Tina Fey Is Back For More
Tina Fey once again put on a pair of rimless glasses to play the hockey mom from Alaska Sarah Palin on last night's SNL. This time, Amy Poehler played the blink-happy and glossy-lipped Katie Couric. I didn't realize how blinky Katie was during the Palin interview until Amy pointed it out last night. Seriously. Katie needs to bathe her eyeballs in Visine. And when is Amy going to play Cindy McCain already?! She can hide her baby bump with a medicine cabinet. I'm waaaitttting...
Above is the always amazing Tina Fey once again stealing the show. Although, that's not hard to do. The rest of SNL was....well.....I already blacked it out.
Oh and Bono IS the King of Ireland!

Hell, maybe she WAS the best choice for their state (although I doubt it) -- doesn't mean she's the best choice for VP! There is a long, looooooooooong way between being qualified to be the governor of 600,000 people versus being qualified to be the Vice President (and possibly President) of more than 300,000,000.
The scary part is Tina Fey didn't really have to change Palin's original answers very much. Think about that.

Guess again "smart" woman. She's a cipher. She was picked because she's an attractive woman, and nothing else. She can wear a designer dress. The debate will prove only that she can memorize flash cards and trot out tired phrases and look relatively good doing it. She cannot think on her feet, and the debates will expose that. She has given 3 - THREE - interviews since she was announced as VP candidate. Inexcusable. She has zero foreign policy experience. If I hear "stood up to the good ol' boys" one more time I think I'll puke. And if she continues to call McCain a Maverick. then I'll just have to call her Goose. And just like Goose in the movie, Palin is gonna go down in flames. She is a sacrificial lamb picked as a last resort by a desperate Republican party. Riddle me this: if she's such a mover and a shaker, why had no one outside of Alaska ever heard of her?

That was a very funny skit, but that's all it is. I think Sarah Palin will prove herself in the VP debate. You don't become a governor of a state if you're stupid or have zero instincts. She got the votes to win her state, - no matter how few people live there. Tina Fey is as brilliant this week as she was the first time. Unfortunately, all she had to do was revise a few lines and embellish the rest. Her mannerisms and dialect are perfect. And kudos to the wardrobe staff, stylists, and lighting crew for making this look amazingly accurate. I can't wait for next Saturday.
As for the political back-and-forth going on in the thread, my view's always been this: The one who escalates any discussion with name-calling, ad hominem arguments, bigoted remarks, or tossing in unnecessary ugly ephithets that would probably get you dragged in to see your HR rep if you used them at work, is the person who immediately loses any credibility or respect with me. And it ends the discussion right away -- he or she can twist in the wind, shrieking to no one.
And unfortunately, there's always someone in a thread who's more than willing to take that role. Always.
