Jennifer Hudson's Mother & Brother Found Dead
Sad news out of Chicago. Jennifer Hudson's mother was found dead in her Chicago home at around 3 this afternoon. Two people were found fatally shot in the South Side home. The family's church confirmed that one of the victims was 57-year-old Darnell Hudson. The identity of the other victim hasn't been confirmed yet.
Condolences to Jennifer Hudson and her family.
UPDATE: The other victim has been identified as Jennifer's brother, Jason. They were found by Jennifer's cousin. Police believe the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute. Police are reportedly looking for a man and a 7-year-old boy. (Source)
UPDATE II: The boy is Jennifer's nephew, Julian King. An Amber Alert has been issued. Police believe Julian was taken from the home. They are looking for a 1994 White Chevy Suburban with license plate: X584859. (Source)
UPDATE III: Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour, was arrested by police. JHud's nephew Julian is still missing. William isn't cooperating with police or giving any kind of information. They believe William kidnapped Julian from the home after the murders. Police are still looking for Julian.
William has a long, long criminal history. He has served 7 years in prison for attempted murder.
Neighbors are saying that William and Julia had been fighting for the past two weeks over a car. They say William sold her car without her permission. (Source)

My boys are good and excited for Halloween!
We had a veggie garden this year too. The only thing that grew were th green beans and tomatoes!

M.E., our green beans did great too! We even had green-bean casserole in the Summer (I couldn't resist). I wish I'd have blanched and froze some now for the Holidays. I'll tell ya one thing, save your pumpkins if you can and cook down the pumpkin meat and use them for your pumpkin pies. BEST pumpkin pie I EVER made was from my Halloween pumpkins...a lot of work but boy...the difference was amazing!
Ugh. Death around the Holidays. I don't even want to go there.

This sad circumstance reminds me of Venus & Serena Williams older sister's murder in Oakland.
After all was said and done regarding the case people were like WTF was she doing back in the hood? Everyone in her family had moved away from there a long time ago. Sigh....Very sad.

M.E., I hope you and your precious kiddles are doing well. The vege garden my hubby planted me for Mother's Day is the little garden that could...I got two zukes, one cucumber and a whole shit-load of green tomatoes a coupla days ago which I can ripen in my pantry and it's almost the end of freaking OCTOBER. It's silly little things that make me smile. :)
JH never even got to say good-bye to her mama. I was cleaning out my husband's disaster of an home office the other day and found a beautiful plate he took after his mom died and I dusted it off and placed it on my piano and cried. I really miss her but at least we had time and knew when her health had taken a turn for the worst. I can't even imagine the kind of grief she will probably NEVER get over. :(
