Tina Fey Is Back For More
Tina Fey once again put on a pair of rimless glasses to play the hockey mom from Alaska Sarah Palin on last night's SNL. This time, Amy Poehler played the blink-happy and glossy-lipped Katie Couric. I didn't realize how blinky Katie was during the Palin interview until Amy pointed it out last night. Seriously. Katie needs to bathe her eyeballs in Visine. And when is Amy going to play Cindy McCain already?! She can hide her baby bump with a medicine cabinet. I'm waaaitttting...
Above is the always amazing Tina Fey once again stealing the show. Although, that's not hard to do. The rest of SNL was....well.....I already blacked it out.
Oh and Bono IS the King of Ireland!

Wouldn't a JOE BIDEN skit be a lot funnier?
Um, the guy, who is ALSO running for VP, actually said after the stock market crash in 1929, Roosevelt went on TV to speak to the public!
THERE WAS NO TV IN PEOPLE'S LIVING ROOMS IN 1929 AND HOOVER WAS THE PRESIDENT!
But you don't see the asshole liberals make fun of THAT now do you LOL!
If McCain said that, he'd be called senile, etc.
How stupid CAN liberals get, anyway?

Uh oh...does that make me a Socialist?!?!

Another point: Obama, McCain, Palin, and Biden are all rich. The Obama/Biden ticket wants to raise taxes on the rich -- meaning they'll both be paying more taxes. The McCain/Palin ticket wants to cut its own taxes. Now, which ones are the whiny crybabies again? "Waaaahhh, my taxes went up 4 percent, I'm going to have to sell my 7th house!"
Tina Fey is so cute as Palin I want to put her in my pocket. Her accent is sorta off, but she's still SO funny! The King of Ireland is BONO!!!! Hahahahahha!

Nice way to twist words. I specifically said unless you're the sperm donor...
And that's a gray area. A rapist should not have a say in if the result of his crime gets to come to term as a child. Neither should a dad who molests his daughter. A boyfriend, husband who had consensual sex gets a more credit in my opinion, but there are still gray areas. I can see that devolving into a Middle East type of rule that would put women's lives in the hands of men and I'm not crazy about that.
As far as who decides it's life and not a zyogte - well, that would be science, but since we're seemingly trying to overturn that separation of church and state thing, I suppose pretty soon we'll have to consult God (as in the Jerry Falwell interpreted God who's anointed the GOP as his disciples, not the forgiving one who says to leave judging and stuff like that to him).
So you know, there's a huge difference in pro-choice and pro-abortion. I don't like seeing abortion used as birth control. But even more, I don't like the government telling someone what they can or cannot do with their body. I don't like anal sex either, but hey! no pregnancy risks there, and if that's what you want to do with your body, you should have the right.
Alien in da house.

Here's the thing - most people who make over $250K/year aren't doing so by climbing the corporate ladder. It's from inheritances, investments, businesses they own, properties and a diverse set of sources that most middle class people don't have.
Within that diversity come a lot of breaks. I own a small corporation - small being me and a few freelancers. My company is given far more breaks than an individual would get. If you have a bad year, you don't get to carry losses over. If I have a bad quarter, my company (and thousands of others) does. I stopped investing in stocks a while back, but had I continued, those investments (and returns) are taxed at a different rate than personal income. Own a property and rent it out? Much lower tax rate.
My point is, people who are successful as you refer to it, are already well diversified so that an increase on their personal income really wouldn't affect their lifestyle or ability to make more money. I don't actually disagree with your point that it's not completely fair, but 45% to someone worth $3million is going to effect them far less than someone making $30K/year

Well now that the true colors of our special guest today have been exposed, I can now make a conclusion that:
1. This is the type of rhetoric and defensive behavior of some of the GOP that I have based my choice on, not McMaverick, some of his supporters "beliefs".
2. They are sneaky like that, all patriotic then BAM, the truth and motivations come to surface.
3. Malicious and presumptive ideologies like the ones displayed here today by one individual who is supporting the GOP this time around only goes to show, it takes little prejudice to believe in something, it takes real faith to see it through.

Way to dodge the question! Truly Bush-esque in quality.
Submitted by Fandango on September 28, 2008 - 4:13pm
Do you not realize that a large part of the reason the economy is in the crapper is because Bush CUT taxes while we were in a war (which had NEVER been done in the entire history of the U.S.)? Everybody gets a tax cut, the missing money has to come from somewhere. Who do you think is paying the $12B a month for this war? If taxes are cut, we're just going to go into more debt for the war, which will further devalue the dollar and eventually turn us into a third-world nation.
Although I guess if nobody can get an abortion, there will be a lot more kids and grandkids to pay the bill... or work as slaves when the Chinese and Russians move in, either way.
And I don't know where you are getting your 45% figure, but Obama's tax increase is nothing near that -- and I don't have much of a problem with people earning $250K + per year paying more in taxes than I do. It seems that many successful people (Bill Gates, Warren Buffett) enjoy spreading their wealth around. I guess the greedy motherfuckers would disagree.

