Tina Fey Is Back For More
Tina Fey once again put on a pair of rimless glasses to play the hockey mom from Alaska Sarah Palin on last night's SNL. This time, Amy Poehler played the blink-happy and glossy-lipped Katie Couric. I didn't realize how blinky Katie was during the Palin interview until Amy pointed it out last night. Seriously. Katie needs to bathe her eyeballs in Visine. And when is Amy going to play Cindy McCain already?! She can hide her baby bump with a medicine cabinet. I'm waaaitttting...
Above is the always amazing Tina Fey once again stealing the show. Although, that's not hard to do. The rest of SNL was....well.....I already blacked it out.
Oh and Bono IS the King of Ireland!

that's right, Amurkka's #1 drinkin buddy.
Not to mention his grand leadership skills in appointing financial leaders and advisers who couldn't guess at what happens when a bubble bursts. The people who lead these industries are ALL appointed by the President, not the people.

This has everything to do with the current administration's policies and incompetence, as well as greed from consumers. I don't think the Democrats are not off the hook, and there should have been alarms sounded before this could happen. However to absolve Bush is just ignorant.
"I don't like ANY of them but don't act like the Dems are the saviors coming in to fix everything."
You definitely seem to lean far right. I think that whoever makes it into office in November is going to have a tough road ahead - VERY tough. I don't think Obama is a savior, but based on who he's surrounding himself with I have more confidence in the team he's building than the MILF ticket and Rove neocons McCain's bringing along for the ride.
I feel for McCain, he's old, and he's doing whatever he can to win - because for him it's been a while coming. But in his ambition he's standing on the shoulders of a lot of the same abortion poster children who are responsible for screwing the country in the ass now.

What about people who were raped? Or victims or incest? You're assuming all unwanted pregnancies were somehow the woman's fault. No one here is a "militant pro-choicer" who thinks that all women should be going out and getting knocked up just for the fun of getting an abortion. But we are not in favor of forcing women to pay for their own rape kits or to give birth to something that a criminal put inside them. There's a bit of a difference.
Also, it is quite easy for the President or Vice President to overturn Roe v. Wade. The 4 youngest and newest Supreme Court justices, including the Chief Justice, are all VERY conservative, and most have stated that they would like to overturn Roe v. Wade. McCain has said this as well. As soon as one of the older one dies and he appoints another conservative, it's gone. If McCain should kick it or pull a Reagan, Palin is likely to appoint someone who will make Scalia look like Ted Kennedy.

And Palin is SELF SUFFICIENT because she isn't looking to government to protect her like a little fukken pansy. If she gets knocked up, she's having the fukken kid. Less than 5 years ago, sodomy was still illegal in a number of states. The police could come in your home, catch you having gay sex, and throw you in jail. That wasn't overturned by the Supreme Court until Lawrence v. Texas in 2003.
That's just ONE example of Republicans being all up in your business. They have also tried to prevent contraception from being sold to married couples, and then single women, continually try to prevent ANYONE from getting an abortion, et. al.
Don't even pretend your argument about the Republicans being for "choice" in anything is based in any sort of truth or rational thought!

She already stated she believes Roe vs. Wade should be over turned and would support it and help it if they came into office.
Any woman that can sit on TV and say "I support life" after being asked if rape victims and incest victims were to get pregnant as a result of such depraved and violent acts, is not someone who has a room to expand her very narrow views.
So, yea, she would try and expel her "beliefs".
So tell me, how would the vice president go about oveturning Roe v. Wade? I'll answer for you: the vice president can't.
And so the fukk what if that's what she thinks? Maybe she thinks YOU'RE full of shit. So the fukk what? She either locksteps in with every single issue you have or she's evil? Fukk that.

2 issues -- the Republicans were in charge in the White House AND Congress for the past 6 years. The Democrats controlled Congress for the past 2. Not quite sure how that translates into "the Democrats are ruining this country," as this recession has been coming since long before the Democrats took Congress.
Second, failing to see how 5-state-colleges-for-a-B.A. Palin is somehow more "self-sufficient" than Obama, who was raised by a single mother and went on to attend such shitholes as Harvard and Columbia, entirely on his own merit. Oh, wait, that's probably "affirmative action" or something, right? But wait -- that applies to women too!
She's self-sufficient? Is that why she has handlers and won't take any press and has to cram for interviews and still doesn't make any sense? She certainly wasn't self-sufficient as a governor when she lobbied for all those earmarks!
I think it's hilarious that you consider liberals to be whiny considering how much the right is whining about the awful, awful treatment Palin is getting...you know, the same treatment EVERY public figure receives?
Social programs allow people to get ahead. There's no shame in them. I think of it as a hand-up, not a hand-out, as long as people aren't taking advantage. If you've ever received grants for higher education, you've benefited from social programs. I would much rather my tax dollars help someone who needs it then to go toward a wrong-headed "war".
tuna> So I guess you missed the impressions of Bill and Hillary? Lorne Michaels donated to McCain's campaign and one of the head writers on SNL is a Republican, so please.

How do you look at the fuck ups of the past 8 years and want to continue in that path? I'm socially liberal, and financially conservative and the Republicans have done more to piss away money than any of the Democratic social programs. This is much less painful to watch than the real Palin because here we know "Palin" and everyone around her is completely aware of her shortcomings and it's amusing. In the real interviews she speaks of everything in general, with strong opinions to overcompensate for lack of true knowledge and there are still people around her defending her right to be VP. Man, I'm not saying she hasn't accomplished anything. She has, but she's not at the level of VP. Not only lack of experience but more importantly, lack of political awareness. Agreed! You're going to be hard-put to find anyone born after 1940 who didn't at least experiment with drugs in their youth, especially those who came of age in the 1960s and 1970s. If it wasn't a full-fledged habit, i.e. experimentation only, didn't continue past college, and the candidate has been otherwise law-abiding, it's really not a big deal these days.

Evilshoe> That second video...I seriously doubt it exists, and if it does perhaps it wasn't said in a positive way, just a realistic "This is going to happen" way, since Islam is the fastest growing religion right now. I would want to know the context it was said in. I know people who have worked w. Obama on his campaign...as in, actually met and talked w. him & how they describe his personality and how genuine he was just doesn't mesh with things like that. The first video seems more believable...and I can't say I wouldn't agree w. him in some respects, IF he did indeed say those things.
I had actually never heard of Obama before he started running and during the primaries I voted 3rd party b/c 1. I don't like Hillary and 2. I felt I didn't know enough about/hadn't been paying enough attention to vote for Obama. However, since then...after doing a lot of reading and a lot of listening, I've taken a liking to the guy.
What we have right now just isn't working. McCain has been in Washington for like 30 years now, but now (after voting w. W. 90% of the time), he decides he's a Maverick and he's going to take on the "old boys" in D.C. Why did he wait 30 years?! I really do think we need someone who is going to try something different; this country is broken.
As for the church thing, I really don't know enough about that to form an opinion either way. I can say that I used to attend a church as a youngster that was sort of like Sarah Palin's church without the speaking in tongues and rolling on the floor. I no longer believe any of the stuff that church taught (and I only believed the things I did for a very, very short time...yet I went there for about 10 yrs). They hate gay people and think rock music is from the devil and that women should be forced to bear all children they are impregnated with. I would die from embarrassment if someone tried to connect me w. that church now!
