She Played The Flute?!
John McCain has just chosen some chick named Sarah Palin as his running mate. She's the governor of Alaska or something like that. I don't know her deal. I think she's anti-anything fun. But that's not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about her beauty pageant past!
Sarah was Miss Wasilla 1984. She won second place in the Miss Alaska contest, but was voted Miss Congeniality. Miss Congeniality basically means you're homely but you smile a lot. Sarah played the flute during the talent portion. THE FLUTE?! It's Alaska! Shouldn't she have skinned a trout or danced with a grizzly bear? No wonder she lost. I did a quick search on YouTube, but couldn't find shit from the pageant. I'm sure shit will come up in the next few days.
And and I thought Heidi Montag was locked as McCain's VP?

Thank you just sayin'. I am still waiting for the qualifications..... I do have views but want to hear good arguments about her, not insults about the other party. I was just watching Fox News, to learn about her and all I got is that she wants to blast alaska to smithereens so that we can get some oil. She says the animals there will survive regardless of the intrusion... Ok.... how? ____________________________________________

Gladyslove to be fair the only thing of substance you said about this woman is that she is attractive. Not qualifications to be a VP. So, I would like to be swayed by your argument... what possibilities does she bring to the ticket?
...nowhere in this questions does it say malign Obama or rant about your own personal views about abortions. Calling someone a baby murdering liberal is not likely to be argument swaying...
would you care to try again in a rational, intelligent tone and position?

@jussayin':
I get it, entirely...you are SO right - we have come so far...
I listened to Obama's speech and it struck me that he's the most charisma I've seen up there in ages. And he hearkened back to dreams we let go of long ago in favour of saving ourselves from whatever crisis (recession, in-house violence, war...) was befalling us next. It just doesn't make sense to me, all these worries, when we are so advanced - I'd like to get back to dreaming, if we could, of something special - ...
Before the politicos start yelling - I will admit I don't know a thing about politics or who is the best man for that job, I just know he spoke to the romantic in me. The part that wishes she didn't wish for an island.

Response to vanyvrgs:
The fact that Sarah Palin is attractive (in my opinion) is not of substance--it is purely a bonus. What she brings of substance to the position of VP and second in command is her character. It is her honest forthright "get it done" attitude that she has demonstrated. It has been on public display since she was the Mayor of Wassilla, then the Ethics Commissioner of Alaska Oil and then as Governor. She is immensely qualified in the things that matter; grit, determination, honesty and integrity. The fact that she is the mother of 5 should please the liberals who always spout that you can have a career and motherhood at the same time. She is FAR more qualified that Obama who is running as the President--what exactly has he ever accomplished except serving as the most liberal-voting Senator in the U.S. for 144 days. I believe he is the worst, most ill-qualified individual this country has EVER had run for our country's highest office.
Hopefully, Sarah Palin will eventually become our first woman president and inspire the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, so every unborn child will be born. There is nothing more holy, more important than the sanctity of life--no matter how liberals try to jusify murdering babies, especially Obama who has stated 3 separate times that he believes in and voted to uphold Infanticide (how can this be) a man with two adorable little girls????
What kind of a human being is Obama? He has no core values--nothing, he is an empty man of average intelligence with no backbone. Listen to him speak, he never, ever commits himself to anything--it is always "on the other hand"
I believe in the basic decency of the human race--that most of us are good and kind and honest.I would also hope that Sarah Palin would uphold the tradition of marriage; between one man and one woman. She will keep our country strong by becoming independent of any foreign energy. We can drill for more oil, we can extract the huge deposits of natural gas off the North Slope of Alaska into the pipeline that is being built in Alaska and ship the gas to the mainland. Natural gas is absolutely clean and can burn in our cars for generations. Finally I believe she has the courage to continue to be the world's peacekeeper, to free the citizens of the world from the Saddam's and the Adloph's.
Whey do I say all of these things about her? Because I know women like her; my grandmother was that type of woman, determined, fierce, protective, smart and sassy. You know who they are, don't you? They are the ones throughout time who have risen to the top because they are intrinsically good and strong and they are the leaders, whether it is the matriarch of a strong family, or finally, finally as the leader of the finest country in world. God bless her!

