If we're judging and condemning people based upon with whom they associate, well, I will have a fucking field day with the right. Jack Abramoff? Kenneth Lay? Bandar "Bush" Bin Laden? Mobutu? The list goes on...

Today I wrote a letter to the editor of my (very conservative) hometown paper on the topic of Obama NOT being a Muslim. Hopefully it gets published, although I'm not holding my breath :)

Look bitches, I'm black and I'm not voting for Obama based on race. If that were the case, do you think I would fucking vote for FLAVOR FLAV if he were running? Come the fuck on! If Obama were white or Asian or Hispanic and still stood for the same ideologies, I would still vote for him. It's the 21st century and still people's thinking hasn't changed since the 15th century. Oh, and by the way. Take an anthropology class, because maybe then some of you will learn that RACE is a SOCIAL CONSTRUCT that formulated during the time of colonialization. Race does not exist! I'm so sick of hearing about Rev. Wright. You know what? Obama may have attended a church where the pastor made some comments (and how often has he made the comments? We don't know!), but Palin and McCain are using thinly veiled racist comments THEMSELVES. i.e. - the reference last night to Obama as "that one", McCain's condescending remark to the black man who asked the question about the housing crises...about how he probably had never even heard of Freddie Mac, etc. until now; Palin talking about how Obama "isn't like us". Who is "us"?
So tell me, what is worse...being aquainted w. someone who makes racist remarks or MAKING THE REMARKS YOURSELF?! And, yeah, they are veiled remarks, but they're there all the same. It's not like they can come out & blatantly say things.
I hate to play the race card, but it's SO obvious to me that this is what's going on.

Wow! That is the first time that I have ever seen Sherri riled up on the View. And that is how Elizabeth acts up on an all-too frequent basis. Then she turns around gets shocked about Sherri's reaction -- but she is too stupid to realize that is how she comes across all the time.

I feel bad that you took the time to type all of that, but I'm too lazy to read it.

I think one thing that many Americans forget is that many Blacks within the US were oppressed for over 300 years. This includes being lynched, burned alive, drowned, raped, sodomized, having your children raped, abandoned, kidnapped, beat mercilessly and forced into rugged hard labor w/o pay. African-Americans were NEVER apologized to and the situations, racism and slavery, aftermath has never fully been rectified. So not only have our ancestors gone through this, but certain people have the audacity to carry on their stereotypes and prejudices (then deny that it is, precisely what it is). No one accepts blame...Yea, your ancestors did it, not you, but..what have you carried on in their stead - what do you hold high that to you might believe a value.. but, to other minorities is plain racist and elitist. Hatred isn't something you are born with its taught and learned...I think in America people of the majority need to begin to be begrudgingly honest with who they really are and how they really feel. Hasslebeotch is just comfortable with it b/c she's found a monetarily pleasing nitch where she feels comfortable to spew her narrow minded, and racist views. Now, I don't agree with how Reverend Wright went about speaking his mind - but people, please look inside yourself and beyond your own experiences and think about how this man came to whatever jibber jabber he spat out. This man grew up in times where he was considered subhuman and has seen pivotal moments in history as it pertains to civil rights...this man more then not probably has been the victim of racism, stereotypes and stigmas for the majority of his life... Blacks/WE are disenfranchised , but what boggles the logical mind is how a subset of people refuse to recognize the part they play in oppressing minorities. I do not agree with his remarks but honestly take a look at your ethnic backgrounds position in this country then take a look at what you have heard over your lifetime in reference to them. It makes me sad for many people of varying races when you fail to recognize that there is an oppressive majority in this country. But ultimately I hope we can all understand one another some day b/c conversely there are some that believe in unity and that respect others differences...not "tolerate". And just to be clear in my reference.. I say "tolerate" bc it was something Sarah (F)alin kept saying the other night... we need to understand one another not tolerate...tolerate is something you do when a little annoying brother or sister is bothering you while you're on the phone or watching your favorite show and don't want to be bothered...that type of "tolerance" is not one you need or should want to be applied to someone making the laws of who you can marry or love if you're gay or b/c of the color if you skin. Her "tolerating" your differences minimizes you and your importance as a person, and we all deserve more than that. First, I don't believe a Liberal Democrat would really switch parties. Liberal Democrats WOULD NEVER vote Republican.

Second, I supported Hillary Clinton, but I am a Liberal Democrat & will support Obama/Biden. My support of the Democratic Party is because I believe in equality & opportunity for all citizens. I'm also very pro-choice. This election is important to me because the new President may have to elect a new Supreme Court Justice! This scares me. I believe in the right to privacy. I don't care what you do in your home as long as it doesn't hurt me or others.

Third, I'm not black. I'm Asian, but I can understand what Whoopi/Sherri are saying when they refer to the "black defense."
I know its frustrating for you and others to keep hearing about racism, but it does still exist in this country. I'm not making excuses for Rev.Wright. I think racism is racism! I don't care if a minority is making a racist statement. It's racist. I grew up in VA. I was called names, beaten up and spit on by others because of my race. I can understand the anger, BUT the anger should not allow anyone of any color to spew racism. I don't know Rev. Wrights history. I'm sure when he was younger he experienced A LOT of racism. I know you're saying to yourself, "well, I didn't do anything personally to this man." Why should he blame an entire race?
Rev. Wright's statement was Racist. I think we can agree on that. However, I don't know where his anger comes from.
The 1st Amendment allows everyone the right to believe in what you want, but it doesn't mean you have to agree.

As far as the posters who are trying to dismiss the Rev Wright connection (along with Whoopie and Sherri, who use the black defense, which makes me sick) it is not an issue that is dead. It is still KEY to a lot of voters, myself included. If this candidat indeed listened to a racist, anti-American, anti-Jewish radical for 20 years then I don't feel comfortable electing him as our leader. It goes beyond having a name similar to the world's most disgusting terrorist. It has to do with courage and standing up for what is right. This man WOULD NOT turn against Rev Wright when the scandal broke, claiming the man to be like a second father to him, but then uttering in the same breath that the man had no influence over him. If he cannot stand up to one racist, hate spewing man, how in the hell can he stand up to terrorists threatening to attack our country?

I used to be a liberal democrat, but this election has changed my views enormously. let me tell y'all a true story..

My husband worked with a guy for all intensive purposes was a family guy for a number of years. Company had over 1000 employees and publicly traded. Married, three kids, involved in his church and the community. I knew both he and his wife from company events. Coached youth sports, etc Both came off as terrific people.

One day, we open the paper and the story is about how the husband bludgeoned the wife and was caught dumping her body. All because she was planning on leaving him because she was bored.

So.... if either my husband or i ever run for office I'm quite confident that someone as self righteous as Elizabitch would have a field day for our known association with a murderer.

4. End the war in Iraq & go where we really should have gone in the first place. That's a ton of savings right there.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck is very ill-informed.
William Ayers was angry at the government during the Vietnam War. He was against the war & was labeled a "terrorist" because his organization was blowing up buildings NOT people. Let's get that straight. There are a lot of people who have "pasts" & I cannot speak for what happened during that time. I wasn't even born. That happened many years ago. The Vietnam War was protested passionately by a lot of people.
I think it's really unfair to keep calling this man a "terrorist" after he has changed his life. It's the same as a person who has changed his life after serving time in prison.

Also, I don't think being a Muslim makes a person a "terrorist." I think it's really ignorant to assume that a Muslim or person born in the Middle East is evil.
