Mayhem On The View!
It's a new day, which means the cuckoo hens on "The View" have gone crazy again. This morning, they all started talking about how the presidential campaign has gotten so dirty and the past keeps being brought up...blah...blah...blah... It was all pretty normal until Elisabeth Hasselbeck called Rev. Wright a "hate monger." I'm not really sure what they said after that, because I immediately went to my kitchen to pop some popcorn and grab a Diet Rite. When I got back, Sherri was losing her piss on Elisabeth! Barbara finally stepped in and told them all to shut the fuck up. Instead of listening to her den memaw, Elisabeth kept on, kept on. They need to give these bitches their own channel!
The only thing that pissed me off is when they went to commercial, they came back and talked about "Dancing with the Has-Beens" instead of showing an oil wrestling match between Sherri and Elisabeth.

I by no means agree with alot of what Elizabeth has said in the past but I mean she has a RIGHT to her opinion does she not??? The way the ladies attack her and talk over her and never let her speak is a typical subhuman behavior of "ganging" up on someone, which is extremely childish and immature. They should be able to state their opinions and debate it like adults. I mean it's really disgusting and I honestly give Elizabeth props for sitting up there and having to defend herself every single day.
justaguest> Thank you for sending that letter. I feel like more people need to speak up...b/c honestly, saying things like what Palin said is akin to yelling "fire" in a theater. You don't go accusing someone of being a terrorist or fraternizing w. terrorists when you have more than your fair share of racists as your followers. That's just asking for trouble.
The Ayers thing is ridiculous. I have worked w. some real jerks in my lifetime, people who have probably done some really awful things...would it really be fair if I were running for public office to bring up that I once worked w. these people? How is that at all relavent? It's just silly and people like Hasselbeck need to stop bringing it up like they found the Golden Ticket. There's nothing there! It should be a non-issue.
As for Hasselbeck, she's annoying, and not just b/c I disagree w. her. Her whole personality grates. But then again, I hate how they ALL screetch about stuff. How do they ever have an actual discussion??
Re: the debates tonight: how in the world is McCain going to sit there 6 feet from Obama and not look all i'm-gonna-go-postal? This should be amusing.
Wow. Watching this gives me a headache. Come to think of it, anytime I watch even a clip of this show I need to change the channel immediately! All they do is yell and talk over one another. This show is awful!

thanks Mopa!
Actually, I've already sent in my ballot...yeah 'bama! I think they only count us overseas peeps if needed! Boo!
Arrrrgh I meant to hit "post" and hit "more information about formatting options" instead! Dammit!
Anyway, about the Rev. Wright deal, from what I understand, the Repubs had culled about 5 minutes of controversial footage out of 6 months' worth of sermons, and this is what they put forth as 'typical' of his speeches. I think this was eventually mentioned (although not attributed to Republicans) and that is one reason it died down.
This, from the same party who made survey calls in 2000 asking things like, "Would it affect your vote if you found out that John McCain fathered an illegitimate black child?" (referring to his Bangladeshi daughter). About like the Obama/Muslim rumors, but not as widespread.
Yep, those Republicans are sure masters of the no-spin zone! I wonder how some people can sleep at night. Get enough racists riled up and you can accomplish just about anything, it seems...
ocd can be good said:
"By the way, Justaguest? Have you read Bill Ayres book? He takes full account for what he did when he was a student with the SDS and the Weathermen as did his wife. His book came out at the same time as the 9/11 events so it really gave him pause to reflect".
No, I haven't. However, I am probably one of the older posters here and in the late 60's I was in my late teens and remember what the country was like back then. I lived in Chicago, remember the 1968 convention. I remember how many people felt about the Vietnam War, I remember the draft and how people like George W Bush and the likes of Dick Cheney managed not to have to serve over in Viet Nam, unlike so many that didn't have the money or connections.
I know of where Ayer's rage came from. I am not condoning it, but I know where it came from.
Forty years is an eon in someone's short life. We all change, our views change, life experiences make us change. Bill Ayer's changed. Obama was 8 years old when the Weathermen stuff went down, and he should be held responsible for what someone he kind of knows did?
I am pretty sure, not certain, but pretty sure Timothy McVeigh probably leaned right of center, perhaps even voted for a Republican or two. Here is a true home-grown terrorist that killed many people including children. Funny, the Republicans don't want to mention someone that shared many of their views actually detonated the bomb. They want to talk about home-grown terrorists, perhaps Tim McVeigh's name should enter the discussion. But then I suppose, they would try to link Obama to him too.
I fear right-wing extremists much more than the most liberal of liberals.
Clarisse, Oh, we're good to go then! NO Hammocks! I'm looking forward to this trip/life change/escape! I can rock board shorts and no shirt without making small children run in abject fear! Need to tan tho. I'm looking forward to you prancing on La Playa in a 'kini! I've got to head out for some small matters of business. Been nice! Later Listers!

OMG! Sherri is a nutty douche! What's up with the crazy head and neck movements? Why can't any of these twits get their point across without screaming over each other? Shame on Barbara that old bat, she's just as bad as the rest. Constantly cutting Elizabeth off mid sentence! It sucks that Elizabeth has to defend her views to a majority panel of liberals. No wonder the girl has to get loud - these hens are ridiculous with their defense. No one wants to hear shit about Obama and that's the bottom line. Everyone has their mind already made up - so why not drop the conversation. None of them will get the other to change their views! BY the way, I have to disagree with Barbara referring to any of them as "intelligent women". Joy needs to shut the fuck up - constantly trying to be funny- when she's not! I'd love to see 2 republicans on this show. This is just unbalanced. 2 black woman and 2 white liberals - against a republican. Elizabeth needs to find a new gig - preferably with rational people.