You didn't answer the rape/incest scenario. Not as simple as "letting some loser blast off inside you without being on the pill." Happens more often than you think.
And just because you happen to think abortion is an "abomination" doesn't mean it should be illegal! I think teenagers having kids they can't afford to support is an abomination. Other people probably do too. Does that mean I get to outlaw it?
Pro-lifers should "have things their way" for a while? They DID! For the 200 years before Roe v. Wade was handed down! Do you know how many abortions there were back then? A lot!

I'll be the liberal elitist militant pro-choicer here. Unless you're the sperm donor, why should you get to decide what a woman does with her body? I don't care if that woman is happily married and just doesn't want a child, who are you to tell her she has to have that child if she and her husband decide they don't have the means or will to support a child?
And there are all kinds of non-whore reasons for that. What if she was on the pill and she's one of the 5% who it doesn't work for? Maybe her husband's out of work and she's working part time at Walmart and wouldn't be able to afford a child without government assistance, and would prefer to wait until they have a more stable life. Or, what if it's one of your dreaded welfare queens? Still opposed if the woman making the decision is an immigrant working a $5/hour job?
So yeah, let's expand the government to legislate what women have to do with their bodies, and make sure to remove any government support for those children along the way. Brilliant"
Having a law the outlaws a certain medical procedure is not "expanding government."
Setting up state run clinics to perform abortions is "expanding government."
And to address your first point: well, who is anybody to tell anybody anything? Who are YOU to tell somebody they can't kill their toddlers? Those toddlers can't feed themselves. Why not just expand abortion to include infants and toddlers too? Why not have a law that says you can put a kid in a room and if the kid can't get out and feed him or herself and the kid dies, no problem?
Who decides when it's "life" and when it's merely a "biological process?"
women get to decide that? What about the sperm donor? He gets no say?
You seriously don't get it, do you? Not all abortions are a result of an "opps". Women get raped, women are the victim of incest. I frankly don't care if someone else thinks getting rid of some cells is murder. It's MY BODY. It doesn't affect these people in the slightest.
Not being able to defecate in the street is not even close to being forced to raise a child for the next 20+ years.

You don't think you're ALREADY being told what you can and cannot do with your body?
Go try to take a shit in the middle of the street and see how much freedom you have. Go walk around naked and see how much freedom you have.
You're invoking Nazi Germany? Why not invoke you socialist utopias in Scandinavia where they performed forced abortions on the mentally ill and brown people?
You can do whatever you want with your body until it infringes on somebody else, right? Well, some people think that's a person in there when you get knocked up.
If you don't want an abortion, don't let some loser blast off inside you without being on the pill. Sounds simple I know but some people are morons.

No I'm not. I don't care how they got successful; they shouldn't be hit with a ton more taxes just because they're rich. If you got rich, would want to pay 45% taxes? I think not.

Also, it is quite easy for the President or Vice President to overturn Roe v. Wade. The 4 youngest and newest Supreme Court justices, including the Chief Justice, are all VERY conservative, and most have stated that they would like to overturn Roe v. Wade. McCain has said this as well. As soon as one of the older one dies and he appoints another conservative, it's gone. If McCain should kick it or pull a Reagan, Palin is likely to appoint someone who will make Scalia look like Ted Kennedy."
Those are a lot of "ifs" in your scenario.
And so the fukk what? People who are totally against abortion have had to live with abortion--which to them is straight up murder- going on all these years in their commnities. Maybe it's time they got things their way for awhile.
From my perspective Roe v. Wade is a legal abomination, the truest example of judicial activism. I don't what it's about. Libs don't care as long as the activism is going the way they want it to. If a conservative SCOTUS started legislating from the bench, we'd hear all kinds of wailing from the libs just like we hear from the right over Roe.
double fukken standard much?
We should not want judges legislating from the bench AT ALL, PERIOD, I don't care it's about. Liberals seem to feel real good about life tenuers jerkoffs making law. Talk about ignorant of political theory.
You're assuming successful people always "work their asses off" to get where they are.
I think you will find that most people who are "successful" have not gotten that way by being the most moral people...
You don't think the dude cleaning toilets for $6/hr works his ass off? Sometimes people are victims of circumstance and need a little help. I'm not going to turn my back on someone like that.
Hi, the government can and does make laws that infringe on how people are able to live their lives. Case in point: the amendment to the Constitution that some homophobes want to put in place that makes marriage only between a man and a woman. Case in point: legislation that people are trying to push through that allows birth control to be classifed as a form of abortion, ergo allowing dr's/pharmacists who are anti-choice
to refuse to do their jobs. There are so many examples. SO many.
Why are you so filled w. rage? That's what I would like to know.
Tuna> Well, honestly, I think that they chose to focus on the Republican candidates b/c there is just so much material right now. I don't mind if they want to do some satire on Obama, but I don't think there's much to satire at present.