Funny;p But I get what you mean. There's a wish that everyone would get it; get it that change means changing themselves too and that change requires consistent and conscious application. And then the realizaton that change is SO blocked on so many levels anyway it's hopeless. You don't have the money to get an island so you might as well vote and see what happens. Just like every other day.
PS. I want an island too. But I'd visit often - as long as I could get away...

Obama cares, enough to risk his lives and his families lives. I don't see any hope of change with McCain. Maybe it gets worse before it gets better no matter what we do, but I am trying to keep my little bit of hope alive that there is a slim chance we could all make it better....

But if we want change we need a revolution, not just a new president.
...IF we want change, we need a president who believes in change, AND we have to want and believe in change ourselves. You have to work hard and sacrifice to get the changes that you want. One man is not a revolution, but supporting the one man who cares to make it happen might get the ball rolling.
I really don't believe America wants it...I think most of you are happy paying $4 gas, watching your sons and daughters die in useless wars, not having your children educated properly, having your health needs shitted on regularly, getting jerked over with your taxes and by big businesses, getting happy over a $600 check when the country is trillions of dollars in debt to Russia and China, no less....and all because you fear to lose the status quo.
If people really wanted change they would have stopped voting in the Jesse Helms and Newt Gingrinchesyears ago...they would have stopped voting for Bush....I really think a lot of people take joy in making the world such a miserable ass place to live! Happy to be racist, sexist, act like it's their perogative to tell other people what to do with their own bodies, who to love, etc. etc.
Who doesn't have the common sense to just see how awful this society is becoming? They got you hoodwinked and bamboozeled! Taking your money, taking the land, polluting the earth, and subjugating you and you take it like little punk bitches instead of trying to fight it. Stupid!
If I had Obama's money I WOULDN'T try to help or care about change, I would go buy a plot of land and be a hermit and leave you bitches to destroy yourselves. You can't help those who won't help themselves.

No, I think having a zillion kids is a probability thing. Call me crazy, but I just intuitively feel the medical community is wrong in assuming that being in your 40's and having a baby leads to more chances of birth defects. I've noticed these "studies" always come to the forefront at a time when the country grows more conservative, kinda like trying to emphasize to women that they better hurry up and have babies. Yes, yes, it sounds pretty much like a conspiracy theory, but my practical side tells me this is a fallacy.
interesting I bet it was really the daughter's baby, because of her mother's stance on abortion the girl had no choice

Thank you for responding to my post. If you would like to have an intellectual exchange of thoughts on a current event; such as the naming of Sarah Palin as our next Vice President, I will match my intelligence and knowledge of current events and past history against your limited knowledge anytime. It appears that you have nothing relevent to "bring to the table" except your deep-seated anger and foul mouth to match.
Sayville! That's the name of it. Just mapquested it.
Did anyone also hear that there is a story going around that Palin, while pregnant, broke her water in Texas. She then gets on a plane back to Alaska to give birth to the baby. Some people are saying she was never pregnant and in fact it was her 16 year old daughter who gave birth to the baby. Another interesting fact is that she went back to work 2 days after giving birth. Also her daughter has missed alot of school due to a case of "mono". What I don't get is why is a pregnant woman flying to Texas after her 7th month. AND why did her water breaking in Texas not keep her in Texas to have the baby? I don't know about you guys, but when a lady's water breaks, the first thing you think of is to get to the hospital, not get on a plane. More info later.

Where in God's name did you get I favored McCain, slightly or any other way? Because I didn't call him evil or something? I didn't rip him enough to your liking? I don't favor anyone, however if you must know I will probably vote for Obama, if anything, before yesterday because of McCain's stance on reproductive rights, and today because of his VP choice. My problem with the Obama campain is that I'm dubious of the "change" he preaches. Call me cynical but there it is. I just don't believe any real change can be made. You HAVE to make concessions. I think he'll do a better job than GWB, but I think a retarded spider monkey could probably accomplish that. I never, and still don't think GWB is evil. I actually think he'd be fine to hang out and have a beer with. I just think he's stupid and arrogant. I think you have to be pretty arrogant to think you're able to handle the job of President of the US, but when you're stupid AND arrogant, its a dangerous combination when you have that kind of power. I give Obama credit for not being stupid. And so we're left with this. I just think its sad that we're reduced to such desperation that we just want someone, ANYONE who can properly pronounce "nuclear" in the WH. That's no way to pick a president. But here we are.
Sorry again for ranting. I hate when I do that.