You can read about it all here and form your own opinion. Like I said, it's a ship that's sailed, IMO. I think the whole argument about someone's pastor is silly anyway. Who the heck delves into all the beliefs of their pastor anyway? Should the people in a church that had a pedophile priest be looked down on?

The reason you don't hear nothin' (as Palin would say) is because that was all brought up long ago and talked about for months. It was an uproar that ran it's course. If you want to hear more about it, get ahold of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She is more than happy to bring it up over and over again, even after it's relevance has run it's course.

Every whitebread Republican candidate seems to either court the favor of or been a member of a congregation led by a fatass windbag closet case who either denies the Holocaust existed, longs for gay genocide, or believes people are magically going to vanish out of their clothes when the Rapture strikes. Meanwhile, the black candidate has his own version of the cliche (and a decidedly less extreme on at that) and suddenly it's a terrible thing to have ties to a "radical" cleric. Just imagine if we had an Atheist/religiously-unaffiliated candidate who found the whole idea ridiculous or if "personal faith" wasn't a pointless prerequisite for running a campaign. Then none of this one-upping about who has the best imaginary friend would be an issue.
An Bill Maher was dead-on this weekend: if O'Bama had a witch doctor performing some asinine rite to banish demons like Palin did, his candidacy would be D.O.A. the second the video leaked.
Seriously, all that's left of McCain's base of support are skinheads and airheads.
If this airhead was soooooo concerned about Obama supposedly palling it with a guy who is now a bonafide Professor of Education at a respectable university, then why didn't she bring it up this past year? This information has been in the public domain forever. Or does airhead barbie only begin to yap when her Republican party commandants stick a tape in her head, and wind the key in the back of her ass?
Forgive me, but I'm overseas and I don't see as much as you guys (thank god). My question is, what ever happened with this Rev Wright stuff. Last I heard, he was this evil, hateful guy...then nothing....

Isn't it frustrating? I lost a lifelong friend some months back because of that friggin email with all those lies about Obama. And I was a Clinton supporter then. She forwarded that email around to a bunch of people and I 'replied to all' back and supplied a link to the Snopes.com site that said all that crap were lies. My friend got totally pissed and we don't talk anymore.
You would think people would like to know they are spreading lies, but apparently not.
I was also driving a bunch of my daughters friends home from my daughters 13th birthday party sleepover and they saw an Obama lawn sign and one of them said 'He's a Muslim'. I told them that he isn't but, even if he was, that doesn't automatically make you a bad person.

I usually can't stand Sherri, but thank you for bringing up the fact that McCain left his first wife for a "newer" model. Why is that out of bounds? Goes to "personal judgement" if you ask me. And why can't we bring up the fact that Sarah Palin's 17 year-old daughter is pregnant? Again, judgement and family raising "skills" on Palin's part. But off-limits.
BTW, I would like to hear McCain talk about the smear campaign his own Republican party waged against him in 2000.
http://www.bartcopnation.com/dc/dcboard.php?forum=8&topic_id=522&az=show...
To my knowledge he has never called them out. And in fact, the man responsible for creating the SC smear campaign is now in charge of Palin's political "grooming". Insane.
As far as associating with terrorists, check into the Bush family connections with the bin Laden family....
I was also fooled into believing Obama was a Muslim.

I agree re: the danger of the 'fraternizing with terrorists' talk...
Both my in-laws (who are fairly moderate) swore up and down that Obama was a Muslim up until a week or two ago. The only reason I know is because I was sitting on the couch while my husband and MIL were discussing the first debate... and hearing "Mom, he's NOT a Muslim! Where did you hear that? An email? From Grandma? Come on, Mom, he's not a Muslim. Seriously, you believed that?"
Repeat the same conversation between husband and his dad a few days later.
I can GUARANTEE you that if both my in-laws thought Obama was a Muslim (thanks to some emails that were forwarded to half the country -- my mom got one too, but had the sense to email the person back and tell her she was full of shit) at least 2/3 of my hometown thinks the same thing. It makes me both sad and angry.
And I wish the media (I don't count the View as such -- the real NEWS media) was doing more to dispel these rumors. If half of Indiana mistakenly believes Obama is a Muslim, they are not informed enough to cast a meaningful vote.

A little FYI times:
I read yesterday that despite the fact America is the richest country in the world, Americans are by far the most depressed and unhappy people.
The Happiest country? Denmark. They pay taxes off the wazoo but they are happier? Their secret? Don't know...they don't have MTV? No Parisite Hilton? Who knows!
- OMG!
I saw this on 60 Minutes!!!
Yea, they are basically taken care of from birth until death, free everything, one year maternity leave, PAID even for the fathers.
University, EVERYTHING is covered.
They pay 50% taxes, but they are also a small country, would similar practices translate here?
Not sure but I would like to know now when I'm old and dusty, my ass is TAKEN CARE OF NO MATTER WHAT.

Ugh Hasselbeck, hold my hair
My only problem with any of the stuff that happens on The View is the hypocrisy of it all.
Elizabeth is usually very self-righteous because she feels like she is always being picked on . . . for some of the dumb things she says she usually is being picked on.
However, she can't sit there and say that she's allowed to have an opinion, but then try to act like she's better than Sherri because Sherri got opinionated about the "hate monger" speech and whatever else Elizabeth said.
Elizabeth, or any of the other girls on the panel, cannot have their cake and eat it too. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. If you can't have an adult conversation on a national show and talk to each other like respected colleagues, get your ass off the show.

You are absolutely right, Mrs. K. I just hope the American people realize that. When I was in college, I worked on a senator's campaign. He decided to run a clean race, even when his opponent came up with appalling lies. He lost big time. People thought that, since he didn't fight back, the bad stuff must be true.
