Terrible, Terrible News

Sorry I don't refresh this page every ten seconds. I live on the South Side (closest to 95th stop on red line), so I obviously tell that to anyone who suggests I don't go there. I am also aware of the west side. Thank you. I majored in sociology, so these topics were discussed everyday, academically.

i don't even know what we're arguing about. you're saying there's no racism in chicago? it's well known it is very segregated. i go home on the red line, after sox 35th, i'm the only white person on the train.

As far as the comparison to murders analysis, I think you might be surprised as the majority of the shootings occur on the WEST side. The west side has the greatest concentration of Street Gangs (Vice Lords, SD, GD, P-Stones, Folk Nation affiliates, etc...). I know this as I attend the CAPS meetings monthly in Uptown, where I live. There is always crime here, but the residents try to work with the community on a resolution. I know my Police Super, Kathy Ballmer by first name and many of the officers in my neighborhood. I also know some of the gang bangers as well. The main gang in my hood is the PStones. They don't get along with the MX 3 guys.

I'd love to see where you get your segregation information. Who says it's the most segregated city in the country? Once again, I question whether this is a perception and not a reality. The Chicago I know and love is a diverse community filled with all kinds of people who are just trying to exist peacefully.

to answer your question, life is what you make it period. god gave you a head to make decisions and form your own perceptions. Don't let some one else distort those. Otherwise, don't take my advice. That's your choice, but don't make assumptions based on what you don't know... I've lived south, north and west in the Chi. I love the city as a whole...

don't you mean for those not in Chicago? Also, what's different about them? The architecture in Chicago is prevalent on both sides of the fence - West Side as well! The red line smells the same on the north side as south. It seems that just as many people come to work in the loop from the south, north and west sides collectively from Monday through Friday. As horrible as that is, you're not alone. I wish that whoever signed onto Julia King's MySpace page after the fact would've changed some of the not-so-flattering quotes she posted on there. It does make her look less credible as a mother. I did notice that someone went on Balfour's MySpace and changed his status to "in jail" and his mood to "forgotten" ... **aww poor guy!**

I pray that Julian died quickly and didn't feel any pain, but I find that doubtful. I think he was taken alive and then killed because he wouldn't stop crying, whining, etc.

I am a law abiding citizen and I couldn't just waltz out and get a gun to "carry around". most legal gun owners do not carry their guns with them because it is against the law unless you have a special permit.
