Maddox's daddy has donated 1 Brangelina dollar to fight the gay marriage ban in California. Oh, 1 Brangelina dollar is 100,000 American dollars. The LA Times reports, that Brad announced he is giving up $100,000 from his own checking account to fight California's Proposition 8, a November ballot measure that would eliminate same-sex couples' right to get married.
Brad said: "Because no one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn't harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8."
So far, Brad's $100,000 donation is the largest to the NO ON PROP 8 campaign by an A-list celebrity. Come on, Tommy Girl! Step it up! And by "step it up" I don't mean get higher lifts.
If Prop 8 passes, that means Ellen and Portia's beautiful gayelle married bliss would be null and void. Don't make the gayelles sad. The world stops turning when lesbians cry.

Anyways, I agree with the poster before who said Brad Pitt is correct in publicizing his support of the ban for proposition 8. In this society, being gay is still looked down upon. Gay people have come a long way in day to day life to be respected, and even in the entertainment field. However, just because they have moved forward doesnt mean they are equal citizens under the law by any means right now. This country has made such a good leap forward by beginning to legalize gay marriage and now all of a sudden its going to be undone. For these reasons right now is such an important and crucial time for people not to be swayed or uninformed about what is about to occur. Just like when after the civil war black people were given 40acres of land, and then had it taken back because it was reversed, the same could happen here if people dont act on it.
To be frank I hadnt even heard about this proposition act, and im sure im not the only one, and had it not been for the fact that Brad Pitts name was publicly attached to this cause/story, it would have never made it to dlisted or other media outlets. If Brad Pitt had contributed anon. like for example funding a commercial, first of not alot of people even watch commercials, and secondly with the backing of a well known heterosexual male, it does give it some backing that you know what its not just gay people who want gay marriage to be possible, but also even those people who arent in that demographic think its a fair thing. Any time you can get someone who isnt within the same community of which is pushing for whatever freedom to support it, it gives it strength because you know they arent just supporting it because there the same people benefitting from it. And I am SO not a brangeloon or even a fan of brads, I think he is a 6 out of 10 acting wise, and looks wise, nothing special, there are zillions of hotter men in nyc alone, so the only reason I support him is because he is bringing awareness to this cause. And because he is a well known A lister supporting for gay rights - and anything gay in hollywood is usually taboo since everyone there is supposedly "straight" - his support of it will say to other stars, hey if I can support a gay right movement so can you without fear of being labeled "gay" just cause you support gay equality.

I think it's courageous of Brad to give $100K, and people need to realize that it's a BIG thing, even though it might be $10 to us, which, let's be honest, some of us wouldn't even give THAT. I'm not purporting to be a hardcore supporter of them, trust, but they have a LOT of expenses with that monster family of theirs. Sacrificing the money they give probably isn't insanely difficult for them but I can't imagine it'd be that easy either. IDK, I've just never seen them as the outrageous conspicuous consumption type, so I can respect the money and dedication (like actually going out and DOING things/alerting people of what's going on outside the US) they give when they do it. Basically, I think Brad/Angie actually do CARE about the causes they choose to support, I don't think they do it solely to appear a certain way in the media, based particularly on the actions that follow. The media blows them up to be gods, I don't think they consider themselves as such.
