eff them up so they can make some new fad designer dog & ignore the genetic hazards they create-just to make a quick buck- piss me OFF. I'm bad though, I did buy one of my dogs at a pet store...one look at him & I just couldn't leave him there(He was meant to be mine lol). Sorry about your doggie:( Hell I still miss my childhood dogs. The hurt never really goes away, it just comes less often imho. It's the same as losing a family member.

She won't have an autopsy done because she can't imagine the vets cutting his little body up and it won't bring him back. She said he died very suddenly and without warning.

I'd want an autopsy done if for any reason, my own closure. But it's her decision.

And that was awesome that you took care of your neighbor/friend like that. He was lucky to have you. :) It's sad when we become so old that other people have to make these decisions for us. It's just not fair. I'm sure he would love it if you visit him regularly, though. Keep your chin up, kiddo. :)

Oh this makes me very sad and watery eyed. I feel so much sadder for the animals than I do the humans, these fucking celebrities need to die at an early age, not the puppers.
Why did this dog die, if she loved it so much, she would have an autopsy done. Fuck, dogs dont just die like that, especially at 2yo. Smaller dogs live much longer than the bigger dogs. Bitch stop crying and have an autopsy done and find out why your lil baby of 4lbs died.

she probably worked that tiny dog to death. My friend got a tiny pomeranian and her kids played with it to death. They said he was so small and all of the excitement and exercise burned off more calories than it took in and it basically starved to death. Fucking murderers.

I think AJP is referring to dogs that visit a clinical situation, such as hospitals that are required to bath the dogs before entering.

Some hospitals require the dogs wear a special "coat" to keep dander from spreading to patients who are allergic.

hey ajp - my sisters dog is a therapy dog (she got him certified so he would be allowed to stay at the AMC huts in the white mountians so he can come on hikes) and ive never heard anything about special baths.

She just takes him to the juvey home or the old ppl home and just let people hang with him.

Then we try and bring him everywhere b/c hes certified. Like "Ma'am, you cant bring your dog into the grocery store" "oh, but he's a therapy dog!" haha.. it works a lot!

Its not like we think Leo's any more special than any other dogs. Well, we do, but its got nada to do with the therapy dog thing.

I know what you mean about every dog (for the most part) being theraputic to the people around them.

But dogs have to pass a certification test to become a therapy dog and thats what allows the dogs to enter places where they usually arent allowed.

I HATE that i missed the parade of doggie therapist because i have some major fucking mother issues to sort out and i fucking love balloons!

I hate to piss on the Therapy Dog parade, but ALL DOGS are "therapy dogs". Okay? Well, 85% of them are. There are some real asshole dogs out there, too. But most dogs will make anyone feel better about things in general. So I don't care what anyone says about the dogs they trot around the old people homes. Any dog will lap up the love and attention and give it back twofold.

Big fucking surprise. It's cruel that they keep breeding dogs smaller and smaller. There's a reason that only certain sizes are recognized by the breed standard and can be registered, because the itty bitty wimpy craps they keep breeding for stupid bitches who want a helpless under arm dogs are known to be unhealthy. RIP.

Hmmm...If i had to guess, your twins are probably toddlers...Say 2 or 3? Toddlers don't understand a dog's "space". A 10 year old Doxie will certainly have established "her space".

I read that when toddlers start to get mobil, everyone has much less time to spare, except the dog.

I am sure you are doing everything you know how to do. Hang in there and do some research online...

I wouldn't go so far to say that it's a myth. If you consider the popularity of small breed dogs and all pure breed dogs in general there's a much higher possibility that people will breed dogs together with problems for the sake of the high selling price these dogs go for. While there are designer breeds("mutts"--basically) I think it is a bit more acurate to say that mutts, or non-designer dogs do have less of a chance genetically to express the more detrimental traits caused by inbreeding or poor breeding in general.

The thing with Dancer is... his owner did not acquire him specifically because he was a tiny dog. Some douches moved out of their apartment and left Dancer's mom behind - alone and pregnant. She gave birth to 2 puppies that the vet thinks were premature. His sister is totally normal while Dancer was a 1/4 the size of his sister. Say or think what you want, but Dancer had a very happy life albeit a short one. Considering the vet wanted to euthanize him at birth, he had a fabulous 2 years with more love than some of us might have in our lifetime.
