Jenny McCarthy Just Exploded
Denis Leary is an asshole and he knows it. He loves it. So anything that comes out of his mouth, I just slather it between two pieces of white bread and throw it in the pile with his other shit sandwiches. Here's Denis' latest shit sandwich from his new book Why We Suck: A Feel-Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid:
"There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-ass kids can't compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don't give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He's just stupid. Or lazy. Or both."
The Autism Society of American issued this statement in response:
"For Mr. Leary to suggest that families or doctors conspire to falsely diagnose autism is ridiculous . . . [His] remarks reflect the same misconceptions of autism being caused by bad or unemotional parenting that were held over 50 years ago."
Denis really knows how to take his point and wrap it in a big box of vomit.
Once Jenny McCarthy pieces herself together from exploding, she's going to explode again. Once she's done with that, she's going to rip Denis to shreds. And I hope it's on live television.

Really depressing. Despite being a long time fan of this man and impressed by the hit the nail on the head levying of his usual comments -- he's totally off the mark. I'm thinking maybe he's confused ADD w/ autism? Two different animals here.
And Jenny McCarthy can fuck herself in her autistic agenda as well. I guess now that she's 'cured' her autistic son that her poster child personification is now complete that she can move back to some sort of mild pornographic entaglement from which she once came. Yawn all around.

i don't think i've ever lost an interest in anyone so fast in my life. denis leary used to crack me up, but that is some boneheaded shit he's put out there. and um..aren't autistic kids actually really smart, they just lack the communication and social skills to express their intelligence? and for the record, jenny mccarthy stated on larry king that she's not anti-vaccine, she just wants more parents to be aware of the potential risks involved, autism related or not, and i think being aware of potential risks is important in all aspects of health care. for example, there have been endless "studies" showing that generic medications are the same as brand medications, but when i take the generic of my anti-depressant i run to the bathroom thirty times a day to squirt blood out of my ass. yet many doctors and pharmacists keep insisting there is no difference. well, my weeping asshole says otherwise. my point: scientists aren't always right.

No one is suggesting that those disorders don't exist. But you, being someone with experience, must know that it's a diagnosis being giving to many children who don't have it.
If anything, that's an insult to mothers like you who have to deal with the reality of a REAL diagnosis.
Maybe he should have thought for a minute more before he committed to that....dress.
The bigger issue is.....so what if sh*t is being over diagnosed, so what if some kids who are being treated arent really sick.....whats so disgusting about this is calling a child, a defenseless chile a moron, lazy and stupid. Ive seen some fat overweight backwards reading children grow to be some of the most successful people I know. Chhildren are reflective of the environment they live in, and you cant really see the true humanbeing until they get of the environment and start making it on their own as adults...

My son has ADHD severely and is also on the Autism spectrum - HFA. He's literally a genius and we actually fail to get much of the help he neesd because of the fact that he's so brilliant. Most programs want you to connect his illness to problems at school - but they mostly focus on academics. actually, it is very common for those with ADD/ADHD to be quite intelligent.
I am a great mother. He is my life and I actually have given up a lot of myself and my dreams to be a MOTHER for him. So fuck off you judgemental cunts that probably don't even have kids. It's just as insulting to me for you to imply I am lazy or just can't parent, you ignorant fucks. I DARE you to spend some time living my experiences as a parent and then you can see how fuckin' obnoxious you are. I am so tired of the implication that I do not want to parent my child because of his FUCKIN' MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS. If he had cancer, would I be a lazy parent? If he had diabetes, would it be because I am a bad parent? Would it be funny if he needed a new heart? I'm glad you know-it-alls have all the answers.

I don't believe JM's son is autistic for one minute! I saw her on Orah and when they showed her little boy playing in his room he had expressive eyes. The autistic children I have seen don't. I think she wanted to be relevant and now that people are seeing that her child is no different although maybe a little slower developed than other children he is magically "cured" ( front cover of some magazine this week)- bullshit there is no cure for autism!

I don't think that's true that theres no cure. My next door neighbors have 5 year old autistic twins and they have had special tutors and teachers .....from what i understand they are overcoming the autism. I think its totally possible with the right education. My cousin has a 13 year old son with autism who is also doing quite well.

As I agree with his point that Autism is being overly diagnosed, he went a little too far.
Kids with Autism are like snowflakes, no two are alike. Some are mild, some are severe. Some have stimming, some do not at all. I agree that a lot of kids/people are misdiagnosed. Medication isn't necessary with Autism (unless there's seizures), and not every kid is on meds. My daughter is moderate to severe and I don't have her on any meds. She looks like a perfectly normal happy kid but her behavior screams Autism. Leary or anyone else who share his opinion can all go suck a dick and choke until you have an autistic child yourself. We don't ask you to understand Autism, we just want a little tolerance. Hell, our Auties tolerate assholes like you everyday.
I do believe Asperger's Syndrome and Attention Deficit Disorder are over-diagnosed, but I think a diagnosis for autism is usually pretty clear.

Seriously, autism has got to be overdosed, otherwise why ALL OF A SUDDEN do all these kids have it who never had it before. I think they used to be called "shy" and this was just recognized as a personality trait. Same w/ADD, EVERYONE claims they have in some form or another and shrinks are happy to diagnose it left right and center in order to push the Adderall. Not to say that autism doesn't exist, but it's probably only a fraction of the cases that are diagnosed today.JMHO.
I diagnose myself all the time, then I go to the doctor and give them money to tell me what I already know just so they can give me the drugs I need to get rid of it.
Anyway, I think he's partly right, but he may have gone a little too far. Like someone else said, I think it's more ADD that is over-diagnosed.

I think the fact of the matter is, we all get the point he was trying to make - kids are overdiagnosed and overmedicated for certain things. Too bad it's only excusable if it's funny, and it wasn't. Ranting isn't funny, it's not made up of jokes...it's just ranting. And Denis Leary wore out his welcome about 10 years ago, I think. Give me some Lewis Black any day of the week.

He´s wrong about the autism part, since autism is very obvious to all, but he´s soo right about shrinks and schools and how they are drugging kids and putting labels on them just because they are a bit different from the other kids, a little more rebellious or loud perhaps. And many parents go along with the labelling of their kids as defectives, and so effectively turning their children into drugged-out zombies their entire childhood. It´s horrible and I have no respect for parents or doctors who go along with it. ADHD is the most common label, grown ups around me that were diagnosed with it use it as an excuse for all their short-comings, if they can´t do something it´s because of the adhd etc. It´s silly and should not be going on, but it will just get worse and worse, especially when all the ritalin kids start having their own offspring. Those things will be really whacked!
Adhd is a western disease, created in the minds of stressed-out control-freaks who don´t give a damn for the souls of children. Parents who go along with it should be ASHAMED!
