Oh, Josh Brolin!
In the new issue of W Magazine, Josh Brolin tells us exactly what he thinks of his father. You can smell the Tequila dripping off of his words:
“My dad is probably one of the handsomest guys ever. I was making a joke and I said, ‘If I was a chick, I’d fuck you.’ He was like, ‘You can’t say that! Shut your mouth!’”
This is not something I would ever say to one of my parents, but this is a Hollywood family we're talking about. Imagine the things Papa Joe says to his daughters? Papa Joe's compliments to his girls probably make Josh's quote sound like it came directly from a Christian family movie.
Is he morphing into Norm MacDonald???

Everyone wants to be PC about the victimization of human beings. That's understandable. I can assure you I am not without compassion or empathy.
But we as a society tend to discard the notion that we are ever personally responsible, at least to some degree.
I have personally known two women in physically abusive relationships. The first being a co-worker. She admittedly stayed with him because he was wealthy. They had no children. He finally left her for someone else. The other was my SIL, she stayed in a rather violent situation because she said it was the best sex she ever had. She said she would leave when he hurt her badly enough to send her to the hospital. He did and she did. They both had support and could have left at anytime. It IS frustrating to be an outsider watching, and consoling.
It's debatable whether or not these women had other underlying mental issues. It's also debatable whether or not these were 'stupid' reasons. But to speakit, they were STUPID. If that makes me a cold hearted bitch, well put me on ice.
I KNOW THAT'S NOT ALWAYS THE CASE, but that's the point. Every case is different. I know there are women, and men, who are victims of abuse for the reasons Stock Broker and Mrs. K suggested.
But it's just like I don't always immediately feel sorry for the women crying on the news when their children have been abducted, because sometimes those women leave their small children unattended for hours at a time or leave them in a running vehicles. I feel sorry for the children.
The abuser is to blame. The abductor is to blame. But if someone is stupid enough to set themselves up for it or ALLOW themselves to be victims, then I'm allowed to call them stupid. And I do.
Mrs. Kravitz ~ yea, that too.

Diane is attractive. But there are many women STUCK in situations of abuse, she could get out. So... smart? Not so much. Or she's sick too, which happens in those situations. I just don't buy into the, 'she could have any man' crap.

Obviously it has nothing to do with smartness or intelligence and more to do with fear and self- loathing.
When others say "she could have any man" that's just a way of expressing their frustration and confusion at the situation. Unless you are in that situation it is very difficult to understand the dynamics of a relationship like that.
I am reading a book now called "Drinking: A Love Story" and it explains a lot about addictive and self-destructive behavior.
Now I shall return to minding my own business...but prolly not for long.

Not for a rational, clear thinking person.
Victims of abuse become mentally clouded, and rightly so. Would you disagree?
Speakit ~ I have never understood why anyone would stay in an abusive relationship.
I know plenty of very smart women that stay with jag-off boyfriends or husbands.
For that matter, I know of men that put up with cheating skanks that walk all over them.
In the end, there's no explanation for human behavior.
"stupid reasons" are subjective.

people stay in abusive relationships for many reasons HOWEVER, stupidity is not one of them. That train of thought is ignorant and continues to blame the victim...geezlouise...

SB's point (and mine) was simply that Diane Lane could have any man she wanted, so what compels her to stay with an abuser? No one's implying anyone deserves abuse.
Except those people who let their dogs shit in my yard. But that's another thread.

There is no father/son bonding activity quite like being busted together for methamphetamine.
Ryan O'Neal and son Redmond were booked on suspicion of narcotics possession this morning.
Authorities said they were doing a probation search at the family's Malibu home when they found Redmond O'Neal in possession of methamphetamine and a vial of the drug was allegedly found in Ryan's bedroom.
The father/son are being held on $10,000 bail.
