The Claymates Speak!
First of all, thanks to those of you who directed me to this Claymates forum where there's hundreds of messages regarding their idol's big coming out party on the cover of People Magazine. It's nice to see that 98% of them are not bothered at all and will continue to worship at his big gay feet. The other 2% are shocked, confused and hurt, because they felt they were lied to. A couple of them are still waiting for "confirmation," because People Magazine could be telling lies. Hey, whatever gets you through the day.
Here's just a few quotes from Claymates who aren't waving rainbow flags this morning:

I would be devastated. I would feel bamboozled and confused. So I can completely relate to the Claymates whose world has just crumbled into a million gay pieces.

Uh...I beg to differ on this. You might want to check out Jason Ricci and his band New Blood. This guy is a powerhouse blues singer, harp player, and out as you can get. NEVER is a pretty big word to back up, just sayin.
ok - I stand corrected, but as a rule, gay artists do not exist in the blues --- it's just not real common

I thought the light of day would make this easier, but instead it has become even more painful. Last night's thoughts of deception have been proven in Clay's own words in the People article. He has know since college he was gay. I would have been a Clay fan no matter what his sexual orientation was but I certainly would not have had a sexual attraction to a gay man and I would not have stood toe to toe with anyone who insinuated that he was not what he proclaimed to be. That's the catch -- deception. I abhor dishonesty and he was dishonest and dishonorable with us. I will continue to be a fan of Clay's voice and his talent as an entertainer. Clay as a person has lost my respect and admiration. While in the future I may buy one CD, I will never again buy seven or eight so Clay can get higher sales. I will go back to donating to my favorite charities and donate there rather than the charities that Clay has asked us to support. I intend to reclaim my heart, which I gave to a young man with a talent as big as the sky and which I feel he has mightly abused. I do not hate Clay as I do not believe in hatred. But I am sure mighty angry and feel more betrayed than I ever thought possible.
