In The Mood For A Little Chichi Milk Ice Cream?
You're probably sitting at your desk and enjoying a delicious frozen ice creamtreat, but did you know that you're slowly poisoning yourself by ingesting all that cow milk?! And you're also forcing our cow friends to get knocked up every nine months. Well, that's what Peta claims anyway. They sent off a letter to Ben & Jerry's asking them to stop using cow milk and to use breast milk instead. They got the ingenious idea from a restaurant in Switzerland who is using titty leche in their soups, stews and sauces.
Unfortunately, Ben & Jerry's isn't taking their advice. They issued this response to Peta: "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."
Maybe Peta should give it a second thought. Think of all the money they would save! I mean, they could ask Aretha Franklin to get pregnant only once. She would squirt out enough titty juice to last the rest of our days.
I also think Ben & Jerry's should take it a step further and think about the defenseless cherries and cocoa beans they are harming. They didn't ask to be eaten for our enjoyment! Ben & Jerry's can still make flavors like Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Sweet Cream & Cookies and Bananas on the Rum using substances our bodies naturally produce. Use your nasty imagination. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a date with my toilet.

My husband and I have a friend who, 7 years ago was nursing her then 2 year old, she continued nursing him and the next baby born 2 years later, using her "extra" milk as milk for cereals and drinking milk for her and her husband. Last I heard, the now 8 year old and the 5 year old STILL occassionally nurse.
THAT is taking it too far IMO.
I am totally pro brestfeeding, but that is ridiculous.

I totally agree. I think genes determine a LOT. Like more than we realize.
Rotten-egg, the research I was referring to in regards to milk and cancer was done with diets of 10% protein coming from animal sources. The average American (or other people with a "western" diet) is way above that, so moderation really isn't a factor unless you're down to a bite of animal product once in a while, which really isn't how it's usually done. If there's anything anyone should be "extremist" about I would think the fact that the general public is fed a bunch of lies regarding nutrition, at the sake of their health, should be one of them. The reality is we have more cancer and heart disease, and diabetes than ever before. Brushing off the importance of good nutrition and believing everything you see on commercials and in mass-market magazines is what got us to this point in the first place. It IS time people got wise about how important nutrition is to our health.

I had a grandmother that smoked like a chimney, drank like a fish, but did she die of cancer? No, she dies of old age.
Mrs. Kravitz...Me, too! But I like not having cancer more than I like the convenience of being able to pop into a Baskin Robbins (The heir to the Baskin Robbin's fortune is anti-dairy, by the way). I really don't miss out, though. I make my own ice cream using either frozen bananas and walnuts with a little rice or almond milk (a favorite) or you can make any ice cream recipe using Mimicreme (made with almonds and chashews ansd the stuff make skiller vegan alfredo sauce, too, I've just discovered). I also occasionally pick up Trader Joe's Vanilla Cherry Chip soy ice cream or Tofutti ice cream sandwiches (in a billion flavors). I do not feel deprived in the ice cream department!
I don't know if it's more ridiculous that PETA makes these silly requests or that some people really don't see the comparison. It absolutely is more "natural" to eat foods made from human milk than it is to eat food made from cow or goat milk. We've juswt been conditioned to think otherwise.
I went out to lunch today and only ate half of a sandwich.

What I want to know is why raw milk is illegal in NY, (because it might make people sick) but they allow pus and hormones and irradiation in mass-produced milk. You can purchase raw milk straight from the farm, or belong to a cow-share, but that is so ridiculous. Raw milk producers are scrupulous about the integrity of their product.
Humans are perfectly suited to drink cow's milk! (and goats and sheep, too) Some people, like Asians are lactose intolerant, and that's because historically they didn't consume dairy, so they should stay away from it. But if your ancestors were big dairy consumers, it's cool. My father grew up on a farm in Europe and drank fresh warm raw milk every day. He has perfectly straight teeth and never had a cavity until he was in his 30's. (His town didn't have a dentist, but if it was an emergency, the doctor could pull a bad tooth with some pliers)
I was able to buy raw milk at Whole Foods in Maine, and it's nothing like the crap you buy in the supermarket. It was delicious.
Don't be extremist. Humans have been eating other animals and animal products for thousands of years. Cancer is not a simple disease. If you smoke, for example, it doesn't mean you WILL get cancer. You can smoke for years and years and don't even get cancer. Same with milk. You can drink milk for years, but that doesn't mean you will get cancer. Same with everything else. Modern humans have forgotten what MODERATION is, I think. Anyway, carry on. I just don't like that extremist stuff you read everywhere who's only purpose is to spread terror and ignorance.
